1 . Body language is an important social skill to show what we want to share. It can make your words clearer and help get better results. There are many kinds of body language. They mean different things.

	Facial expressions We can show a lot of feelings with our faces, like happiness, sadness, surprise, excitement, fear and so on. They are almost the same in different cultures. They can help us decide if we can trust a person, or make them trust us.
	Gestures Gestures are the signs we make with our hands while talking. People use them mostly when they try to make a point or argue with others. However, some gestures can mean different things in different cultures. So you should be really careful with them.
	Movement Movement is the way people walk, stand, sit, or hold their head. And when people talk with others, they also need to shake hands or hug them. They can tell a lot of information. They show people’s manner, behavior, character and level of education.
	Eye contact This is the way you look at someone. How much eye contact you make can tell a lot of things about you and what you are trying to say. But remember not to stare (盯) at others all the time. It will make them feel upset.

3 . My name is John. My arms are shorter than others’, but I never think I’m different. I don’t think of myself as a “disabled” person because I feel like I can do anything I want. With the help of my parents, friends and a special program for young people with disabilities. I know how to fight for myself and how to be strong. That doesn’t mean it is always a piece of cake. I had some bad experiences, such as the way people looked at me, although most people were friendly.

When I was three, my family moved to New York where there are first-class hospitals. I missed some school because of operations. I had to work harder than others.

When I went to the seventh grade, I recovered a lot more. I also made some friends and we had a great time together. As classes got harder, life became more difficult for me. I had to spend more time remembering things, taking notes and preparing for exams. Luckily, I never failed any exams.

When I was at college, I wrote something about myself for a newspaper. It helped more people know me. Many people wrote to me. They thought I was strong to recover from over 10 operations. And I was happy to make friends with them.

7 . Many of us don’t pay much attention to the importance of eye care. It is said that if you take care of your body, then you can surely be healthy. That is why our eyes should be given a lot of care. Natural eye care should be put in a number one place.

There are several causes leading to poor eyesight like not enough food, genes(基因) and aging(老化). Televisions, computers and reading are also the causes of having poor eyesight. If you happen to work in front of the computer, it is best to take a break every once in a while. Something dirty can cause redness and they will make you feel uncomfortable. It is bad for your eyes, too. If this happens, the best way is to clean your eyes by using cold water. You must also try your best to protect your eyes from harmful things. For example, sunglasses are not just for fashion but they can also serve as a great way to protect your eyesight form UV rays.

Eating healthy foods will do good to your eyesight. Remember that vitamins A, C and E are good for eyes. Try to eat food groups that have these vitamins. And you should do eye exercises because exercise protects your eyesight, too. If a person exercises regularly(定期地) and eats the right kind of food, his eyes will stay in good condition for a long time.

All above are natural ways of eye care that help us keep healthy eyes. Being happy all the time can be helpful to a person’s eyesight, too. In a word, eye care is very important, no matter how old a person is.

8 . A hare was very popular with the other animals who all said to be her friends. But one day she heard the hounds（猎狗）coming and hope to escape them with the help of her friends. So she went to the horse and asked him to carry her away from the hounds on his back, But he declined, saying that he had important work to do for his master instead. He said he felt sure that all her other friends would come to help her.

She then asked the bull, and hoped that he would prevent the hounds with his horns（角）. The bull replied, "I am very sorry, but I have an appointment with a lady, but I feel sure that our friend a goat will do what you want."

The goat, however, feared that his back might do her some harm if he took her upon it. The ram, he felt sure, was the proper friend to apply to. So she went to the ram and told him the case. The ram replied, "Another time, my dear friend. I do not like to get into it, as hounds have been known to eat sheep as well as hares."

The hare then applied as a last hope to the calf, who regretted that he was unable to help her, as he did not like to take the responsibility, as so many older animals than himself had declined the task. By this time, the hounds were quite near and the hare took to her heels and luckily escaped.

9 . David has two lively children. One is five years old and the other is seven years old. One day, David was teaching his seven-year-old son, Kelly how to use a lawnmower（割草机）. When he was teaching how to turn the lawnmower around, his wife Mona called him and asked him about something. David turned to answer Mona’s question, while the naughty Kelly pushed the lawnmower into the flower bed. At first, he just wanted to practice and learn how to turn the lawnmower around. But when he saw that his father had not come, he took full advantage of the mowing techniques he had just learned and tried in the flower bed.

Wherever the lawnmower went. the flowers and leaves were everywhere. The beautiful flower bed immediately became a mess. When David turned and saw what was in front of him, he was simply mad. You must know how much time and effort he had put into his flower bed. But it was destroyed by Kelly in just a few minutes. “Oh, Kelly! What are you doing?” He rushed to Kelly. Just as he was preparing to punish his son, his wife ran to him and said seriously, “David, don’t do this. You know, we are raising ________, not raising flowers.” Hearing his wife’s words and looking at his son who was scared, David felt really embarrassed（尴尬的）. He lowered his head to calm himself down. And then he held Kelly tightly in his arms.

10 . ①It is true that people with better education are usually able to get better-paid jobs. In other words, they have more chances to choose a good job while people with little or no education don’t.

②It seems that the purpose of education is to make people get jobs. But this isn’t accepted by all people. Some people may think that a person should spend the best years of his life getting education only for a way of living. This was probably one of the earliest reasons of education. In fact, if education is just a way of making a living, people don’t need to spend so much time at school. People can get education for a living in a short time. Subjects like history and geography need not be taught to everyone. Even language and maths need not be taught in detail（详细地）either. Here it is clear that education is much more than teaching a man to get a way of living.

③Education is well-rounded（全面的）and it is mainly for improving a man. It is not only to teach him to speak, read and write, but also to develop his creative thinking and other abilities. After that, it is to make him a wise man and thankfully enjoy the achievements of humans. Education is to make a man lead a better life. Educated people are expected to be able to listen to good music, read good books, watch good plays and take an interest in the world.

④I would agree that making a good living is an important reason for education, but certainly not the most important or the main reason.
