1 . 请根据两个提示句进行故事续写,150词左右。

As my feet pound(咚咚地走) the pavement and my breath comes in shallow gasps, I pray that I won’t collapse(崩溃) and lie in a heap on the side of the road. I want to finish my first real race.

At 31, I am the oldest person in my running class. And I am the last to cross the finish line for every race.

My breathing is steady. My heartbeat establishes a rhythm(节奏) with the swinging of my arms and the pounding of my feet. I am no longer tired. The birds cheer me on with their song. The breeze ruffles my hair. This is why I love running. I am at the edge of my limits, but I am exhilarated.

I can sense the end getting closer. Then I see the finish line, surrounded by people cheering and waving their arms. My legs churn, and I imagine myself leaving a trail of smoke in my wake.

I cross the finish line, my husband hugs me tightly and wipes my tears. This is my fourth real race outside of my running class. This real race is an incredible challenge — one that I never thought I’d be up for.

When I was 17, I was in a car accident. The doctors told my parents I wouldn’t make it. I broke my collarbone(锁骨), pelvis, and both legs. Yet, I survived.

Then my parents were told I would never walk again. But I did. Every afternoon, I placed my hands on a walker and forced myself to put one foot in front of the other. I graduated to crutches(拐杖). And then to a cane. And finally to my own strength.

I spent months in physical therapy. Unluckily, I broke my leg again when I sat down hard at the bus stop one day. After six months of intense physical therapy, I was back to normal.

I was active from that point on. I walked, rode my bike, hiked with my husband, and worked out at gyms. And then, 13 years after the accident, I started running. And I loved it! I made a goal for myself of working up to running three miles. A girl at the gym encouraged me to enter a 5K race. I’d never run in a race, but I thought, Why not?

I started at the line with everyone else, but I was a slow runner.

2 . 阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。

It is possible to wake up first thing in the morning with excitement. But in order to do so, you need to turn your alarm clock into a positive trigger (触发器) first. To begin with, you need to set up a situation that's going to make the desired result happen, such as moving your alarm clock — the fact that the alarm clock is across the room or in some different room forces you out of bed to turn it off. And when you get out of bed, you’re off to a good start.

If you don’t have specific goals, you are unlikely to turn your alarm clock into a positive emotional trigger. In fact, without clear goals, you will have a hard time creating motivation (动机), happiness, hope, or a good future. You need very specific and realistic goals, because human beings are drawn toward the future, and only by owning specific goals can you own your future.

Everyone follows a routine in daily life. The point of a routine is to make the process smooth so you can make progress. However, what got you here won't get you there. Just because one routine helped you in the past doesn't mean it will help you now. For example, for over 3 years, I woke up, walked to a nearby coffee shop and wrote articles there. That routine helped me become a successful author. But that routine isn't fit for who I am now. To stay healthy, I recently started running first thing in the morning.

The last tip is starting your activity as soon as possible. If you wake up first thing in the morning but don’t get up at once, your brain will remain fuzzy (模糊的) longer than it needs to. How you spend the first few moments of your morning sends a powerful signal to your brain about how the rest of the day will go. If you wake up and immediately get going on a task, your brain will activate very quickly. The longer it takes to get started on your first task, the harder it will be to make progress.

3 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

Joe sat on his bed and looked at his birthday presents. They were great! Smart new sports shoes from his mum. A fishing rod (竿) from his dad. And best of all, his grandpa had given him a watch.   A proper, grown-up watch with a silver face.

Joe looked at the watch. It was so beautiful.

“Look after it, Joe,” said his mother. “It was expensive.”

Joe nodded. “I will, Mum. I promise. ”

That was last night — Saturday. Now it was Sunday, and Joe was going fishing.

“Are you wearing them to go fishing?”

Joe’s mum pointed at his new shoes. “It’s been raining all night, Joe. The river bank will be muddy (泥泞的). Wear your old shoes. ”

“No, it’s my birthday weekend,” said Joe. “I want to wear my new things. It will be okay. The rain has stopped now. ”

He quickly pulled on his jacket and left the house. “Bye!”

He knew a perfect place to fish. It was flat, like a little beach. He could stand really close to the water.

Soon he was there. The beach was empty. The only thing there was a huge white swan (天鹅). After seeing Joe, the swan walked into the water and sailed away. Joe began to fish.

An hour went by. Joe continued to fish happily. But the sky was getting dark. Rain! It began to fall. It was hard and heavy.

“Go away!” said Joe. “It’s my birthday weekend. I want to fish!”

The rain didn’t go away. It rained even harder.

Another hour went by. The rain didn’t stop. Joe was wet through, but he wouldn’t go home. It was his special day, and he was going to stay.

He threw his fishing line out again. But his hands were wet and the fishing rod was slippy (滑的). The rod flew out of his hands and dropped in the river.

“NO! My new rod!” He ran forward. But the beach had turned muddy. His new shoes were ruined in a moment. Then one of them came off completely. It was stuck in the mud behind him.

4 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

A wealthy master once owned a large farm with a big house, where he employed two servants to work in the fields.

One servant was very loyal to his master. He placed the command of his master in his heart and obeyed it while the other servant only heard the words of his master, but went on his own way.

