Like most children growing up in the countryside, Mike loved being outdoors and traveled around every inch of the area.

With a deep love of the land, he had a strong wish to _____ it. When Mike saw rubbish floating in the rivers, he got _____ . He knew he had to do something. While only in third grade, Mike started a group. Its purpose was to _____ the countryside and teach other young people about pollution and its dangers.

Every Saturday, Wang Fokun travels 40 minutes to “watch” a movie with his friends. He became blind in his early 50s. However, he can still enjoy movies in a “talking movie” club-Xin Deng Theater. The club is in Kunming, Yunnan. A group of volunteers there describe movies to blind people.

“I listened to a movie for the first time in the summer of 2019, and it was amazing. The volunteers did a great job.” said Wang.

Describing movies to blind people can be challenging (有挑战性的). The volunteers must watch a movie three or four times to know everything in the movie. This way, they can describe the movie very clearly.

Zhou Quan started the club in 2017. “Movies are for everybody,” said Zhou. “Xin Deng Theater hopes to share movies with blind people and help to light up their lives.” Thanks to the special club, many blind people go out of their homes and their lives are more interesting.

Now many blind people come to Xin Deng Theater to “watch” movies every week. “They can enjoy the movies here. I’m so glad that I bring enjoyment to them.” said Zhou.

“It’s meaningful for us to spend our free time volunteering.” said one volunteer.

One day, we stopped by a store to _________ a few things. Finally, we filled our shopping basket with many things. We got into the checkout (结账) line. A young man stood behind us with only a few things in his basket. My kids advised me that we let him go ahead of us. I _________ happily.

Mu Yi is a five-year-old boy, and he had cancer (癌症) when he was only three. He made many New Year’s wishes. There were 50 ones such as a movie, a beach trip and a day in school.

The boy’s wishes touched the hearts of people across the country. Many called the father to help the boy realize his wishes. One of the boy’s wishes is to meet Ultraman (奥特曼). With the help of the organization Childream, the official Ultraman will visit the boy when he feels comfortable.

Mu Yi is one of the children who got help from Childream. This organization helps children and teenagers (aged 2—18) who have cancer realize their dreams. Xu Wenjun gave up his job and set up Childream in Hangzhou, Zhejiang with his friend in 2016.

The Childream and teenagers have different wishes. Some like Mu Yi want to meet their favorite hero, some want to experience a day as a police officer, firefighter or racing car driver, and some want to give a concert. Childream has volunteers across the country. They try their best to help those children realize their wishes.

“These wishes are just like light, which can drive out the darkness. Realizing the wishes can help these children to feel strong and see hope and love in their life,” Xu says.

5 . As usual, Bob Green came and sat at this street corner, with the same hat on and the same umbrella beside him. He had been doing so for 9 years.

9 years ago, in order to make a living, Bob moved from a city to Boston because his house was burnt down. Nobody in Boston knew him, so one day Bob wore a hat, took an old umbrella, came to a street corner and sat down begging (乞讨). He put a paper box in front of him, expecting the rich to put a coin into it. It was Bob’s first day to beg like this. He felt very shy. It was getting dark. “The box was still empty. Bob was about to stop begging. Just then a young lady passed by and put 3 five-dollar bills into it. Moved deeply, Bob rose quickly and wanted to know the woman’s name. But she said nothing and left, with a smile on her face,

To Bob’s great surprise, he found a gold ring with diamond (钻石) on it in the box. It was worth millions of dollars. It must be the lady’s. After that, Bob worked hard in the morning and sat begging at the street corner in the afternoon.

Feeling a bit disappointed once more, Bob got up. Before he picked up his box, a woman’s voice came, “Wait a bit. Here are some coins for you!”

To Bob’s great joy, it was the woman whom he had been waiting for 9 years.
