1 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

One day, my brother and I were in our apartment. My parents had both gone for a party and had left me in charge of everything. I was doing my homework while my younger brother was watching TV. All of a sudden, the doorbell rang. Dingdong! Dingdong! My younger brother had rushed to the door before I decided to answer the door. We both thought that our parents had come home. As a result, he unlocked the door and opened it.

Outside of the house stood a man who wore a black raincoat and black rubber boots. He looked no different from other people and said that he was a salesman and asked politely if our mother or father was at home so he could talk with them.

Without thinking, my brother said,“No.” He asked if we would like to buy some comic books (漫画书), which he was selling. I quickly explained to him that we were not supposed to buy anything without our parents’ permission. However, it seemed that he was not willing to follow my advice and he had an intention to enter our house.

Then, I realized something terrible would happen. As I was about to close the door, he forced his way into our house. He forced me to tie up my brother’s hands with the rope which he took out from his pocket. I tied up his hands but tied it in a special way so my brother could untie (解开) it himself as we often did. The man then tied my hands up and locked both of us in the kitchen.

Soon, he went upstairs to search the bedroom for something valuable. I managed to teach my brother to untie the rope on his hands. He then untied it for me. I rushed to the telephone to call the police, but the line was dead.

2 . 阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。

A quite funny thing happened to me last Friday. It was a fine day and I went to London to do some shopping. I had planned to get some Christmas presents. I also needed to find some books for my course at college as I am a student of Oxford.

That morning I caught an early train to London, so by early afternoon I could buy something that I wanted. Anyway, I’m not very fond of London, all the noise and traffic, and I made some arrangements for that evening. I took a taxi to Waterloo station. I couldn't really afford a taxi, but I wanted to catch the 3:30 p.m. train. Unfortunately, the taxi got stuck in a traffic jam, and by the time I got to the Waterloo station the train had just gone. Disappointedly, I had to wait an hour for the next one. While I was waiting, I bought myself an evening newspaper, The Standard, and wandered over to the station buffet (自助餐). At that time of the day it was nearly empty, and I bought a coffee and a packet of biscuits (饼干)—chocolate biscuits. I’m very fond of chocolate biscuits. I found that there were plenty of empty tables and I sat by one near the window, where I could cozily enjoy my beverage and biscuits. Then, I began doing the crossword. I always enjoy doing crossword puzzles.(填字游戏)

After a couple of minutes a man sat down just opposite me. It seemed that there was nothing special about him, except that he was very tall. In fact, judging from his clean dark suit and a fine briefcase, he looked pretty like a typical city businessman. I didn’t say anything and I carried on with my crossword.

2)所续写短文的词数不少于70词;

3 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。续写的词数应为150左右。

When Chase Hansen was only 4 years old, he encountered (邂逅) some homeless people while shopping with his dad and he wanted to help them. After a conversation between the father and son about homelessness, they decided to do something for the homeless.

They convinced a local Jamba Juice store to donate more than 100 smoothies (沙冰) and the pair gave them out to homeless people in a park.

After that, they came up with an even better idea. “I wanted a way to get to know people better. So, my dad and I decided to start taking some of the homeless people we’d met out for a meal,” said Chase.

Now, six years later, the pair still spend their weekends taking homeless people out for a meal and they start conversations with their new acquaintances during the meal.

“I would ask them where they were from, what their hobbies were,” said Chase. “And sometimes they’d share their stories of how they became homeless.”

“A lot of people walk right past homeless people and don’t see the person,” said Chase. “Now I know they’re people just like us. They need care from others so that they won’t feel so lonely in the world.”

Thousands of lunches later, they run a self-funded charity called Project Empathy (同情) to help inspire others to meet and create relationships with the homeless people in their neighborhoods.

“I just want more people to know that they can do this in their own town,” said Chase. “When you have a meal with a homeless person or just sit and talk to them, it helps to lift their life.”

Hansen said that this way of spending quality time with his son has changed both of them. “Chase and I realized that the country needed an army of people to practice empathy. By doing something as simple as taking a homeless person for a meal, we could maybe inspire others to do the game,” said Hansen.

Paragraph 1:

4 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

My first year living in Los Angeles, I was a birthday-party clown (小丑). I struggled a lot with my identity because, though I viewed myself as a filmmaker, everyone in my life viewed me as this ridiculous day job. To make matters more confusing, being a clown is itself an identity-masking job. You wear makeup to cover your features. Sometimes I’d have to wear a mask and completely cover my face.

