1     the most prosperous and powerful dynasty in the history of China’s feudal (封建的) society, the Tang Empire (618-907) was so famous in the world that foreigners call the overseas Chinese people “the Tang people”, the areas     2     they live “Chinatowns” and the clothes they wear “Tangzhuang” (Tang suit) .

    3    (refer) to as “Tangzhuang”, the Tang suit has two     4    (various) in Chinese culture. One is the authentic (真正的) Tang-era clothes developing from hanfu,     5    (give) a free, easy and elegant impression;     6     other is the Manchu male’s jacket developing from magua of the Qing Dynasty. The Tang suit is an important part of traditional Chinese culture. Nowadays, an increasing number of young Chinese people tend     9    (have) Tang suits on their big days. As I worked as a sports journalist for my first 10 years with China Daily, I have     1     (close) followed how China has grown from a minor player in the international sports arena into a global sports power.

The best time to see beautiful lanterns is during the Lantern Festival (元宵节),     1    falls on the 15th day of the first lunar month. Last year it was on Feb.8th, marking the end of Spring Festival. However, because of the COVID-19 (新型冠状病毒), we had to stay     2     home last year.

In Ningbo city, a young woman has made the bamboo product brand (品牌) of her family’s company famous around the world,     1     (help) a number of bamboo farmers increase their Income (收入).

Wang Xiaoqing, born in the 1990s,     2     (find) that in the US. Chinese bamboo products were popular among customers,     3     many of them carried foreign brands. She decided to return to China and build a bamboo product brand after finishing her     4     (educate) abroad in 2013.

In 2018, a bamboo table     5     (produce) by the company of Wang’s family shined at the first Global Bamboo Congress. “What attracts westerners is the Chinese bamboo culture and its long history.     6     provides a solid foundation for the global development of China’s bamboo industry.” Wang said. Earth Day was founded in 1970 as a day of education about environmental problems, and Earth Day 2020     1     (fall) on Wednesday, April 22 — the holiday’s 50th anniversary. The holiday is now a global celebration that’s sometimes extended into Earth Week, a full seven days of events focused on green living.

    2    (elect) to the U. S. Senate (参议院) in 1962, Senator Gaylord Nelson was determined to convince the federal government that the planet was     3     risk. In 1969, Nelson developed the idea for Earth Day after     4     (inspire) by some teaching activities     5     were taking place on college campuses around the United States.

I’ve had my fair share of travelling around China, and a recent week-long trip to Guizhou was my first time to the province. It was     1     true learning experience.

I tried looking up meaning of the name Guizhou in the dictionary     2     advance, basically to have a reasonable idea of what is waiting for me.     3     that was a hard task, so I asked from a Chinese colleague among a group of local and foreign     4     (reporter) on the trip. From what she said, the province was named after a famous mountain called “Gui” and “zhou”, which     5     (simple) means province in Chinese.

Our trip began in Zunyi city, which enjoys great popularity among Chinese for the famous ‘Zunyi Conference’. Yet not much     6     (know) about this famous conference in Africa and the western world even today, but obviously it was at this place     7     China’s first leader and Chairman was elected.

The following journey was mind blowing as I went on to explore Anshun, a place that never fails     8     (attract) every visitor with its largest waterfall in Asia. I     9     (dream) of this place for a long time and am more than thrilled to witness the breathtaking views, which leave first-time visitors like me     10     (impress).
