2 . In Chengdu, tea culture has developed into the Chengdu-featured (特色的) tea house culture. There is a saying about Chengdu tea houses: You could see more tea houses than sunny days. The tea houses catch so much eyesight because of their many different functions (功能): for fun, relaxing and meetings.

The desks and chairs in the tea houses are often made of bamboo. The teas are usually jasmine (茉莉花) tea, Longjing, and Biluochun. They use northern Gaiwan as tea sets (larger than Gongfu Gaiwan). Gaiwan is made up of three parts: the lid (盖), the cup and the saucer (茶碟). When the tea service master pours water into the Gaiwan, you will see the water falling from the air into Gaiwan, with a lively sound. In a moment, water stops. Then look at the Gaiwan. The water in it is just right at the level of the Gaiwan’s mouth, with a simple drop on the desk.

No matter where you are in Chengdu, in a quiet park or in a busy street, you can see those featured tea houses. People can stay there for half a day, having only a cup of tea and snacks. In the talks of friends and neighbors, the colorful tea culture of Sichuan is fully expressed.

3 . The generation gap (代沟)

The difference between parents and children in tastes, values and the way they deal with problems is called generation gap. It is a common situation all (A)__________ the world.

It is especially important for us to eat vegetables like carrots and sweet potatoes.② Besides, we need to protect our eyes (A)      we spend a long time in bright sunlight. The best way to do this is by wearing sunglasses that have 100% UV(紫外线) protection. What’s more, it is necessary to protect our eyes when we work with dangerous chemicals. 5 . Everybody knows how important it is for students to get a good night’s sleep every night. Most experts agree that teenagers need to get 8 hours of sleep a night. However, I know that most of you get much less sleep than that.

I read an interesting article in a teachers’ magazine recently. They did a study of 848 students in Wales. Worryingly, the results showed that teenagers are facing a new problem. They may go to bed and get up at appropriate times but a growing number are waking up in the middle of the night not to use the bathroom or have a snack but because of a new phenomenon(现象)：fear of missing out!

According to the article, schoolchildren are suffering because of a growing trend(趋势) to wake up during the night to check social media. Afraid of missing a comment or chance to take part in a chat, teenagers are waking at all times of the night, going online. All this when they should be sound asleep.

The study shows that students who use social media during the night are more likely to suffer from sadness and anxiety. Experts are worried about this growing trend and the report shows some worrying statistics (数据) that I’d like to share with you.

23% of 12 to 15-year-olds wake up nearly every night to use social media. Another 15% wake up at night once a week for the same reason. One in three students are tired all the time.

So I’d like to ask you to be responsible when it comes to social media. Be brave! Switch off your mobile phones at night. The world won’t end and your social media will be waiting to greet you in the morning! I give you my word that you won’t have missed anything important.

7 . Every time when I felt upset or sick, I liked to go to a special place where I could relax myself. It is the club. I joined the club 3 years ago. My sister recommended this place to me. They told me that I could find lots of fun there. It’s near my house and our hospital. I usually stayed there for 2 or 3 hours and went home. I loved the club because I felt comfortable there!

The club only allowed women to be members. I didn’t worry about my privacy. The club was the biggest women’s club in my country where there was a lot of space to do the different activities. You could see a beautiful warm water pool. You could find many big rooms behind the pool. There was a cold room, an exercise room, an MTV center, a message center, and two restaurants.

Everyone knew working in the hospital had many stresses. I needed to find a way to relax myself. It’s the best choice for me. I often took a shower first and then swam for 20 minutes to relax myself. When I finished the exercise, I liked to watch a video and take a short sleep. Although it costs a lot of money to be a club member, I hope I can join the club again after I come back to my country.

8 . It’s hard to make friends if you stay at home alone all the time. Get out of the house and do things that will put you in touch with other people. It’s easier to make friends when you have the same interests.

Don’t be afraid to show people what you are really good at. Talk about the things you like and do best. People will be interested in you if there is something interesting about you.

Look at people in the eyes when you talk to them. That way, they will find it easier to talk to you. If don’t, people may think you are not interested in them and may stop being interested in you.

Be a good listener. Let people talk about themselves before talking about “me, me, me”. Ask lots of questions. Show interest in their answers. Try to make friends with the kind of people you really like—not just with those who are easy to meet.

Be friendly with a lot of people. If so, you will have a bigger group of people to choose from and have more chances to make friends.

9 . You are visiting the Eiffel Tower in France, but the next second you are in Thailand. Then, suddenly you may have dinner with Barack Obama in America. But you are not dreaming. This is what might happen in the near future. With the help of virtual reality (VR，虚拟现实) technology, a lot of changes are taking place in our life.

VR is a computer technology that makes an environment and allows users to see and even interact (互动) with it. Just wear a pair of VR glasses, joined to your computer and you can experience a lot of things without stepping out of your room.

“The most interesting part of VR is that it offers an immersive (身临其境的) experience,” said Wang Bing, leader of the Chinese entertainment company Funshow. “That’s why VR movies are popular among users. You become a part of the story.” According to the Report on Chinese VR Users’ Behavior last month, over 960,000 people in China have bought VR products and 83.2 percent of them have watched VR movies.

VR can also be used in some other ways. It can help to train workers before they have to work in highly dangerous environments. VR also helps patients with acrophobia (恐高症) by making them think they are standing on the top of a tall building.

However, VR technology still has a long way to go. Users report feeling sick while wearing VR glasses. Maybe it could take a period of time for VR to be widely used around the world.
