What do leaders look at to judge employees(员工) outside of the work product?

I developed this series because I often get questioned on how to create and have a successful career. There are little things that many people don’t think about.     1    

●What time you get to work

    2    . Even though your start time is 8 am, it does not mean you should walk in and log in at that time. This means you can stand out if you come in at 7:45 am, so you have time to get settled and begin working at 8 am.

This is for those who have to physically go into an office. If you are up out of your seat and hit the elevator at or before the end of your workday, then we have a problem. Part of success means putting in a full day and sometimes a little extra time when needed.

●What you say and how you say it

Ever heard of putting your foot in your mouth? A time or two may be forgivable.     4    , that’s not acceptable. Communicating negatively about your job on what the company is not only how you are observed by your boss, but also impact those you work with.

●How and if you take part in meetings

    5    , with nothing to offer, you could be seen as a weak link. Many organizations work in teams and co-operations. Your input is as valuable as anyone else’s.

●How you dress

I know — we are in a world of business casual. But, if you want to be recognized as a professional, I suggest supporting more on the side of business than casual.

East Buy, a subsidiary of Chinese private tutoring giant New Oriental, announced the     1    (remove) of Sun Dongxu from the positions of Executive Director and CEO on Saturday following a dispute involving popular live-streamer Dong Yuhui intensified this week,     2     has resulted in a significant drop in the company’s stock price.

New Oriental Chairman Yu Minhong will concurrently assume     3     position of CEO at East Buy. It represents a crucial step in New Oriental’s transformation into a live- streaming e-commerce company; however, during the past week, the dispute surrounding the company     4     (continue) to escalate (加剧).

8 . Establishing a strong professional image helps individuals maintain positive workplace relationships and present themselves appropriately. Being mindful of how you speak and behave around others is important.     1    

You can use certain verbal (言语的) and nonverbal techniques to interact with others.     2     It will help you convey your purpose and accurate information, which others may appreciate if you work on a project together. Depending on your comfort level, it may be helpful to sustain (保持) some eye contact and monitor the volume of your voice.

    3     Even if your personal accounts aren’t publicly viewable, it’s good practice to assume that others can still view and share anything you post on social media. As such, think about how your posts do or don’t match the professional image you’re cultivating at work.

Arrive on time when attending meetings, presentations or other events.     4     It often shows respect for your colleagues and their responsibilities. To increase your chances of starting an event on time, it may be helpful to prepare your materials beforehand.

Emotional intelligence involves the ability to perceive the moods of others.     5     To enhance your professional image, it may be helpful to learn the priorities and motivations of others. Employers and colleagues often appreciate an individual who can respond to emotions productively.

9 . At 6 feet, 7 inches, Will Allen was a natural at basketball. He received scholarship offers from more than a hundred colleges. He finally chose the University of Miami.

Going away to college meant leaving the family farm. He remembered how hard that life on the farm had been. Now that his life was full of possibilities, he swore he would never go back to farming.

After college, Allen began a pro-basketball career in Belgium, where, ironically (讽刺地), he rediscovered farming. He found the farmers there farmed the way his parents had back home, caring for the land without using chemicals and fertilizers.

Allen and his family moved back to the United States in 1977 after he retired from basketball. They settled in Milwaukee, where his wife’s family owned a farm. In 1993, Allen bought the last remaining farm in the city of Milwaukee, where he began his career as an urban farmer. Later he formed his own organization Growing Power, one of the world’s top urban agricultural organizations.

Allen also travelled across the United States, Africa, and Central Asia to help people grow food more efficiently in ways that fit in with their own culture. “Food is in short supply all over the world right now,” he says. “A lot of people are hungry. We need to grow food everywhere we can—in backyards and side yards, on rooftops, and even in buildings.”

He has spoken about urban agriculture around the world and is currently designing a vertical farm which is a new way to help feed more people in cities. “My main mission is to bring food into people’s lives and train people how to grow food. That continues to be important to me. ” said Allen. He said so, and he did so.

“Growing food is powerful,” Allen says. “It can change the world!”

10 . A perfumer is responsible for designing and composing perfumes and other fragrance compositions. To become a perfumer, it is important to follow a recognized training at a perfume school. The training to become a perfumer will generally take at least ten years. At the end of the training, a perfumer must be able to distinguish and name about three thousand different basic chemical odors(气味). As a perfumer, you also have to deal with a number of important rules of life that a perfumer must observe, such as not drinking alcohol, not eating spicy dishes and not smoking, because this will seriously affect the sense of smell of a perfumer.

Professional perfumers should in most cases be regarded as chemists. As described earlier, becoming a professional perfumer is not easy, because it is a long and heavy training. It is only the major international perfume brands that employ professional perfumers. This does not change the fact that anyone can try to design perfumes independently. There are quite a lot of people active in the field of making perfume, but these people cannot be classified as professional perfumers.

The development of new perfumes is important, because good perfumes can bring in a lot of money for manufacturers. Those well-known perfumes are usually expensive, because perfume manufacturers spend a lot of budget on development and marketing. The cost of perfume is usually not in the fragrance or perfume bottle. It is the costs in the development and the marketing that make good perfume expensive. In addition, perfume manufacturers spend a lot of time conducting market research and styling.

How exactly a perfumer and the perfume industry work is of course a big secret, but in general, a perfumer spends all day smelling and putting together different scents in order to be able to come up with a new perfume. Nowadays, computers are also used to further analyze certain odors. New fragrances are usually made in different variants until the best result is achieved and the perfume company is satisfied. Developing a new perfume scent generally takes several months after a lot of testing.