The first servant, who loved his master more than himself, worked really hard. Every day he planted seeds under the sun. Though sometimes he felt so tired, he never quit; he just took a rest and thought of his master coming back. There were also times when he got hurt because of stones, insects and other harmful objects but still he never gave up; he continued doing what his master had commanded. He knew that someday all his hard work would pay off and that his master would be satisfied with him. But the other servant, who loved himself more than his master, enjoyed the pleasure of the world. He thought that his master would never know what he was doing. He used his freedom for his own sake. He just ignored his master’s command and followed his own will.

Many years passed, but still the master did not come back. The first servant went on working hard in the fields for a good harvest year after year while the other servant wandered around the world.

One day their master appeared suddenly and was pleased when he found one servant harvesting the crops in the fields. Of course, he was disappointed when he couldn’t find the other one.

The master called the two servants and explained why he had been away for such a long time.

7 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

Long ago, there lived two brothers who were very poor. They lived in small houses at opposite sides of their wheat field. Each year the brothers divided the grain they had grown into two equal parts. Although they worked hard from sunup to sundown, they hardly had enough to eat. In spite of this, they were happy because of their great love for each other.

But one year, Simon, the younger brother felt a great sadness. He was worried about his older brother, Ruben. Ruben was alone in the world, with neither wife nor children. “Who will care for him when he gets old and can no longer work? If only he had some money to save for his old age! It isn’t fair that we share the harvest equally. But he will not accept gifts from me. What shall I do?” he thought.

At the same time, Ruben was sitting under a tree, thinking deeply. He thought his brother, Simon, needed to support a family. “I have no family. It isn’t fair that we share the harvest equally. Surely he deserves more than I! I must think of a plan to help him.”

That midnight, Ruben went quietly to his barn (粮仓) where he filled a sack (麻袋) with wheat and put it on his shoulder. Then he crossed the field to his brother’s house and secretly placed his wheat with Simon’s.

9 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

Devin opened his closet door for the third time and pulled out his shoes. “Mom, have you seen my baseball glove?” he called.

“I’ve looked everywhere. When was the last time you had it?” Mom asked.

“Yesterday,” Devin said. “I was playing catch with Silvio after his birthday party.”

“I hope you didn’t leave it there,” Mom said. Devin’s cousin, Silvio, lived 45 minutes away. Mom pulled out her phone and texted Uncle Gabe.

Devin still kneeled on the floor and checked under his bed. Within a minute, Mom’s phone received a message from Uncle Gabe, saying Devin’s baseball glove was there. Devin shook his head. “I have a game in an hour! Dad’s a lefty (左撇子), so I can’t borrow his glove.” “Use mine,” said Mom. “But it’s a softball glove and pink,” said Devin doubtfully. But Mom said there was not much difference and that her team won the city championship with their pink gloves last summer. “People will think it’s a girl’s,” said Devin. “Some of the best players on your team are girls,” Mom said. She handed Devin her glove. He tried it on. “Top of the line,” Mom said. “I had the fewest errors of any infielder (内野手) in the league.” Devin nodded. Both of his parents were excellent athletes, and he was too. He snapped the glove open and shut, open and shut, thinking, “I guess this glove will do.”

Then Mom drove Devin to the field. She told Devin that Dad would meet them there and she reminded Devin not to forget her pink glove.

Before the game, Devin practiced pitching (投球) deep into the center field. He hit several more pitches before the coach told him to warm up at the base.

His teammates noticed his glove. “Isn’t that a girl’s glove?” Jordan, one of his teammates, asked. Devin frowned. “It’s my mom’s. I don’t have mine.” “Pink glove! Pink glove!” several other boys also laughed.

10 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

On the snowy morning before Christmas, my cousins Bonnie and Ruby were making snowmen and throwing snowballs to each other while I was trying to catch the snowflakes. I was eleven years old and had been living with my aunt and her large family since I’d lost my mother a year earlier. My dad, who was working out of state and could only see me occasionally, was on his way home.

My cousins and I went into the kitchen where my aunt had been cooking for hours. As my cousins eyed the pies, I asked my aunt for the sixth time that morning, “Shouldn’t he be here by now?” “He’ll be here when he gets here. You need to be patient, dear!” she said.

My aunt and uncle were kind to me and I loved them and my cousins, but there were times when I felt lonely in this large family. I compared myself to the fruit salad my aunt was making. The cousins were the apples, pears, grapes and peaches that were all homegrown and belonged together. I was the pineapple that my aunt had just added. While it blended in, anyone eating it knew it was a foreign ingredient. So I often prayed to myself, “Please present me with a mother and a warm home.”

My steps were slow as I followed my cousins to the back door. “If you girls go to the top of the hill, you’ll see his car when it comes around,” my aunt’s voice became soft when she saw my slumped (耷拉着的) shoulders.

We’d barely gotten to the top of the hill when we heard the sound of a motor and saw my father’s car coming around. As it pulled to a stop beside the front gate, I ran down the hill immediately. Suddenly, a redheaded woman stepped between us. “I’ve been so anxious to meet you that I couldn’t resist hugging you,” she said. Then I found myself enfolded in soft arms that reminded me of my mother.
