It’s so great to have you here.” On the last day of 2023, the Heilongjiang Provincial Tourism Office announced a thank-you letter     1     (excited). At Harbin Ice and Snow World, the ice-and-snow theme park in Northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province, tourists gathered     3     (count) down toward 2024, with more than 1,000 ice and snow sculptures around.

London is such a wonderful city. It is very large. The River Thames runs through the city from west     1     east. The city has two parts—the South and the North. In the North there are important buildings, shops, big parks     2     interesting places.

The weather in London is good. In winter it is not very cold. And in summer it is not very hot because the city     3     (be) near the sea. People say London is a foggy city and that it often     4     (rain). It is true.

6 . Do you know an old city called “Pingyao”? It is not far     1     Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi. It’s a town with a long history of more than two thousand years.

It is not very large. It is only 2.25 square kilometers in size. And there are     2     tall buildings here. Most of the buildings have only two floors. And most of     3     are made of stones (石头).

Pingyao is a square city. The city has a wall     4     it. You can take buses or trains here. It     5     you only 20 yuan. If you take a train, it will take you less time.

Now people are becoming richer and richer, and there are     1     (many) cars in our city than before. You may     2     (imagination) the problem of heavy traffic in Beijing and other big cities, especially during the rush     3     (hour). So the government (政府) has to do something to deal     4     the problem.
