I was very frightened when I woke up in hospital last Thursday.     1    Then my mum told me what happened. She said I fainted in my PE class because of low blood sugar levels. Fortunately,     2    我被紧急送往医院. The doctor helped me and     3    I made a full recovery within two days. My experience proves what a bad idea it is to try to lose weight by skipping meals. Now I know this extreme weight-loss method has serious side effects. I also understand that    4     being healthy and energetic is more important than being slim. From now on, I’ll pay more attention to my health rather than my weight. I’ll eat a balanced diet to make sure I have enough nutrition. Exercising regularly is also an important aspect of a healthy lifestyle. My doctor tells me that it’ll help me concentrate better in class. So, I’ll play sport with my friends every other day after school. I hope    5    这些生活方式变化能帮助我增强体质。

One day a man was asked to paint a boat by the owner of the boat. He brought with him paint and brushes and began to paint the boat bright red, as the owner asked him. While painting the boat, he saw a hole in the boat. He repaired it at once.     1     (完成刷漆后，他拿了钱便离开了。)

The next day, the owner of the boat came to the painter’s house and presented him with a nice check, much higher than the payment of painting.     2     (油漆匠感到非常惊讶。) “You’ve already paid me for painting the boat!” he said.

“But this is not for the paint job. It’s for having repaired the hole in the boat,” the owner said.

“But it was such a small service. Certainly it is not worth paying me such a high amount for something so unimportant!”

“My dear friend, you do not understand.     3     (现在让我告诉你发生了什么。) When I asked you to paint the boat, I forgot to mention the hole. When the boat dried, my kids took the boat and went on a fishing trip. They did not know that there was a hole in the boat. I was not at home at that time. When I returned and noticed they had taken the boat, I was hopeless because I remembered that the boat had a hole.     4     (然而，让我欣喜的是，他们竟然安全回家了!) It was really unbelievable!

“    5     (我立刻检查了这艘船，发现你已经修补了那个洞!) You see, now, what you did? You saved my children! I do not have enough money to pay your ‘small’ good deed.”

So, no matter where, when or how, just carefully repair all the ‘holes’ you find.

    1     I can’t wait to describe to you what senior high school life is like. The path before you leads to a world full of challenges. However, for those of you with a positive mind, opportunity lies in each challenge. When you rise to the challenges,     2     你们将有机会获取大量的知识, and enjoy personal growth.     3     Most importantly, your time and effort at senior high school will open the door to your potential.

To fully realize your potential,     4     充分利用学校资源很重要。 Take advantage of your classes, learn from your teachers and classmates, and make use of our school facilities.Of equal importance are good study habits, useful skills and a positive attitude. Last but not least, always look on the bright side and never lose hope, even in difficult situation.     5     In time you will find yourself growing into a well-rounded individual.

I enjoyed most of the classes,     1     but some of them were quite challenging. Technology classes were fun. I made a clock to take home.     2     The teacher helped me put the parts together. I like it so much that I still use it as my alarm! I found Maths quite easy and enjoyable because the material was less advanced in the UK than in China.     3    然而, 用英语学习对我来说是一个巨大的挑战。There were a lot of difficult English words, especially in Geography and Biology.     4    课堂讨论在英国很重要，but I could not make a great contribution because sometimes     5     I wasn’t able to express myself clearly in English. Although there was not as much homework as I was used to, it was still challenging. Fortunately, my teachers and classmates were always helpful and gave me lots of encouragement. My language skills improved over time.
