3 . People are consumers(消费者). We have to spend large parts of our days finding，buying，cooking and eating our food．Did you ever think it might be nice to be able to make your own food like plants do?     1     They perform a process called photosynthesis using light from the sun, water and carbon dioxide. The end result of this chemical reaction is sugar for the plant to “eat”. The plant gives off water and oxygen.

    2     Plants have special structures called chloroplasts(叶绿体) that animals don’t have. These structures are filled with chlorophyll, which gives leafy green plants their green color. Their main job is to absorb light from the sun. Chloroplasts can absorb every color except green. Light makes chlorophyll active. It creates an energy that separates water out into hydrogen and oxygen.    3    

Hydrogen from the water combines with carbon from the carbon dioxide we breathe out. Oxygen is sent out into the air.

    4     Plants rely on the carbon dioxide that we breathe out, and we rely on the oxygen that they “breathe” out. This is one good reason for protecting plant life on Earth. Many plants can produce a constant supply of oxygen for us. We need plants in order to survive.

Conservation(保护) projects around the globe are aimed at protecting our natural resources，including numerous species of plants.    5    

7 . TikTok has pushed a new safety update in November to its app that allows parents to take more control of their teenager's accounts, as social media companies come under increasing pressure to make their platforms safer for children.

The company said Tuesday that its “Family Pairing” feature now enables parents to turn off comments on their children's videos entirely or to limit them to friends only. Parents whose accounts are linked to their kids will also be able to set their accounts to private, turn off the search function for content, users or sounds, and limit who can see which videos their children have liked.

Launched (发布) in March, the Family Pairing tool lets parents see how long their children are spending on TikTok each day and limit the content they can see.

TikTok allows children to register and create an account if they're over the age of 13. All they need to do is provide their date of birth. However, because TikTok doesn't require registers to prove their identities, some children under 13 have registered by lying about their age，according to U. K. regulator Ofcom (英国通讯管理局).

Alexandra Evans, head of child safety public policy for TikTok in Europe, told CNBC that Family Pairing has “put itself in parents’ shoes” since it was launched.

“If we're thinking about it as a toolbox, we wanted to offer more tools,” she said on a video call ahead of the announcement.

“One dollar and eleven cents, ” Michelle answered in a low voice. “And it's all the money I have, but I can some more if I need to.”

“Well, ” smiled the man. “A dollar and eleven cents— the exact price of a miracle for little brothers. Show me the place where your brothers lives.”

Holding the man's hand firmly , Michelle took him home.
