阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

For nearly four months, the little dog, Indiana, fortunately survived in the woods with a wounded shoulder. She'd been mistaken for a wolf and shot while running wild with her mother, Dakota. An animal control officers said they were the most strongly bonded pair he'd even seen and the two dogs refused to leave each other's side, even while trying to escape being caught.

As a result of the gunshot, Indiana lost both her leg and her mother, for the two were sent to different adoption groups. While Indiana was learning to walk on three legs down south, Dakota was 1,000 miles north in New England. The first adoption family returned her two days later. They said the dog couldn't bond with humans, kept them up all night and wasn't suitable to live in a home. Eventually, Dakota found her forever home with me on Long Island. I have experience with such dogs, and Dakota, a husky (哈士奇犬), just needed attention and someone who understood how to approach her. I always let her come up to me. I gave her the time and space to explore and feel comfortable. She soon let me put a belt on her and would lie on the sofa with me quietly.

When I, accidentally, read the post of Dakota's first adopter, it mentioned that the little dog Dakota had been running with was shot, and, I thought, killed. I'm a broadcast news journalist, so I always did some survey and, by chance, heard a story from a South Carolina TV news outlet about a dog that recently had her front leg cut off because of an old gunshot wound. And anyone who wanted to adopt Indiana was required to have a six-foot fence because she kept jumping over the one at the care shelter in South Carolina. There was no mistaking it—she looked exactly like Dakota. Indiana wasn't killed by the gunshot, just badly injured.

1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请在答题卡的相应位置作答。

While Dakota loved me and her new home, she still missed her kid.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

“A usual boring day!” This would be the answer from Roman if somebody asked him how his day was. These days he found everything boring, and nothing excited him.

One day he was lying on the bed in his room as usual. Suddenly the light went off. His room was rather hot without an air conditioner. Though he did not want to leave his room, he had to. Unwillingly, he left his room and came to the living room. It was slightly cool there as the living room had two huge windows.

His young brother was playing with his friend. They were rolling on the floor. He was looking out for the TV remote, but couldn’t find it. He got up and searched for it everywhere, but the remote was nowhere to be seen. He looked at his brother who was still lying on the floor, playing.

He asked him, “where is the remote?”

“Under the sofa,” his brother yelled.

He tried to look through the remote, but it was dark. He put his hand under the sofa. He touched something, grabbed it and took his hand out. It was a snake in his hand!

Upon seeing that, his brother started to yell, “Snake! Snake!” Mom came as soon as she heard the shouting. She was too horrified to see a snake. She was so scared that she even couldn’t speak a word. Two kids were trying to hide behind each other’s back. “What an old trick!” Roman thought and threw it to the kids.

As the snake landed on the floor and neared the kids, it started moving from the left side to the right. Only then did Roman realize that the snake was real, and not a toy. He threw the snake to kids because he thought it was a fake snake and it was the kids who were playing some tricks.

This time Mom almost got a heart attack. Now Roman was scared, too. The snake was only 10 meters away from the kids and was staring at them. They even couldn’t call the rescue team. There might be some deadly damage before their arrival. There was not much time to think. It was the time for a quick action.

Paragraph 1:

As Roman was farther from the snake, he jumped onto the window and grabbed the curtains.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Paragraph 2:

After the rescue team caught and took the snake away, everyone went inside the home.

Once upon a time, there was a king who had gone to visit neigboring kingdoms. He was gifted a pair of baby parrots by the king of the last kingdom where he was visiting. They were the most beautiful birds he had ever seen. So, upon returning to his kingdom, he called for a bird trainer and asked him to train the parrots.

The king also arranged a place in the palace garden for the parrots. He often looked at them from his palace window. As time passed, one day the trainer came to the palace and informed the king that though one of the parrots was flying high in the sky, the other one was not moving from its branch since the day it had arrived.

Upon hearing this, the king sent for other trainers from the nearby kingdoms. They all tried their best, but couldn’t make the parrot fly! He even asked his courtiers to try to find a way to make the parrot fly but they all failed. The parrot was not moving from his branch at all. Finally, after trying everything, the king thought that maybe he needed someone who might be more familiar with natural habitat (栖息地). He asked a courtier to get a farmer from the countryside and take him to the parrot to see if he could find out what was the problem.

阅读下面短文,根据其内容和所给段落的开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

Melia and her father had just finished building a tree house in the backyard. Melia, an artist, wanted to decorate the walls, and instead of buying things, she decided to make her own art.

Melia enjoyed making collages (拼贴画). For her tree house, she thought she would use pictures from magazines. She could collect used magazines from neighbors, so the pictures would be free. And to create all her favorite things, she could add pretty leaves, and fruits of pine trees from the yard.

