Scientists were studying sea turtles(龟) in Costa Rica. That is in Central America. One turtle had something sticking out of its nose. The turtle could not breathe. At first, the scientists thought it was a worm( 虫). They pulled it out. It was a plastic straw( 吸管). The scientists made sure the turtle was healthy. It came back into the water. The scientists posted a video of helping the turtle on the Internet. When people saw it, they were shocked. The video made Diana Lofflin start StrawFree.org. The group is in California. Lofflin hopes people will find some things instead of plastic straws. “Straws are not necessary for enjoying a drink,” she says. “Saying no to a plastic straw is a way to make a difference in the world.”
