4 . Do you find it difficult to feel content in your own company? Do you feel pressure to be constantly connected to others, resulting in overwhelming anxiety when you’re alone? If the answer is yes, then you’ll be pleased to learn that there are tips to help you enjoy solitude without feeling lonely.
Find companionship in your passion
Whether your passion is art, writing, or knitting, being alone is a great opportunity to get connected to it. Investing mindful, quality time into doing something you love is beneficial to your mental health.
Design a plan
You may find yourself just going through the motions in life. While structure is a good thing, it can also prevent us from moving forward. When you’re alone, sit down with a pen and paper and design a plan.
One of the biggest consequences of finding yourself alone is that you may automatically believe you’re bored.
Practice Meditation
Please understand that loneliness is a feeling, one you can take control of. If you’re a social person most of the time, when you’re alone your brain maybe guilty of convincing you there’s something wrong.

5 . Fears are a normal part of childhood. Sometimes kids are afraid of imaginary things, like monsters. But often, fears are related to what’s going on in their lives. Learning to cope with fear isn’t always easy.
Take the fear seriously.
Sometimes to help our kids, we say things like “There’s nothing to be scared of.”
Make a list.
Work with your child to list the things or situations that cause fear. Go over your child’s worst-case scenario(情况).
Break the fear into smaller pieces.
Tackling a fear all at once can be difficult.
Cheer your child on.
A.You can group similar fears. |
B.This doesn’t make your child less afraid. |
C.Change takes time and doesn’t happen all at once. |
D.Ask specific questions to help your child explain it. |
E.It’s tough for some kids who learn and think differently. |
F.Putting the fear into words can help reduce the child’s concern. |
G.Instead, try smaller steps to reach the goal of conquering a fear. |
I’m sorry to hear that life is getting you down right now ... I’m not sure there’s any specific advice I can give to cheer you up. It’s sometimes quite annoying to be reminded how much people love you when you don’t love yourself that much.
I’ve found that it’s of some help to compare one’s moods(情绪)about the world to the weather. Here are some obvious things about the weather:
It’s real.
If it’s dark and rainy, it really is.
It isn’t under one’s control as to when the rain stops, but it will stop one day.
You can’t change it by wishing it away.
It really is the same with one’s moods. The wrong approach is to believe that they are illusions(幻想). Panic, anxiety and anger are as real as weather.
But they will pass; they really will.
In the same way that one has to accept the weather, one has to accept how one feels about life. “Today’s a bad day” is a perfect approach.“Hey-ho, it’s raining inside; it isn’t my mistake, and there’s nothing I can do about it. But when the sun comes out, I shall take full advantage.”
I don’t know if any of that is of any use... I just hope this brings you a little more pleasure and purpose in life.
Best wishes!
Yours,
Stephen Fry

How is everything going? I have been in Leeds for more than 3 months. I miss you all so much during this time, especially at this turning of the year. I still remember the Christmas and New Year party we had together last year. It is a pity that I cannot celebrate this great festival with you this year, but I hope I can share my happiness with you through this letter.
After I entered in the British University, I realized that the foundation course I have taken is extremely important and helpful. Actually, most of the content of my present module has already been covered by IFY. Therefore, it is not difficult to follow the lectures and tutorials. Compared to the other Chinese students who took the foundation course in Britain, we are in a better stage in terms of both academic English and the knowledge of re levant subjects. More importantly, the IFY course has fully prepared us for the new style of study here. I would like to thank Juliet, Paul, Net, Scott and Chris with all my heart, because without your help, I wouldn’t be able to cope with the study in Britain.
I would also like to thank Cynthia, Sophia, Cathy and all the other staff in Qingdao ACE Programme. Thanks for your help in the last year, and thanks for your advice on my choice of university. It is you who make studying abroad possible for me.
The last one year’s study in IFY course was one of my most pleasant memories. While coping with the challenges of life in Britain, I always think back to the time when I was with you. I cannot forget every lectures and tutorials, and I cannot forget the times that we played together. You are not only my teachers, but also my good friends . I will miss you all. Hope I can see you when I go back to Chin a in summer.
Wish you every success in your life and keep good mood every day!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Love,
Phoebe

9 . Anger has a bad reputation.
But what if anger is a valuable-friend, not an adversary (对手) to be defeated?
Anger has one main purpose — to secure our safety and survival. We respond with anger when we are threatened or when our boundaries are violated (侵犯).
What we need is a willingness to experience anger without suppressing it or discharging it immediately. When we have the courage to remain present with our anger, we can look directly at it. We can investigate and come to understand it, and we can extract its wisdom.
Anger, like a fire, is a force. Left unchecked, it can be destructive.

F.When we have the courage to remain present with our anger, we can look directly at it. |
G.When it bursts out, it can take control of our body, our thoughts, our senses, and our actions. |