For certain parties, I’d have to go as a specific character. The way that would work is someone from the company would drop off costumes for me the night before a party at an appointed spot. It was like a shameful deal.

One night, they handed me my trash bag and said, “Tomorrow you’re going to be Batman.” Now, keep in mind that at the time I had a giant moustache. I know: a clown with a moustache—that’s a huge red flag for parents. But I hadn’t wanted to change my physical appearance for that job, because that would have been me subconsciously (下意识地) admitting I was more of a clown than an artist, So for the party, I chose not to shave.

The next day, I went to the party. It was at this huge public park, and I had to leave my car parked far enough away so that the kids couldn’t see me getting off my car. So I was all the way on the edge of the park, and the only way for me to get to the party was to walk to it. Normally at these parties, all you have going for you is the element of surprise. You pop in through the front door: “Surprise! Batman’s here!” All the kids go crazy. Without the element of surprise, these visits are meaningless. So I thought, “Should I try to make an entrance (入场) for them?” Reflecting what to do next, I heard a scream, “Look, a Batman with a moustache!” Suddenly, the entire party broke out in laughter.

5 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

Sherry Anne Lipski was born and raised in New York City. Sherry loved the city. It was her home. And most of her closest friends lived just a few blocks away. She could call any of them and, in minutes, they could gather together at the ice cream shop, pizza place, or one of the local playgrounds. When Sherry’s friends got a message from her to meet at the playground, they knew what she wanted to do: play handball.

American handball is a popular game, most often played in cities, especially New York. It is kind of like tennis except there is no net. Sherry could play handball for hours and hours. With that much practice, she became the best player in her entire neighborhood, winning every time she walked onto a court. Her friends would challenge her, even though knowing that they would definitely lose, but played anyway just to have some fun.

Toward the end of her fourth grade, her parents told Sherry some very upsetting news.

“Sherry, her mother began, worried that her daughter might cry.” Your father has been given a wonderful new job by the company he works for.

“Yes, Sherry,” her father added. “I’m very excited about it. It’s a promotion, which means we can have a much more comfortable life together.”

“OK...” Sherry was unsure why they were speaking to her in such a way when it sounded like good news. Then it became clear.

“Unfortunately,” her mother said, “we have to move to Pennsylvania where your father has been asked to work.”

“We know that you’ll miss your New York home, Shey,” said her dad. “But you’re a wonderful young lady. We know you will make some new friends there.”

Sherry began to cry right away. Her parents comforted her, but she drowned herself in sadness, especially when she thought of saying goodbye to all of her childhood friends and the neighborhood where she grew up.

A long time ago, people lived happily under the rule of a king. The people of the kingdom were very happy as they led a very easy life because they are rich and have nothing to worry about. Once, the king decided to visit historically important places in the distance. He decided to travel on foot to interact with (互动) his people. .

People of distant places were very happy to have a conversation with their king. They were proud that their king had a kind heart.

After several weeks of travel, the king returned to the palace. He was quite happy that he had visited many places and seen his people leading a rich life.

However, he had one regret. He had intolerable (无法忍受的) pain in his feet as it was his first trip on foot walking a long distance. He complained to his ministers (大臣) that the roads weren’t comfortable and that they were very hard and hurt his feet. He said that he was very much worried about the people who had to walk along those roads as it would be painful for them too!

Considering all this, he ordered his people to cover (铺) the roads in the whole country with leather (皮革) so that the people of his kingdom could walk comfortably.

The king’s ministers were surprised to hear his order as it would mean that thousands of cows would have to be killed in order to get plenty of leather. And it would also cost a lot of money.

A wise minister came to the king.

7 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写一段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。续写的词数应为100左右。

Christmas was hanging around. Six-year-old David was thinking what presents he could get from Santa. He wanted slippers; he wanted a silk tie; he wanted some toys. And school starting soon, he also hoped to get something about schooling. In order to get Santa to know what he needed, he thought he would write a letter to Santa, which he believed would bring him those presents. He found a sheet and made a list of the items on it, and then bent down to post the letter up the chimney, waiting for the winds to take it up.

