1 . 根据短文内容,判断正误(正确“T”,错误“F”),并将所选答案涂到答题卡的相应位置上。

I am an Inuit boy named Kayla. Inuit are the people who live in cold Arctic (北极的) lands. In my language, Inuit means “the people”. Some people used to call my people Eskimos. We wish to be called Inuit.

I live with my mother, father and two brothers. We live at the most northern part of the world. It is made up of the Arctic Ocean and the land all around it. For months the sea is covered with thick ice. The land is covered with snow and ice most of the year, too.

Winter is long and very cold. It lasts from October to March. It is dark twenty-four hours a day. The sun does not come up to warm the water and land. When the north winds blow, it is even colder. There are days when the temperature is 50°F below zero. My family is prepared. We wear watertight (防水鞋). We put on many layers (层) of clothes. Outside we always wear a thick warm jacket that has fur inside. I’m not afraid of the cold winters. I guess I’m just used to them.

My family and I look forward to each summer. So much happens in a short time. The temperature usually stays around 50°F. During the summer the sun shines all day and night. This is why the Arctic is called the “land of the midnight sun”.

1. Kayla is a boy who lives in cold Arctic lands, the most northern part of the world.
2. There are four people in Kayla’s family.
3. In Kayla’s hometown, winter lasts from October to March without sunshine.
4. Kayla is afraid of the cold winters when the temperature is 50°F below zero.
5. The passage mainly tells us something about Kayla’s family life.

2 . A young man was getting ready to graduate from the college. He loved a beautiful sports car for many months, and knew his father could well afford it for him. He told his father that was all he wanted.

As the graduation day was coming, the young man had got nothing from his father. On the morning of his graduation, his father called him into his study. He told his son how proud he was to have such a good son, and told him how much he loved him. Then he gave his son a beautiful gift box. The young man opened the box and found a lovely book, a Bible, with the young man’s name on it. Angrily, he raised his voice to his father and said, “With all your money you gave me a Bible?” He then ran out of the house, leaving the Bible behind.

Many years later, the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful house and a wonderful family. Realizing his father was old, he thought he should go to see him. He had not seen him since that graduation day. Unfortunately, he was told that his father had died.

When he arrived at his father’s house, he began to take care of his father’s papers. And then he found the Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened it and began to turn the pages. As he was reading, from the back of the Bible dropped a car key. That was the key to the sports car he wanted so much. Sudden sadness and regret filled his heart.

Sometimes we don’t realize the good luck that we already have because we don’t know the “gift box” is packed in a different way. The “gift box” may be the door to happiness. It is just waiting for us to open.

6 . The UN Environment (环境) Programme says that rising temperatures could mean the end of some migrating (迁徙) animals.

Migrating animals move through several environments as they travel away from the cold area in winter to warmer ones. Birds may fly from one part of the world to another, perhaps stopping at feeding grounds on the way. Whales (鲸) and turtles(海龟) travel through huge areas of ocean (海洋). A report says that changes in any one of the places where these animals stay can lead to some problems. "Obviously these animals have developed their traveling ways over thousands of years. But weather changes much greater over the next 25 to 50 years. And it is impossible for these animals to change their habits fast enough," said the report writer Dr.Robert Hepworth.

Turtles are hit hardest by rising temperatures. Scientists have found that at higher temperatures, Turtles have far more female eggs than male ones. In parts of Malaysia, Turtles are only giving birth to female babies. And some turtles are more probable to develop cancer (癌症) as the waters get warmer.

With birds, the main problem is the harm to important areas at the end of their travels or at resting places along the way. About one-fifth of immigration birds are now in danger because of these changes, including rising sea levels, land loss and more strong storms.

Some other animals are now in great danger. For example, the North Atlantic Right Whale is losing their food because of the changing ocean flows; The White-Nose Dolphin is out-competed(淘汰)by other kinds in warmer waters.

The report is not all bad news. Even with the temperature changing, protecting the environment can still help migrating animals return. "We need to start taking action all over the world. The clock is ticking. We should make full use of every minute." said Dr.Hepworth. And now some projects are already working! Whales are changing their feeding habits, finding new feeding grounds and new foods to eat.

10 . It was a normal busy morning. At about 8:30 am, George, an old man in his 80s, arrived at Queen Alexandra Hospital, England, to have stitches removed (拆线) from his hand.

George told me that he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:15. I weighed him, took his blood pressure (血压) and invited him to take a seat in the waiting area. I saw him looking at his watch and asked George if he had another doctor’s appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry.

George told me no, but that he needed to go to St Christopher’s Nursing Home to eat breakfast with his wife. He told me that she had Alzheimer’s disease (老年痴呆症).

As we talked, I asked if she would be sad if he was a little late. George replied that she no longer knew who he was and that she had not recognized him for five years.

I was surprised. “And you still go every morning, even though she doesn’t know who you are?” I asked him.

“She doesn’t know me, but I still know who she is,” he answered with a smile.

I had to hold back tears back as George left. “That is the kind of love I want in my life.” I thought.

True love is neither physical, nor romantic. The happiest people don’t necessarily have the best of everything , they just make the best of everything they have. Life isn’t about how to survive (存活) in the storm, but how to dance in the rain.

B.Because he wanted to see his wife on time.
C.Because he had another doctor’s appointment.
D.Because he didn’t feel comfortable.
2. George’s wife wouldn’t be sad if he was late, because __________.
A.she was often late, too.B.she couldn’t recognize him
C.she knew George was busyD.she didn’t want to see him
3. Which of the followings is similar to the underlined sentence in Paragraph 4?
A.George’s wife couldn’t get to know him 5 years before.
B.George’s wife refused to get along with him 5 years before.
C.George’s wife no longer wanted to see him 5 years before.
D.George’s wife came to recognize him 5 years before.
4. Who would have true love according to the writer?
A.People who are the most romantic.
B.People who have everything.
C.People who make the best of everything they have.
D.People who are physically strong.
5. What is the best title of the passage?
A.Enjoy the moment in lifeB.Love everyone around you
C.Learn to surviveD.Value the one you own
