6 . What’s your dream job? What do you think of working with penguins (企鹅)? Each year, the UK pays four people to live and work on Goudier Island from November to March.

The island is about the size of a football field. It’s home to hundreds of penguins. The four people need to keep it clean and serve thousands of tourists. They also need to count the penguins and collect environmental data (数据).

The job offers people a totally different experience. People have a chance to stay close to penguins. And they can watch the sun go down and hear the ice melting (融化). So lots of people would like to take it. But in fact, it’s not that perfect. For five months, workers have to live in a small house. They sleep in hard beds and share a bathroom and a camping toilet. Visiting ships will offer showers when they stop by. Besides, they live without running water, the Internet or mobile phone service.

“It’s quite hard work,” explained an officer. “Workers may work 12 hours a day. They need to keep the island clean. They spend a lot of time brushing penguin poop (粪便) off rocks. There is not much time for rest and fun.”

Still, the job is very popular. Hundreds of people would like to take it. One year, more than 2,500 people applied for (申请) it. Those who get the job will have a week’s training in Cambridge first. Then they will leave for Antarctica in October, where they will stay until March the next year. Depending on different work, people will get about 1,600 to 2,300 dollars each month.

    2     No. It was a physics class. The teacher is Xia Zhendong, a 31-year-old physics teacher. He works at a middle school in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province. Xia has won the hearts of millions of people online with his creative classroom experiments (实验) that make physics easy to understand and interesting.

Xia’s journey to bringing creative experiments into his teaching began six years ago. 9 . Emily lived in a small village near a big forest. The village was famous for its sunny weather, but one day, something unexpected happened.

One morning, Emily woke up early and had great fun in the forest with her dog, Buddy. As they walked deeper into the forest, Emily noticed the sky was getting dark. Thick, grey clouds covered the sun, making everything look dark.

The storm continued for a long time, and Emily had to stay in the cave. She was scared, but having Buddy by her side made her feel a little better.

Finally, the storm started to die down. The rain turned into drizzle and the thunder moved far away. Emily and Buddy left the cave and saw a changed world outside. The forest looked fresh and alive, with shiny leaves and flowers that seemed happier after the rain.

As Emily walked home, she felt amazed by what she had experienced. She started to see storms in a new way and learned that even during difficult times, there is always a small light of hope and a chance to grow. The colorful rainbow (彩虹) in the clear sky made her realize that something beautiful can come out of even the darkest times.
