On the evening of February 17, 2024, heavy snow and rain hit Guazhou, Gansu. The highway closed and many passengers were left stranded (滞留). The local hotels could not accommodate (提供住宿) so many people.

At first, Wang and his family planned to accept only a family with three people. But they ended up hosting eleven passengers. They received Xu Weiming’s family at first, who were going to Xinjiang. Unable to continue the journey, the family of three finished supper in Guazhou and then discovered that there was no room remaining in local hotels. The restaurant owner recommended (推荐) Wang and gave his phone number to the family. Wang welcomed them by phone and went to pick them up at the restaurant five minutes later. Moved by Wang and his family, Xu posted a message on his WeChat Moments, saying “Love knows no bounds (界限), and thanks to the kind and helpful people”, to express his thanks.

After settling the Xu family, Wang and his family accepted Pei Jing’s family with four people. Later, Wang learned that Huo Ningning’s family, including a 7-month-old baby, had no place to stay. He brought the family of four to his house, let them stay in the study and slept on the sofa in the living room instead.

At 3 pm on February 18, the highway reopened and all the families left, continuing on their way home. Wang wished them a safe journey and said, “It is not easy being outside, and as long as I can help, I will do it. It is like having eleven relatives coming to visit during the Spring Festival.”
