Katy Sullivan is an actress, an athlete, and a person who refuses to use the words “no” or “I can’t”. She was the first person in the world with two prosthetic legs(义肢)to take up running as a competitive sport. She made it to the 100-meter finals in the 2012 London Paralympics(残奥会). J: Were there any differences in your childhood because of the prosthetic legs?
S: No. I feel lucky because my family has treated me the same way they would treat any. I grew up in Alabama, US and had an active childhood. I kept up with my sisters and brothers at the gym and in the swimming pool.
J: Why did you want to be an actress as a teenager?
S: I saw a movie that made a big impression on me. Before it was over, I had decided to be an actress.

S: Because my friend asked me whether I’d like to try running, and I said “yes”. I was given a pair of running legs and started running. 10 . Clark: Hi Mandy. You’re a singer in a great new band (乐队)! How did you join the band? Tell us about your story.
Mandy: I liked singing and writing songs when I was little. Last year, I sang a song in a competition (比赛). After that, a person asked me if (是否) I was interested in singing in the “Dish” band. I was very lucky, really.
Clark: So now you’re in your band “Dish”. Your CD “Up and Down” is in the shops now. Tell us about it.