For several days, Melia collected bits of nature to use for the collage. Melia collected magazines from the neighbors. She piled both on the front entry, as her plan was to finish the art over the weekend. Oddly, though, when she added to the piles each day, many of the sticks and leaves were gone, and the pile of magazines was a mess.

“Dad? Mom?” Melia asked. “Have either of you been taking the supplies for my collage off the entry?”

“No, why on Earth would we do that?” her dad answered with a question.

“I don’t know, but what I do know is that someone is ruining my art project! It’s my mission to find out who and why!” Melia declared.

Who would want to steal this stuff? She had a plan. She cleaned up the rest of the leaves and threw the ruined magazines in the recycling bin. She started collecting old magazines again, hoping to set a trap. Even if she had to stay up all night, Melia was determined to solve the case.

Once she had collected a large pile of magazines, Melia formed several piles at the front door. She placed them close to the window so that she could catch the thief. She asked her parents if she could sleep on the sofa. “I know they’re used magazines, but I need them for my art project. I have to solve this case!”

Melia was determined to catch the thief, but she had a difficult time staying awake. Within a few hours, she had nodded off.

Just as the sun was rising, a slight scratching (挠) sound a woke her.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

“Mumma, I am going to the morning walk”, Rohan screamed while his mother was cooking in the kitchen.

His mother who was engaged in her work replied casually, and he went away. It was bitter cold outside. Though he had his cap and muffler (厚手套) with him, he could still perceive much cold. He followed his daily routine when something different happened to him. There laid a small puppy on the other side of the road, just beside a canal, who seemed shivering and trembling with the cold. He went towards it, looked into its eyes, experienced its pain and couldn’t help but pick it up on his hands. It was voiceless, but expressed everything to the boy, without any language.

There was no other thought which stroked his mind and he decided to take that puppy with him to his home. Then came a thought of his mother, who never liked dogs and restricted whenever possible. But his compassionate feeling overcame all his fears and he went back to his home, holding the puppy in his hands. He headed on towards his home though he wanted not to go and thought if he could delay his arrival at his home, but no way possible …

After five minutes of thoughtful walk, he reached his home, where was his mother, who was surely to be annoyed with a puppy in his hands. He got inside his home and underwent what was expected. His mother asked furiously “What is it?”, and continued a number of questions when Rohan uttered a single sentence “Mumma, he needs us”, which made her mother believe “What Love is”.

And his mother remembered the words of her favourite teacher “Love is the feeling to help someone when he is in need, knowing there would be barriers” .

One day, Billy was walking in the park when he suddenly came across a homeless dog. He initially was frightened of the dog, who glared and barked at him from the bushes.

“Hey there... You hungry?” Billy asked softly, trying to calm the dog down as he reached into his pocket to pull out a sandwich. He took one half and held it out to the dog. The dog calmed down, stepped forward and ate it next to Billy. A little calmer, Billy started to pat the dog as he ate the other half.

The dog began to lick (舔) his hand when both pieces were finished. “I’m sorry. That was the only sandwich I took with me,” Billy laughed cheerfully, fully lowering his guard. As he got up, the dog began running and jumping happily around Billy, hoping to play with him. “Sorry, buddy. I have to go home,” Billy said. The dog cautiously followed Billy. Later that evening, Billy saw the dog sitting outside his yard through the window. He immediately ran out to her. “Buddy, what are you doing here?” Billy asked as he playfully patted her. The dog wagged her tail, barking in delight.

“Alright. Let me try and see if my mom won’t mind taking you in,” Billy said.

Billy ran back and told his mom all about the dog. “Are you crazy, Billy? We barely have enough to sustain ourselves. I’m sorry, but it’s a no!” Mom declined him.

Billy accepted his mom’s words and went outside to say his goodbyes. However, when he got outside, he noticed the heavy storm was coming and felt for his new friend.

He had hoped that the dog would seek shelter somewhere, but she just sat there. He fig-ured she was still waiting for him, so he went out into the rain to try to lead his friend to shelter.

“Come on, girl! Go!” Billy said, trying to lead the dog to the nearby sheltered car park. But she wouldn’t move an inch. She stuck right by his side. The rain began to pour down harder.

Growing up, my family always had cats—but by the time I got to college, I wanted one l could call my own. So, I visited Animal Home in Michigan, looking for the perfect cat.

There was a black kitten I nearly ignored. He was skinny and small and not even cute, but he stuck his paws through the cage, trying to play with me. He was clearly interested in me, so I asked to hug him. He curled up on my shoulder and began purring(发出咕噜声). Our connection was immediate. I adopted him, named him Adam, and brought him home.

Over the next 16 years, Adam and I were so close. He was gentle, sweet and playful. But one night last year, everything changed.