David got up very early on the Christmas morning. He searched his room carefully, but to his disappointment, he didn’t find the presents he hoped for. Hadn’t Santa received the letter? Was he too busy to send him the gifts? Although feeling a little upset, David was convinced that Santa would not forget him and he was bound to receive the items.

Many years had passed and 2019 came. In an old house, a young builder, Lewis Shaw was removing the fireplace with his colleagues when he suddenly found a small piece of paper, which was still in perfect condition even if it had turned yellow. He picked it up and unfolded it. It was a letter written to Santa. The touching hand-written note read:

Dear Father Christmas,

Please can you send me a drum, box of chalks, slippers, silk tie, pencil box, any little toys you have to spare?

Love David

It was then signed off with lots of kisses.

This was the very letter written by David and the house was where he had lived during his childhood! The letter struck Shaw so much. How simple Christmas once was! David didn’t ask for much, just the things he just needed. Nowadays kids always want expensive gifts and take it for granted.

Shaw decided to find out the author of the letter. He shared a photo of the note on Facebook.

8 . 阅读下面材料, 根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写一段, 使之构成一篇完整的短文应为100左右。

David is a 22-year-old man. Not having received a college education, he found it difficult to find a job. He worked at a small company and wasn’t paid well. He thought life was unfair and often complained.

One day, his boss asked him to go to his office. To his sadness, he was told he didn’t need to come to work again.

That day, David didn’t go straight back to the small apartment he shared with another man. He wanted to find a quiet place and sit there quietly for some time. Having lost his job, he had no idea what to do.

He walked and walked. Finally he stopped in front of a beautiful house. The house had a very big garden behind it. He saw an old man sitting in the garden.

“The old man must be a millionaire (百万富翁)”, thought David. “How I wish I were him! If I were him, I wouldn’t have to work and I’d have a large amount of money. I would be the happiest man in the whole world.”

Thinking how poor he was, David was even sadder. He hurriedly walked forward and found a place and sat there quietly.

Finally, he became hungry and decided to go back home. On his way back home, he passed the old man’s house again. This time the man was sitting in his front yard. When David passed by him, he noticed that the old man was looking at him. The old man looked as if he admired him very much. David was confused. Why would such a rich man admire him? He was so poor while he was so rich.

Finally, David decided to have a talk with the old man. So he stopped and walked to the old man.

“Hello,” he said.

“Hello,” said the old man.

Then they started talking. David told the old man he really admired him.

“You have such a beautiful house. You’re so rich! How I wish I were you!” said David.

Hearing that, the old man smiled and said, “And I admire you, too! I wish I were you! If I were you, I’d still enjoy my youth. Now I’m so old. Wealth doesn’t mean much to me!”

Paragraph:

What the old man said struck (击中) David.

9 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。续写的词数应为150左右。

My uncle was a forest officer and this time he brought me there. His house was in the forest. When we arrived,Eric saw us and came rushing to open the garden gate. He was an elderly man who did my uncle’s cooking and other household work.

“How are you?” I called out. “I’m all right,” he said, “but Papal isn’t.”

My uncle, who walked ahead of us, stopped and asked, “Why Eric, what is wrong with our friend?”

“From the day you went, she has not been eating properly,” answered Eric. My uncle looked worried.

“Who is Papal?” I asked Eric. “Why! Don’t you know? Here she is.”

I turned round. My heart skipped a beat. There was Papal, a Royal Bengal tiger, giving my uncle a tremendous welcome by licking (舔) his face. Then she caught sight of me and came still while she sniffed me all over. But when she tried to lick my face, I always refused. Later I was told that Papal’s mother was killed when she was only ten days old. I felt sorry for her.

Soon my uncle left for work. I wondered how to pass my time. There was a small pond behind the house and I liked to sit beside it. I got up. Immediately Papal moved her tail to show she had seen me move. I could no longer bear the feeling of being constantly watched by two silent eyes. I walked off angrily and sat beside the pond. “WOOSH! ! !” I heard a splashing sound. I looked up. Papal had dived into the water and was swimming in the pond. Soon she came out of the pond and sat breathing in front of me. Then Papal growled (咆哮).

After a while, Papal growled again—this time there was something urgent in her growl. I could not help turning back and looking at her. She was staring at something in front of me. I looked in the same direction and broke into a cold sweat(冒冷汗)! There was a snake less than six feet away!

The snake was ready to attack me .
