Physical exercise is also a good way to reduce anxiety. Even a small amount of physical exercise can immediately make you feel better. And it works for people of all ages. At this time, you probably could not do outdoor exercise. But you should still do some exercise at home. If you need exercise tips, try to find them online.
Too much information may lead to anxiety. Since the COVID-19 outbreak was first reported, almost all people have been talking about it. To avoid receiving too much information, set aside time away from the screen and internet.
Humans are social animals. If our need to socialize (社交) is not met, it may lead to bad feelings. Fortunately, it is easy to connect with relatives and friends. Call someone or send a private message on WeChat.

A new research suggests that children who are brought up on healthy diets are more intelligent compared with those junk food eaters. It was found toddlers (蹒跚学步的孩子) who are fed a diet high in fats, sugars, and processed foods had lower IQs than those fed pasta, salads and fruit. The effect is so great that researchers from the University of Bristol said those children with a “healthier” diet may get an IQ improvement. Scientists stressed a good diet was vital in a child’s early life as the brain grows at its fastest rate during the first three years of life. This indicated head growth at this time is linked to intellectual ability and it is possible that good nutrition during this period may encourage the best brain growth.
Scientists followed the long-term health and happiness of around 14, 000 children born in 1991 and 1992 as part of the West Country’s Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC). Parents were quizzed about the types and frequency of the food and drink their children consumed when they were three, four, seven and eight and a half years old. Their answers were marked on a sliding scale (浮动计算表). Minus two is for the healthiest while ten is for the unhealthiest. IQ was measured by a test—the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (韦氏儿童智力量表) —of 4, 000 children when they were eight and a half years old. The results found after considering some other factors, a mainly processed food diet at the age of three was connected with a lower IQ at the age of eight and a half, but whether the diet was improved after that age would never influence the result. Every one point increase in dietary score was connected with a 1.67 fall in IQ.

5 . Did you know that a large number of people get sick from foodborne illness each year? Luckily, foodborne illness can be prevented. Follow these three easy rules to help you.
◆ SEPARATE raw(生的)meat and eggs from other items in your refrigerator. If possible, use a different cutting board for raw meat products. This will reduce the chance of bacteria’s(细菌)spread from one food to another.
◆ CHILL(冷藏)foods to keep bacteria from growing. Bacteria are able to grow quickly at room temperature, so keep fresh foods in the refrigerator to limit this risk.
◆ COOK your food to a high enough temperature to kill harmful bacteria that may lead to illness. Use a thermometer to make sure your foods have reached a safe temperature.
Here is a chart for you to use as a food temperature guide.

♦Eat different kinds of foods. You may have your favorite food, but you must eat different kinds. If so, you can get the nutrients (营养素) your body needs. Have at least five fruits and vegetables a day — two fruits and three vegetables.
♦_____ When you are thirsty, cold water is the best. School usually offers (提供) kids boxes of milk, because it can help build strong bones (骨骼). If you’re 4 to 8, drink 2 cups of milk a day. If 9 or older drink 3 cups of milk every day.
♦Listen to body. When kids eat, they need to know how their body feels and when their stomach feels full. People will eat too much if they don’t know when to stop. Eating too much might make them uncomfortable.
♦Control screen time. Screen time is the time you spend on TV, video games, smart phones and computers. Spend no more than 2 hours a day on screen time.
♦Keep exercise. Find out your favorite sports and write them down. Then your parents can use them to help you stop TV or computer games to keep exercise for your health!

However, some parents aren’t clear about what kind of food is healthy and what kind of food isn’t helpful for their health. So, for these parents, they should learn more about healthy food.

Since the World Mental Health Day (世界精神卫生日) started on October 10th, 1992, more people have begun to pay attention to their mental health. So the mental health day is becoming more popular.
What is a mental health day?
“In addition to the World Mental Health Day, it’s important for people to take regular (定期的) mental health days for themselves,” says Doctor David A. Merrill. “The mental health day is a way to give yourself a break and pay attention to your mental health. It can be any day.”

“Mental health days are important for people of all ages and can be done differently,” says Cheryl Rode. “You can go for a trip outdoors, make your favourite meal, turn down your computer, or do some exercise. No matter what you choose to relax, the key is to do it often.”
What will you get from a mental health day?
First of all, it can help you stay healthy. When you are taking a mental health day, you have time to focus on what your body really needs. You will eat slowly and healthily. Secondly, you can sleep better. One of the first signs (症状) of poor mental health is poor sleep. What you should do is have a relaxing day and drink a glass of warm milk before sleeping. More importantly, you’ll have a better relationship with others.

10 . Our eyes can deal with 36, 000 bits of information every hour, many messages for our brain to connect with the world around us. We often say that we eat with our five senses. So what happens if we eat with our eyes closed? Would we enjoy food in the same way?
Eating with eyes closed
Since years ago, some restaurants offer to eat meals with eyes closed, a special experience to “reconnect with food” in a different way. The lack of senses like eye-sight helps us pay more attention to what we are eating. Those who take the challenge say the taste of many meals becomes stronger.
Playing with these feelings is possible from our home or even right now. If we think about a lemon, our brain sends orders to make our mouths water, as a natural reaction of our bodies to the acid flavor(酸味). It also happens if we smell a BBQ in the garden of a neighbor. We probably wish a burger badly when we smell it .
Thinking about eating less? This may help. Eating with our eyes closed can make us think we are eating more than we actually are. A German study gave ice-creams to several students. Part of them with their eyes closed ate fewer before they were full than the students who could see. Even though this cannot be a definite way to weight loss, meals can be funnier for sure.
Enjoy with our five senses
Sight may be an influence when we have to choose what to eat or even how much. We will probably eat more in a comfortable restaurant than in front of our computer at work. Color and presentation of the food matters too. Supermarkets usually put products with lively colors at eyelevel. In many cases, stores add extra colors to food to make it look better. But that does not mean they are healthier at all.
Are any other senses involved when we eat? Yes! If we listen to a cook telling us how wonderful the recipe of those fish and chips is, we will probably think it’s the best fast food we have had so far. In the end, everything is important for the complete enjoyment of a meal.
1. What does the underlined “it” refer to in paragraph 3?A.The BBQ. | B.The lemon. | C.The garden. | D.The acid flavor. |
A.people funnier | B.ice-cream taste better |
C.people healthier | D.the taste of food stronger |
