1 . Mike is a student in Class One, Grade Eight. He is 1.50 meters tall, but he is over 70 kg. He think he is too fat. He wants to get thinner. Here is his plan for it.

2 . In Germany, if children want to ride bikes by themselves on the road, they have to pass a test. The test is quite like our driving test.

First, the students have 30 classes about how to ride bikes safely on the road. Each student has a book. The book tells them how to keep safe on the road, how to keep others safe and what to do if they get hurt.

After the classes, the students will have two written tests. Then they will do some riding practice at school. Some policemen will come to give them some help.

At last, the students will have a test on the road. If they can pass the test, they can get a bike license. Then they can ride on the road.

We all know German people are very careful. We can see this from their riding test for the students. The students learn useful riding skills, and at the same time they learn the spirit (精神) of the country.

3 . Many students have clear ideas about what jobs they would like to have when they grow up. We think boys and girls choose jobs differently. To find out how differently they choose their jobs, we did a survey in New Hope Middle School. The following shows the result of the survey.

5 . Have you ever been to Berlin? I paid a visit to it for five days and enjoyed a happy time. Berlin is a big city. In order to make my travel easy, I divided the city into some areas, and then traveled from area to area. It is a great place for a bike ride instead of walking around. It provides a fast and easy way to move around Berlin, and costs around 9 Euros per day to rent (租).

If you really want to enjoy walking, there is also a free walking tour. It begins at the Brandenburg Gate and lasts 3.5 hours. It took me through the center of the city, showed me all the highlights (重要的部分) and gave me some history about the city.

For me, one of the most important things is to enjoy the local delicious food. We can judge (判断) a city on how cheap it is by the food, and the food in Berlin is very cheap. Not just street food, even in the restaurants there are bargains. You can find a lot of meals for less than 5 Euros. Here is a truth for you—the lemons (柠檬) and the fresh vegetables are mouthwatering.

After this visit, I enjoy Berlin more. Though I may not ever live there, I’d happily go back and visit over and over again.

7 . If you go to a fast food restaurant, you will probably see a lot of teenagers (青少年). Today, many teenagers are becoming fat, and this is because of their bad eating habits. Most teenagers love food with a lot of fat, oil, salt and sugar. People often call this kind of food “junk food”.

Little cars in the future will be fine for getting around a city, but they will not be suitable for long trips. If big cars are still used along with the small ones, two sets of roads will be needed in the future. Some roads will be used for the big and fast cars, and other roads will be needed for the small ones.

10 . The giraffe is the tallest modern land animal. It can be over 5.5 meters tall. Its neck alone may be 1.9 meters long. Yet the giraffe has only seven bones in its neck, the same number as in the humans’. Even a small bird has many more bones in its neck than a tall giraffe. Each bone in a giraffe’s neck is very long, while the bones in a human’s neck are short. That makes the difference. A female giraffe gives birth to one baby at a time. The baby, called a calf (犊，幼崽) is about 1.9 meters tall at birth. By the age of eight it is full-grown (完全长大的). The giraffe eats mostly leaves. Because it has a long neck, it can reach the high leaves on the trees.
