文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章主要针对如何更好地游览博物馆给出一些建议。

1 . Museums become the next stop many students want to visit at their leisure.    1     However, the experience of visiting a museum could be quite disappointing if not done right, even for the experienced museumgoers.

2    . No matter how much you’re enjoying yourself, many museums can take hours, days, or even weeks to fully explore. If you try to put it all in, you will get worn out to the point that you won’t really be seeing anything. Pick a few paintings and explore them in a detailed way, and your museum experience will be more relaxing.

Have you ever started your visit by waiting in line in front of the museum for a few hours just to get in? And that’s the sad reality when visiting many of those world-famous museums. Thus, be smart to browse the instructions for visiting and book in advance online.    3    .

What if you don’t like some museums? Then don’t visit them! I’m not a massive fan of parks, so I would hardly ever end up in any park while travelling.    4    Do they have a nice collection of an art style you love? Just ask yourself and visit the museum website to see what the highlights are.

There is nothing worse than impolite manners while visiting. We’ve all witnessed that guy being yelled at by the security for touching or taking flash photos.    5    .Otherwise, not only will you absolutely get embarrassed by security guards, but you can actually ruin artworks!

All of these ground rules are often neglected by us. Bear them in mind before setting off, and you will enjoy your museum tour!

A.It’s the same with the museums
B.But most of them do it all wrong
C.If you haven’t, don’t let it be you
D.That way you can have an easy access
E.The first step is to research how to enjoy everything
F.Sometimes you may sigh museum tiredness is a real thing
G.Generally, there is no right or wrong way to visit a museum

2 . Want a relaxing but fun challenge at home?     1     Puzzles have been around for more than 250 years and the challenge of working out where each piece goes and carefully recreating the scene on the box lid can keep you busy for hours, days or even weeks.

Puzzles come in a huge range of sizes and difficulty levels. For beginners, a 100-piece puzzle is usually a good starting point.    2     Try grouping pieces with the same colours or design because they will probably go in the same area once the puzzle takes shape.

3     Those pieces are easier to find because they have a straight side. Stay patient as you search through and try to make it fit together. You may not find any connecting pieces for ages but then several may suddenly appear.

For a real test, puzzles that have 1,000 pieces or more are a tough task and it’s best to complete them with friends or family if you can. Choosing a scene that interests you, such as a favourite film, sport or location, can help keep you interested and determined to work to the final piece. You can get fun educational puzzles, too.     4

Some of the best places to pick up puzzles are charity shops. They’re often on sale for less     than €5. Once you have completed a puzzle it’s nice to exchange it with a friend.     5     You just upload an image, such as a family scene, and they will make a puzzle from it and post it to you. It makes lovely and unusual present.

A.So others can have a go.
B.You can’t beat a good puzzle.
C.Some companies make personalised puzzles.
D.However, a good start doesn’t always lead to a good result.
E.Most people like to start by getting the four edges of a puzzle laid out.
F.It can get you used to sorting out how the shapes, patterns and colours go together.
G.For example, you may try a map of the world, historical timelines or the periodic table.

3 . How to Make Friends

Friendship is a very important human relationship and everyone needs good friends. Good friendship has many benefits. It offers companionship, improves self-worth and promotes good health. There are times in our lives such as when we have recently moved into a new town, or changed our jobs or schools. Such changes often leave us without a friend.     1     But for many of us the process is difficult and requires courage. Below are some helpful suggestions on how to make and keep friends.

Choosing friends with common interests is important in building friendship as these interests would always bring you and your friend together. Hanging out will always be a pleasant experience.

4. Let it grow.

4 . Sometimes, you are not good at some of your subjects.     1     You probably think you will never be a top student. This is not necessary so, however. Anyone can become a better student if you want to. Here’s how:

Plan your time carefully. When you plan your work, you should make a list of things that you have to do. After making this list, you should make a schedule of your time. First your time for eating, sleeping, dressing, etc., then decide a good, regular time for studying.     2     A weekly schedule may not solve all your problems, but it will force you to realize what is happening to your time.

Find a good place to study. Look around the house for a good study area. Keep this space, which may be a desk or simply a corner of your room, free of everything but study materials. No games, radios, or television! When you sit down to study, concentrate on the subject.

Make good use of your time in class.     3     Listening carefully in class means less work later. Taking notes will help you remember what the teachers say.

Study regularly. When you get home from school, go over your notes, review the important points that your teacher is going to discuss the next day, read that material.     4     If you do these things regularly, the material will become more meaningful, and you will remember it longer.

Develop a good attitude about tests. The purpose of a test is to show what you have learned about a subject. It helps you remember your new knowledge. The world won’t end if you don’t pass a test, so don’t be over worried.

5     You will probably discover them after you have tried these.

A.Maybe you are an average student.
B.This will help you understand the next class.
C.Don’t forget to set aside enough time for entertainment.
D.No one can become a top student unless he or she works hard.
E.There are other methods that might help you with your studying.
F.Take advantage of class time to listen to everything the teachers say.
G.Make full use of class time to take notes of what the teachers say in class.

5 . Last week a senior high school student named Sam wrote to me, “I have felt down lately. I am on my school basketball team, and for a long time was the best player.     1     Now, when he is praised by teachers and classmates, I get upset and feel jealous. What should I do?”

