To make sure that the foods are delicious and safe, the Food and Drug Administration provides several tips to reduce the risk of the most common foodborne illnesses.

1    Bacteria can spread throughout the kitchen and get onto cutting boards, knives, and counter tops. To avoid the risk of foodborne illnesses, people should pay special attention to the handling and preparation of foods.

Keep foods apart. Bacteria can spread from one food product to another. This is especially true for raw meat and seafood.     2

Put foods in a refrigerator without delay. Public health officials advise consumers to refrigerate foods quickly.     3    Refrigerators should be set at 40 degrees F and the freezer at 0 degrees F, and the accuracy of the settings should be checked now and then.

Keep foods at a safe temperature during thawing(解冻). Let’s take turkey for example. Thawing the turkey completely before cooking is important and necessary to reduce the risk of foodborne illnesses.     4    For example, a 20-pound turkey needs two to three days to thaw completely when thawed in the refrigerator at a temperature of no more than 40 degrees F.

5    Foods are properly cooked when they are heated for a long enough time and at a high enough temperature to kill the harmful bacteria that cause foodborne illnesses.

A.Cook to proper temperatures.
B.So keep them away from ready-to-eat foods.
C.Wash hands and food contact surfaces often.
D.Washing hands before meals is good for health.
E.So allow the correct amount of time to thaw a whole turkey.
F.The turkey is done when the temperature reaches 180 degrees F.
G.That’s because cold temperatures stop most harmful bacteria growing.

Exergaming

Exergaming consists of doing exercise with video games. And there are lots to choose from. Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) is a fun way to work out. Simply stand on a platform and hit the coloured arrows with your feet as you follow the instructions on the screen.     2    As the tagline (标 语) says, “Taking dancing to a whole new level!” For a gentler form of exercise, try the “Wii Fit” series of games. You can do yoga, strength training and aerobics while standing on a balance board.     3

Anti-shoes

4    They’re meant to improve your posture, and strengthen your muscles. They can also increase circulation and reduce body fat. The shoes were invented by Swiss engineer Karl Müller in the early 1990s. On a visit to Korea, he noticed that walking barefoot over some soft fields alleviated (缓解) his back and knee problems. He also discovered that the Kenyan Masai tribespeople (who often walk barefoot) don’t suffer from back pain and are famous for their perfect posture. So, he decided that the answer was a shoe with a curved sole and no heel. The shoes were launched in 1996, and by 2000 approximately 20,000 pairs had been sold in Switzerland, Austria and Germany.     5    Some celebrities such as Jemima Khan, Jodie Kidd and Sadie Frost also own a pair.

A.Since then, they have become a big hit.
B.Concentrate on the screen and search for the instructions.
C.You score points by hitting the right arrow at the right time.
D.And every year there are lots of new ideas for getting into shape.
E.Walking on Anti-shoes is similar to walking barefoot on sand or grass.
F.Personalize your workout, or exercise with a friend, competing in games!
G.Anti-shoes are designed to exercise parts of your body while you’re walking.

【推荐2】Before you make friends, you have to decide who you want to be your friends. Most people like to have friends who like to do the same kinds of things they do.

The quickest way to make a friend is to smile. When you smile, people think you are friendly and easy to talk to. It may not be easy at first to smile, but remember most people will stay away from a scared or angry looking face.

One easy way to start a conversation with someone is to say something nice about him. Think about how great you feel when someone says something nice to you. Doesn’t it make you want to keep talking to that person?

Ask your new friends questions about themselves. Who’s their favorite singer, where do they live, what do they do after school are all good questions to start a conversation. Make sure you have something to add to the conversation, too. When someone asks you a question, do have an answer for them. There’s nothing that will stop a conversation quicker than a shrug(耸肩)for an answer.

Kids who show an interest in other kids and who are kind and friendly make good friends. Remember, everyone wants to be around people who like to do similar things and people who are nice to them.

·Get enough sleep

2    Your ability to remember can drop by as much as 40 percent if you haven't had adequate sleep. Aim to get adequate sleep as many nights as possible, and try to keep the same sleep schedule every night, even on weekends.

·Know when you work best

3    There is plenty of research indicating benefits for both nighttime studying and early morning studying, so you shouldn't feel pressured to maintain an uncomfortable schedule. As long as you are getting enough sleep and keeping up with your commitments, your schedule is up to you.

·Try the pomodoro method

The Pomodoro Technique is a focusing method that relies on short bursts of intense work and plenty of breaks. To try the technique, set a timer for 25 minutes and work on a single task. When the timer rings, take a five-minute break, then set another 25-minute timer and get back to work. After four 25-minute intervals, take a longer break. You may find that the Pomodoro Method' helps you get more done in a shorter period of time without feeling burnt out.    4

·    5

There is a massive body of research that links exercise with good grades and improved learning and cognitive skills—especially if you exercise first and study second.
