3 . Maybe your childhood piano lessons made you never want to play the piano again. Perhaps a piano is too expensive for you. Now, thanks to a program in Sydney called “Play Me, I’m yours”, people can play the piano in public places for free. They share beautiful music, and the program, also helps them communicate with each other.

The government has placed thirty pianos in different parts of the city, including in several parks, at a bus stop and on some streets. “Play Me, I’m yours” are written on them. People are invited to play music or sing songs with the pianos. The program has interested in lots of people to stop to watch or play the pianos.

“Play Me, I’m yours” is a part of the Sydney Festival. It is a project of the British artist, Luck Jerram. He wants to help people in the city know each other better. He thinks that so many people are sitting in front of computers and busy with their work all hours, and they almost have no chance to enjoy music. So he hopes this can help them relax and make new friends.

The program “Play Me, I’m yours” has also reached England and Brazil (巴西) before. It was warmly welcomed there. But its greatest success seems to come at the Sydney Festival. “It’s a chance for people to be creative, know others better and just have some fun,” Jerram said.

When I was in primary school, I     1     in love with reading. The books brought me to a wonderful world     2    (频繁；反复). The more I read, the more I wanted to know. However, my family is so poor that my parents couldn’t provide me w    3     books to read. I had to solve the problem myself.

There was a book shop near my home. One day I walked into the shop and     4    (捡起) a book. I didn’t know whether I could read there w    5     buying any books. 5 . It’s a Sunday morning. Linda goes shopping in a supermarket. It’s very big. All the things there are very cheap because it’s the first day for the supermarket, and there is a big sale.

There are a lot of people in the supermarket. And it is very crowded. Linda sees a little girl crying. She can’t find her grandma.

“What’s your grandma’s name?” asks Linda.

The little girl doesn’t know. She doesn’t know her grandma’s telephone number either.

Linda takes the little girl to the manager’s(经理的) office. “Don’t worry. Just stay with us and we can help you find your grandma on the radio.” says the manager.

A few minutes later, an old woman comes. The little girl finds her grandma at last.

“Thank you so much!” The grandma says to Linda and the manager.

Linda is very happy because she can do something to help others.

6 . She used to sleep on the sidewalk of the Fifth Street Post Office. I could smell her before I came close. She wore ________ clothes and her mouth was nearly toothless. I rarely saw her talk with others. If she was not ________, she talked to herself. I always had pity for her. ________ a poor old lady! She must be desperate (感到绝望的) and ________.

One Thanksgiving, we had lots of food left over. I thought about the old lady. She might be still hungry. So I ________ the food up and drove over to the Fifth Street.

7 . Ten years ago, my dad came home from work a little earlier. After supper, he said to us, “I think you need to practice loving others.” He went on, “Therefore, we’re going to help out at an orphanage（孤儿院）.” I couldn’t believe what I heard.

The holiday without a Christmas dinner wasn’t the one I expected（期待的）.

The next morning, we got up early. After a quick breakfast, we set out to the orphanage. As soon as we arrived there, all I could think about was the Christmas dinner I couldn’t enjoy. How disappointed I was! But the thoughts quickly disappeared. Over the next few hours, I watched the kids sitting around the tables and enjoying the dinner. They talked happily all the time. For some kids, this was the most delicious meal they ate that week. For others, it was an unusual Christmas dinner they would never forget. The kids were so happy. Laughter filled the orphanage.

Through this experience, I have learned a lot. Although I didn’t enjoy the Christmas dinner at home, I got much more pleasure. Now I am a 19-year-old college student. I will remember that Christmas Day forever.