The following is my advice to him:

2     But unfortunately, that feeling is rarely permanent. There will always be someone out there who is just a little better than you. And the same goes for that person. You can use this motivation to keep working hard and get back on top.

As an athlete, I’m sure you are familiar with competition. Having a healthy competitive spirit is what motivates people to constantly try to be better.     3

Further more, as a team member, you must be aware that a teammate’s victory is also yours. Your role on a team is not to outshine everyone you play with. It’s to work together to be successful.

Working as a team means celebrating victories and facing losses together. I am sure this is much harder than it sounds. But try as hard as you can to brush it off and work harder. It is not just related to your own athletic skills, but all of the characteristics that make someone a strong leader.     4     You should be the person that holds others up when it’s their turn.

It isn’t easy to simply ignore the feeling of jealousy.     5     But remember that you can be that person that people look up to on and off the court by being a good leader and accepting when maybe that means being second best.

A.It is quite a normal feeling.
B.It feels great to have others admire us.
C.Team spirit has been attached much importance to.
D.Your team can put on a good show in a competition.
E.These include perseverance, empathy and selflessness.
F.However, I lost this title to another team member recently.
G.Sure, it comes with the risk of failure, but most things that are worth pursuing do.

6 . A large sum of money is spent during the festival season. However, the chances are that you can save. Here are some tips to help keep yourself from overspending.

Be sure to feel at home with those around you.     1    , the advertising industry doesn’t mind going to trouble to appeal to your emotions so as to motivate you to buy their products. And it usually does the trick. So, have contacts with the people you love and make yourself feel good and easy rather than get caught in their marketing trap,.

Don’t buy anything on an impulse. Ever heard of the saying, “A fool and his money are soon parted”?     2    .

Why not rent?     3    . After all, how often will you be wearing that dress?

4    . As for clothes, you are supposed to pick out the unused often. Selling them on eBay or Carousell can give you extra cash to go shopping with.

B.Put away the clothes you don’t wear
C.Handle items gathering dust on the shelf
D.When you are fond of particular products

7 . There are countless articles online that will give you advice on how to deal with homesickness. Here are some of my favorite tips that have helped me.

    1

Learn to cook with your friends or find new places to eat. Eating with friends makes things so much better. It’s a way to bond and an excuse to get closer. You even get rewarded for it.

Call home—but not every minute of every day.

I saw so many online sources express it in this way, “Talk to your parents—but not too much. Call home—but not too often.”     2     However, it’s a problem when you’re talking to them so much that it’s stopping you from having real experiences in this new place.

Explore.

3     It took me a while to do this because I focused so much on my studies, but it’s really important. To me, being homesick was a sign that I needed to organize my time better. So I could take a break and go for a walk.

Find a way to deal with your emotions.

I got a guitar during my sophomore (大学二年级) year of university because that’s what I like doing when I’m by myself. I keep a journal because it makes me feel better and productive if I need time by myself but I don’t want to feel lonely.

An outlet(发泄方式) for your emotions can take any shape or form. Whatever it is, it’s important that you find a way to deal with your emotions. Don’t avoid them, but try to understand them.     4     If you focus too much on the negatives, you might forget to see the positives.

Talk to someone.

There is nothing wrong with finding someone to talk to about how you’re feeling.     5     Or it may mean talking to a counselor(顾问) if that’s what you think you need.

There is nothing wrong with being homesick. It’s normal. It’s part of the experience. We all feel things differently, but everything you learn while you are abroad will help you grow.

A.Make food from your home country.
B.Going abroad may cost you a lot of money.
C.It’s good to keep in touch with your family and friends.
D.It’s also a good way to distract(使分心) you in a healthy way.
E.After the first few weeks abroad, many students will feel a little worse.
F.On that line of thought, truly try to explore the city that you’re studying in.
G.It can be friends, family, mentors or professors who you feel can understand you.

8 . How to Choose Your Purpose-Filled Career

When you think about choosing a career, you often do it in the following two ways.

1    . If you like writing or doing crafts, you might consider these things. This is not a bad way to go, of course, but you can’t always make money doing things you like (like video games or drinking beer). And sometimes things you like are better as a hobby or side passion.

Think about a well-paid job that you can do and doesn’t sound so bad. Maybe a doctor, engineer or lawyer? Or maybe that’s out of your educational reach, so you choose office or retail worker.     2     but often they are not something you’re really passionate about. It’s kind of like just doing something because it’s there-- not very inspired.

However, there’s another way that is perhaps better:     3    . For example, taking care of children, because you really want to help children get a great start in life, or blossom into who they want to be or getting into government or social work to improve the conditions of the community you live in or becoming a scientist to help ease the environmental crisis or find a cure for a terrible disease.     4     and if you choose one of them for that purpose, you will serve in that work feeling a sense of purpose each day.

There are endless ways to do that. The point isn’t how you serve the world, but just serving the world in some way will help you feel filled with purpose.     5    .

A.These are all great choices
B.Think about what you like to do
C.You can identify your purpose and work out how to get there
D.Each of these is just one of many possibilities filled with purpose
E.Try to do something to serve a community or make the world better
F.The sooner you complete the training requirements, the sooner you will make a living
G.If you choose a purposeful and enjoyable job, you’re always further along than most people
