【推荐2】Since I sometimes watch movies and write reviews, I decided to draw up some kind of a plan for writing reviews.

·    1     The title of the movie must be present in the title since this is a keyword. But the “Interstellar movie review” headline is really boring. There should be some intrigue (神秘气氛) in the title, at least a little. Let’s say “Interstellar or separation from daughter for 30 years”.

· Add interesting facts. In the first sentence, include a surprising fact or opinion about the film.     2     From the first lines, he / she needs to get an idea of the nature of the review and the quality (品质) of the movie in order to read on.

· Write for readers, not for yourself.     3     No need to indulge in narcissism (沉浸在自恋中)—“wow, I know a lot of smart words!” A review is not a way of self-expression, but is written to guide readers in the ocean of movie production.

· Add emotions.     4     A review written with emotion is much more interesting than boring and static (静态的) facts. So make notes for yourself and record what you like and what causes dissatisfaction when you watch a movie.

It is very interesting to write a review of a movie and it is not so difficult.     5     Just give it a try, you will definitely have a great review!

【推荐1】If I Had Magical Powers

Ever since I was a child, I have dreamed about having magical powers. If I had magical powers, I’d first hope I didn’t have any restrictions on them. I would prefer to use my fingers for magic as opposed to having wands. Just more convenient, I think.     1    

Transport

Traffic in Sydney is a nightmare which is why I take public transport to my job at the moment.     2     I like that I can read or write but I hate that I have to leave so early and get home so late. So yes, if I had magical powers, I’d just snap my fingers and wish hard for where I need to be! No time at all!

Cooking

    3     Although I must admit my new pressure cooker is awesome for that, yet I still have to chop and prepare things. So my magical powers would certainly come in handy to make a good healthy meal quickly.

Teach Some People a Lesson

    4     Not necessarily directed at me but to a lot of the kids I see in therapy. I really would love to teach bullies, abusers and other unkind souls a lesson. I don’t know how I’d do that really but maybe use my powers to have them experience what they put others through to get an actual idea of what it’s like.

Play with Time

I wouldn’t go backwards or forwards in time.     5     Rather, I would make time at work go by quickly and slow time down when I’m enjoying life. I guess though, given I would be using my powers to get rid of a lot of chores, I’m sure I’d have more time anyway for the things I love such as reading, writing and exercising.

A study investigated how smart phones influence interpersonal interactions (互动) by inviting over 300 people to share a meal with friends or family at a cafe.     2     Others turned their phones off. Afterwards, they filled out surveys on their experience.

Finally, the people who dined without their phones felt less distracted (分心的) and enjoyed the meal more.     3     In a separate analysis, the same team of researchers tracked 123 students randomly during their daily life to find out what they were doing, how they were feeling and whether they were using their phones and the same pattern appeared. People just didn’t enjoy socializing as much if they were on their phones.

The researchers write, “    4     Despite their ability to connect us to others across the globe, phones may damage the benefits we get from interacting with those across the table.”

However, another study led by Jean Twenge reported one hopeful finding. On an individual level, teens that spent more time interacting with friends online also spent more time with friends in person.     5     However, maybe, as the first study suggests, it’s best not to combine them during the same meal.

Cold-weather walking can provide an excellent heart workout. The combination of light movement and the body’s reaction to the cold increases heart health by improving circulation (血液循环) and lowering blood pressure. Over time, this can make your blood system healthier.

    4     Instead, walking in the fresh air can make your senses energetic and increase overall energy levels. The physical activity and stay in natural light work together to reduce feelings of tiredness, leaving you feeling more active and ready to deal with the day.

So, as the winter winds blow and snowflakes fall, consider wearing your warm clothes and taking a walk outside.     5     It is also helpful to mental wellbeing and overall energy.

【推荐3】The germ­killing standby might not be as effective as you thought. The hand sanitizer (洗手液) isn’t perfect. And, it may surprise you to know that it doesn’t provide long­lasting protection. That’s contrary to what many people believe: more than half think that hand sanitizers last longer than they really do.

This is more important than ever with the spread of the pandemic. On the recommendations from leading organizations like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which suggest that one way to prevent the virus is by using a hand sanitizer with at least 60 per cent alcohol, people are snatching up the products at a quick clip.

Here’s the thing: hand sanitizers don’t work to protect you for long and cleaning your hands more often is actually the best and first choice.

Washing your hands with soap and water can wash germs down the drain, while hand sanitizers kill whatever is on your hands at that moment. If you touch something else polluted, you need to use a sanitizer again. The same goes for soap and water. Neither keeps your hands clean longer than a couple of minutes. “As soon as you’re done washing or using a sanitizer, there is no remaining effect. You can pollute your hands again right away,” says Tierno. That happens as soon as you touch common (and often dirty) surfaces, like banisters, elevator buttons, or counters.

So, before eating or drinking or touching your face for any reason, you’ll need to either wash with soap and water or use a hand sanitizer. If your hands are dirty and you don’t have a hand sanitizer on you, just wait to touch your face. To wash properly, rub your hands with enough soap for 20 to 30 seconds, making sure to get in between fingers and the backs of your hands. Don’t forget to get under your nails by scraping your nails on the opposite hand.
