2 . Here’s something people don’t often think about: Helping helps even when there’s not a problem.

Getting into the habit of giving and receiving help builds good relationships. It makes us feel more care. It stops stress from building because we know someone else is thinking about us. And if there is a problem, we’re sharing it before it gets too serious. It just feels great to help.

Try these small practices at home and see how they make you feel:

· Help your little brother or sister with a homework problem.

· Help your mom prepare dinner.

· Help your dad carry living goods.

· Offer to do a chore that’s not usually yours.

There’s more to it than just feeling good: Kindness is contagious. It can create more kindness. So you might start to notice your family (or friends) reaching out to help more.

Just don’t fall into the trap (陷阱) of expectation (期待). If we help out only because we expect the other person to do something in return, we will probably end up feeling disappointed and angry instead of happy and fulfilled. So decide to help simply because of the positive feelings it creates. Then, when someone else does something nice for you (and it will happen), it’s a wonderful surprise.

Giving and receiving is one of the most basic friendship skills. With a good network of supportive people, we are less stressed. We feel loved and understood, so we’re better able to solve problems, come back from disappointments, and try again.

5 . It is reported that the UK will save thousands of red phone boxes. Its first phone box started appearing in 1921, and the special red style came out five years later.

As smart phones have become part of everyday life, the public (公共的) phone boxes may seem out of date. But Ofcom, the UK’s communications regulator (通信商), says they can still be a “lifeline” for people in need.

“People can use the phone boxes we plan to protect to make calls. If one of those calls is from a sad child, an accident victim (受害者), that phone line can be a lifeline at a time of great need,” says Selina Chadha, a leader in Ofcom.

Ofcom plans to protect 5,000 phone boxes, especially in poor areas where smart phones are not so common. “We also want to make sure that people in those areas, often in poor areas, can still make calls,” she adds.

According to the official report (官方报道), nearly half of the phone boxes in the UK have lost their places in people’s everyday life. Because more and more people use smart phones. It is said that people turned more than 6, 500 unused call boxes into mini community libraries or coffee shops under a plan called “Adopt a Kiosk”. It allows local organizations (当地组织) to buy a red phone for only one pound and turn the box into something useful.

It was a warm Sunday afternoon in May, 2021.     1     the Lech River many people were playing and picnicking, and they felt     2     and relaxed. Different from other teenagers, Abraham didn’t have     4     (interesting) in video games. He was sure of his wish to feed the homeless. In September, Make-A-Wish helped Abraham organize a day to give out food in Jackson, Mississippi. That day, Abrabam fed about 5 people and that made him     6     (excite).