It was as if one day Adam was still acting like a kitten, and then the next day he was vomiting(呕吐)all the time and no longer acting like his usual self. He'd lost weight and I knew that he was sick. I took him to the vet(兽医)and the diagnosis was sad: stomach cancer. Worse yet, the vet thought he was too old for operation. All I could do was give him medicine to help make him more comfortable.

A month later, Adam got worse. I took him to the emergency vet, where they kept him overnight to administer fluids(输液). When I went to pick him up the next morning, on Christmas Eve, the vet said it was time to end his life. It was the best thing to do for him. With deep sorrow, I said goodbye to him.

Once I got back home, reality hurt me much. Usually, Adam was there to wait for me at the door. But he was gone, leaving an aching emptiness in my life and in my home. I suffered from huge pain. I told my husband I didn't want another cat.

During the 25 years we’ve lived in our home, many cats have appeared on my porch (门廊), gazing through the glass door, silently begging for food. Well, what can I do? Certainly not ignore their lovely faces. Even as my husband says “Don’t feed these cats, Caren,” I am opening the door, with cat food bag in hand. These cats usually stay a few days, maybe a couple months before disappearing into the woods.

One evening while feeding the horses, I saw something move. I turned just in time to glimpse a black tail disappearing under our shed (小棚). Later, I saw a skinny young cat sneak around and finish the leftovers. The next time I saw her, she had a companion, a black male cat. I made sure to put out enough food for the both of them.

Pretty soon, they were appearing at dinnertime with our other cats. I named them Minnie and Freddy. I would give them food in separate containers, but they would walk up and down until I went back inside. Then, with no human near, they would devour their meals. This went on for a couple of weeks. One day, Freddy didn’t show up. We never saw him again.

But Minnie kept sticking around our room, dividing time between the shed and the porch. She was no longer skinny and looked quite nicely. I congratulated myself on her newfound health. However, she kept gaining weight —especially around her middle. Yup, she was pregnant (怀孕的).

In her small town, Emma was known for her love and respect for all living creatures, and she believed that humans and animals should coexist peacefully and harmoniously. One day, while hiking in the nearby woods, Emma spotted a wounded (受伤的) deer caught in a hunter's trap. Without hesitation, she carefully freed the deer and nursed it back to health.

Over the next few weeks, Emma devoted her time and energy to caring for the deer. She visited it every day after school, bringing fresh fruits and vegetables. She carefully examined its wounds, applying some medicine to help it get better and prevent infection. As the days went by, the deer began to regain its strength, and Emma was overjoyed to see it stand on its legs once again.

Emma also took the time to learn about deer behavior and their natural habitat. She researched the best foods to feed the deer and created a comfortable place for it to rest in during the day. She even made a small water fountain to ensure that the deer had access to clean drinking water.

As the weeks turned into months. Emma watched as the deer grew stronger and more confident. It would often follow her around the backyard, nudging (轻推) her playfully with its nose. Emma felt a deep sense of satisfaction knowing that she had played a part in saving this beautiful creature's life.

One sunny afternoon, as Emma sat in her backyard reading a book, she heard a familiar sound. She looked up and saw the deer standing near her, looking at her with gentle eyes. It was clear that the deer had fully recovered and was ready to return to the wild.

Emma felt a sense of sadness but also knew that it was time for the deer to go back to its natural habitat. She opened the gate and watched as the deer bounded away, disappearing into the forest. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写一段,使之构成一个完整的故事。

When my daughter Lily reached the fourth grade, I occasionally allowed her to walk to and from school alone. One warm spring day, a small friend followed her home after school. This friend had short stumpy legs and long floppy ears. She was the cutest puppy I had ever seen. And Lily begged me to keep her.

I didn’t know what to do. I thought about running an ad in the lost-and-found (失物招领处) but I really didn’t want to. It would break Lily’s heart if someone showed up. Besides, her owners should have watched her more closely, I told myself.

By the end of the week she was part of our family. She was very intelligent and good with Lily. This was a good idea, I thought. We had named the puppy Molly. She followed us everywhere we went. When we went outside, she was one step behind us. When we were back from school or work, she greeted us by wagging her tail and barking cheerfully. When we did chores, she was there to lend a hand, or rather, a paw. It seemed as if she had belonged to us long before.

The following week something told me to check the lost-and-found section in the local paper. One particular ad jumped out at me and my heart pounded with fear at what I read. Someone was begging for the return of a lost puppy near the school. They sounded desperate. My hand shook. I couldn’t bring myself to pick up the phone. But my conscience (良心) was bothering me. I knew in my heart I had to call that number and see if our Molly was the puppy they were desperately seeking. But it was the most difficult thing I’d ever done.

Finally, with sweaty palms, I lifted the phone and dialed. A woman answered. As I described the dog to her in detail, her voice shook with excitement and she wanted to come right over. Within minutes I heard a vehicle pull up at the driveway and some footsteps stop at the door. Head cradled in my hands and heart hammering, a thousand thoughts crossed my mind: I could pretend I wasn’t home or tell her, “I’m sorry, you have the wrong address.” But it was too late: the bell rang and Molly was barking.

