10 . In China's cities and the countryside, New Year pictures are closely connected with the Spring Festival. Putting up New Year pictures is a part of the festive celebrations.
According to historical records, that block-printed Chinese New Year pictures came from the Door Gods in ancient China. The predecessor(前身) of the Door Gods was taofu. Since the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD), two valiant generals-Shen Tu and Yu Lei, were printed on the peach wood. From the beginning of the Tang Dynasty (618-907), the photos of the Door Gods were replaced with Qin Qiong and Yu Chigong.
