2 . Can we forget bad memories? Someone might tell you that time is the only “cure”(解药).But this might be not true.

Researchers at Canada’s McGill University have tested a pill (药片) that can help you forget bad memories. They tested it on 60 people and found it to be successful.

All 60 people had painful memories and wanted to forget them. In the study, they were asked to write about these bad memories. Then, they took a pill that is usually used to treat (治疗) high blood pressure. They then recalled their bad memories by reading what they wrote earlier. In the end, they talked about their feelings, saying that they were finally able to forget their bad experiences.

Dr. Alain Brunet, who led the study, believes that the pill can ease (缓解) the pain that bad memories bring. People can take it after bad things happen to them.

How did the pill do this? In fact, your memories change all the time. They’re like text files (文件) on your computer. Every time you recall and “open” the files, you might happen to make some changes and “save” them. Researchers believe that the pill can stop proteins (蛋白质) in the brain from “resaving” these memories. This means some details (细 节) of the memory are lost.

However, there are some ethical (伦理的) worries about this treatment. Some people might use it to forget things that they should be learning from, such as when they committed (犯) a crime. People are discussing which kinds of memories should be forgotten with this pill.

3 . In recent years, the development of e-books is very fast. So which books are more popular? Here is a report on the matter. The report collects the opinions of more than 3,000 people.

According to the report, more than half of them choose to read printed books. About 26.8% of them prefer reading on their mobile phones. The rest are more likely to read on computers and e-book readers.

In the survey, many young readers tend (倾向) to read e-books. They think that e-books are very convenient and can satisfy their desire ( 愿 望 ) to read whenever they want. 5 . Are you good at math? How about writing poems or painting beautiful pictures? Do you love to sing? It all depends on whether you are a "right-brain" or a "left-brain" person.

The human brain is a truly amazing organ(器官). It's not easy to study the brain, but science is slowly beginning to understand how it works. The brain is divided into two parts: the left side and the right side. Some people use the left side of the brain more than the right. Others use the right side more than the left.

Left-brain people are good at math, science and reading. They do well in school. They can easily pay attention to detailed tasks. They like to work independently, and often enjoy studying alone. Right-brain people are more artistic. They love music and singing. They like to be around lots of people. They don't like to sit still.

Mind mapping(思维导图) is designed to use both sides of your brain—mind mapping involves your right and left brain thinking. Our ability to speak and communicate seems to have its origin(根源)in the unlikely pairing(组合)of the left brain and the right hand.

The fact that you use one side of your brain more doesn't mean that you don't use the other side. It just means that you prefer one side to the other. One way is not better than the other. It only shows the way you learn best.