In the heart of a forest, a nature photographer named Daniel discovered his heaven. This forest was a special place where the trees reached up high, their leaves forming a natural screen that lets speckles of sunlight filter through, creating a magic al play of light and shadow.

Daniel was famous for his wonderful wildlife photos, and he loved to spend time with the animals that called this forest home. He was fascinated by their daily lives and habits, pressing the shutter button and capturing those special moments in his photos.

He would often sit quietly, observing the animals in their natural setting.

The squirrels were some of his favorites. They’d dart around, scampering from tree to tree, busily gathering acorns (橡子) for the winter ahead. Sometimes, they’d take breaks to play games. In their spirited games of chase, they’d chase each other through the branches, their fluffy tails bouncing with excitement.

The deer, elegant and graceful, would graze in the lawn, their gentle eyes scanning the surroundings for any signs of danger. Sometimes, they would leap and bound, displaying their beauty in every jump. Birds of all colors and sizes would fill the forest with music, their songs echoing through the trees. Daniel loved to capture them mid-flight, their wings outstretched, as they soared above the treetops. Sometimes, he’d watch the raccoons (浣熊) as they washed their food by the stream, their nimble paws dipping into the water.

One crisp autumn day, he came across a young squirrel in great pain. He noticed the squirrel’s delicate pa w caught in a tangle of thorns (荆棘). The squirrel’s eyes, which were usually bright and full of curiosity, now held a different story, glistened with a mixture of pain and fear.

On my way to the park, I saw Ollie sitting on the steps of his house. “It’s finally nice spring weather,” I called. “Want to skateboard?” “Shhh,” he said softly. “You’ll scare him away!”

I was about to say “Who?” when I noticed the cutest little bird in the world just sitting on Ollie’s shoulder. “Whoa!” I whispered. “Where did he come from?” “He landed on this flowerpot,” said Ollie. “And when I bent down to make sure he was OK, he just jumped right onto my shoulder!” “This one definitely acts like someone’s lost pet,” I believed. “I agree,” said Ollie. “His owner must be so worried!”

“Hi,” I said to the bird in a gentle voice. “I wish you could tell us your name. And right then, the bird chirped (叽喳叫) back. Ollie smiled.” I don’t exactly speak bird language, but I’m pretty sure he just said his name is Blue. “Is Ollie right?” I asked. “If your name really is Blue, will you sing us a song?” And I know this sounds unbelievable, but Blue seemed to understand—because right then, he chirped a lot more!

When Ollie’s grandma, Abuela, stepped outside and saw the bird, she was very astonished. “This is a big adventure for such a small bird!” she said. “Let’s get you a nice drink of water and give the animal shelter a call.”

Abuela brought out a dish of water and the phone. Soon we got through to the animal shelter. “Sorry,” the man said. “No birds have been reported missing this week. You may as well put flyers up in your area and you can also check the Found Animal recordings every day.”

Luckily, Abuela’s friend Michiko, knowing all about birds, came over with a spare cage. “His name is Blue,” Ollie told her, “you know, until we find his owner.” “What an adorable bird!” Michiko screamed.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

I was eight years old and wasn’t aware of all the arrangements being made for our journey as a family to London in 1950. My mother was in great pain and wished to visit specialists in London. My father reluctantly had to sell our property in Queensland. The day before we boarded the ship, Father unwillingly said goodbye to his five-year-old cattle dog, Spider, who was loved by us all. Father’s friend Sandy was to be his guardian while we were overseas, as he had been getting to know Spider for many weeks.

Six weeks later, an airletter arrived from Sandy, giving my father the news that Spider had run away just two weeks after we had sailed. Sandy had advertised constantly on ABC and other regional newspapers. Despite many “sightings”, the dog was never found. It seems Spider just kept running and searching for us. As he was cattle dog, my father thought he would shoe or dingo-trapped, because of his appearance. But our family thought that Father held a secrets hope that Spider was still alive.

We sailed back to Australia two years later and re-established our home. My father immediately began his own search for Spider. One cold winter’s Saturday morning eight months after our return, my father had a call from an elderly lady living on her own on the outskirts of the town. As she told my father on the telephone, it was “just glimpses of a dingo-type dog in the shadows” of her disused tennis court. That was enough for my father to interrupt my homework.

We set off in his blue and black Jensen car which he had brought back from England. It was hardly the right vehicle for the rough roads we travelled that day. Five and a half hours later, we found the run-down old property. Sadly, she told my father that the “dingo dog” hadn’t been around for a few days. My father had a strange look in his eye. He put two fingers to his lips and did his special whistle for Spider.
