To cheer up their neighbors in lockdown (封锁), an English family from Wellington colored every brick (砖) of their home with crayons to make a “rainbow house”.
26-year-old mother Fern Taylor started the work with her daughters, Arabella and Matilda. Her husband, Marco DeFazio, then used a ladder (梯子) to finish the work. “We got the idea when I saw a post online,” said Fern. “They did half the house, but Marco said we couldn’t stop there. He got the ladder out and did the rest.”
The family used big sticks of crayons, and it took them about six hours. They started with about 40 sticks. The girls really enjoyed it. Matilda is two. She didn’t quite understand, but she did help a bit. Arabella is four, and she was a good helper. She helped for half an hour. Then the girls sat and played, and watched their mom and dad doing the work.
“Many people have stopped by our house and smiled. They have taken photos. And they have really cheered up. It’s so sweet,” she said. “People would slow down when they drive past. We have even seen an ambulance(救护车). They just stopped and said they loved it.”
This is one of the many wonderful stories that are coming out of the COVID-19 news.

A police artist, Lin Yuhui, helped a Didi driver find his lost daughter. The good news has been reported on TV and newspapers around China.
On January 8th, 1994, the driver, Wang Mingqing, was selling fruits with his wife near Jiuyanqiao Bridge in Chengdu. Unluckily, their 4-year-old daughter Wang Qifeng was lost. From then on, they began to look for the little girl across Chengdu and their hometown. But there was no result.
In 2014, Mr. Wang became a Didi driver. So he put up a notice for her missing daughter on the car and handed out the notices to each passenger, though it seemed hopeless. In 2017, Xinhua News Agency reported Mr. Wang’s story. And the police went to Henan and Guangdong to look for the girl, but they didn’t succeed. The kind police artist, Mr. Lin, drew a picture by comparing little Qifeng’s photo with her younger sister’s photo. Then he put the picture on the Internet.
One day of 2018, a woman in Jilin found the photo was almost the same as herself. She called Wang Mingqing and found she was really their lost daughter in surprise. The family were together again on April 3rd.

7 . Indonesia is my mother’s homeland and one of my favorite countries. Since I was young, I had learned a lot about the country and become interested in it. For a long time I had wanted to do something for the country and people there, and I thought volunteering (做志愿者) would be a good and fun way to do so.
I received the greatest pleasure from being with the children. Teaching my first English class in Aceh was exciting, but I was rather nervous. As time passed by, I learned how to be a better teacher. Teaching was actually the most enjoyable of my many responsibilities (责任).
Many children were shy at first. But when they relaxed, they would start talking and telling you a lot of funny things. I believed we were helping them build up their confidence.
For the children who are more in need, The Education Program (TEP) will collect donations (募捐) to help them.
As a volunteer, I had to visit the TEP children at home once a month and help them write a thank-you letter to their sponsors. This was a way for the children to communicate with their sponsors. Sometimes the sponsors would write back to the children. Seeing the children’s happy faces, I had a great sense of pleasure.
