1 . Nature is amazing! Take a close look at the world of insects(昆虫) and you will discover many unbelievable things. Considering butterflies, for example, they have beautiful, colorful wings, and perfect flying skills. On summer days, we see them flying slowly over flower gardens and wild fields.

In fact, do you know that butterflies have four stages(阶段) of lives? They begin their lives as one thing, change into another, and then another. Finally, they change into beautiful flying insects. It's true. And it's one of the wonders of nature.

First of all, there is an egg, it's usually small and colorful. A female butterfly lays an egg first. When you look at this small egg, it's hard to believe that in a few days, it will become something completely different. In time, it changes into a new life. No longer the small egg becomes a walking insect. This insect is called a caterpillar. It now has legs, eyes, a mouth and a large body. A new life has begun. The caterpillar eats, and eats, and eats. It can walk. It can see. But it is still not a butterfly.

Soon, after growing bigger, the caterpillar makes a cover for itself. It wraps(包裹) itself in this nice protective blanket and goes to sleep. This stage of a butterfly’s life is known as the "pupa" stage.

What happens next is truly amazing! After a short while, the blanket breaks and a wet, weak butterfly appears. It now has six legs, a mouth, eyes and wings. Soon the wings become strong enough, and the colorful butterfly spreads its wings and flies away. After a few weeks, this adult butterfly lays her eggs, and the cycle begins all over again.

This is just one example of the wonders of nature. Look around the natural world, and you will learn many truly amazing things.

2 . You must have heard and watched the famous TV show Sisters Who Brave Winds and Waves. Unlike other youth idol talent shows, this TV show invited thirty female artists who were born before 1990 to live together and compete with each other as well. These years, they are not as popular as those youth idols. However, since it was shown on the screen, it has won hundreds of millions of fans, flowers and compliments (赞美). But there are also negative (负面的) attention, and those brave sisters are ready to face whatever it comes ahead the roads.

There are hundreds of TV shows in China nowadays, and do you know why it is much more popular than the others? As for me, I do like some of those brave sisters. . Ning Jing was born in 1972, and many artists or actresses in her age normally have been out of public attention. But she didn’t think so, and she worked so hard to make her dream come true. She has been one of the Final Seven in the end. Another sister Zhang Yuqi, a thirty-three-year-old actress is also among the Final Seven. In my heart, she is always one of the best sisters. This beautiful direct and warmhearted sister is always ready and brave enough to face the challenges and negative attention.

On talking about the great performances about this TV show, there are too many to talk about, such as Da Wan Kuan Mian, Gentlewoman, Running to yow with all I have … Just like the lyrics (歌词)in the song Da Wan Kan Mian, Don't say no to yourself easily, you have your world, no one can define you, happiness is the true meaning.” I think they are the voice of those sisters' hearts.

For people who are over thirty or even forty years old, sometimes there will be no more dreams. However, Sisters Who Brave Winds and Waves tells us whenever it is, we can always be brave and ride winds and waves to be the best of ourselves.

3 . Just like any relationship, best friendships depend on trust, promise, respect and interests. When any of these elements(要素) is missing, the friendship will be hard to go on. If the trust is totally broken, you may not be able to forgive him/her.

Sometimes a friendship ends because either you or your friend gets tired of putting the heart into it. This can happen when one of you finds a new friend or even a new hobby that takes up much time. Or, perhaps you find the relationship is always going in an unhealthy way and you want some distance(距离). Other times, you simply change and want to leave each other. Sure, it seems sad at the time, but it's completely normal.

Not all friendships are meant to last forever. So, what should you do if something like this happens to you? Read on for some friendly advice.

Whatever the reason you're breaking up with your best friend is, always remember that he/she was once super important to you. Take the time to sit down and tell him/her what's going on and why. Don't send him/her an unpleasant e-mail. Don't start ignoring him/her though you're busy with your new hobby. In fact, maybe he/she has known there's a problem and would be willing to have a heart-to-heart chat. If you're not sure about wanting an end forever, you could suggest you two take a break from each other. If, after a while, you realize why you became the best friends in the beginning, you can try getting back to your former behaviors.

4 .

Lots of people love chocolate. Do you know how to make it? What does a chocolate factory look like? My class had a field trip to a chocolate factory in Toronto.

We visited an old building in ten groups. In the beginning, we put on some special clothes to make sure that we couldn’t dirty the workplace. After preparation, we went to the second floor and walked into the chocolate-making place. The floor was filled with different kinds of machines. Each machine has a different job. There are only two people working on the floor, because machines do most of the work.

In the next room, we learned about the history of chocolate making. There was a picture of the factory 100 years ago. They had more than 1,000 people working there. The factory is very different now. How greatly the technology is changing our life!

Later, we saw how machines made chocolate. We got a cocoa bean (可可豆), some powdered (粉末的) chocolate and a final chocolate. I opened the cocoa bean and tasted it. It doesn’t taste sweet at all, and it’s like dark chocolate. The best cocoa beans come from South America and Africa. Farmers dry them in the sun. Next, workers cook the beans at a high temperature. Machines took the shells (果壳) off the beans and made the beans into chocolate liquor which looks like water. Then, they put chocolate liquor and sugar together to make dark chocolate. If adding milk, they made milk chocolate. The machine made them smooth like silk.

5 . When you like your teachers, it's easier to pay attention to their explanations and improve your marks. When you consider your teachers as friends, you'll certainly have more respect for them. When your teachers consider you to be a friend, they'll feel more open in class and that will probably influence the classroom in a positive way. So a good relationship between students and teachers makes the classroom a very pleasant place. Now here are some tips to develop a friendly relationship with your teachers.

If you have any questions about that subject, ask them. Show them that you're interested in their subjects. That will make them notice you. But never ask questions that you already know the answers to. If your teachers realize that you are not asking real questions, they might think that you're not actually trying to learn, but only trying to make an impression (印象).

You may also talk about non-school subjects with your teachers. When you see one of your teachers in the hall, greet him/her and ask if he/she is going to that concert or if he/she has seen that movie. That way you'll show that you consider him/her as a friend. Some teachers don't like to have friendly relationships with students, but most of them are happy to chat with their students. After a while, they may start to talk with you about non-school topics in the classroom.

The rest is totally up to you. It is very easy to develop a friendly relationship with any of your teachers. 6 . Have you seen All is Well which is the most popular TV series in 2019? It is not easy to be one of the top ten trending hashtages (热搜) on Weibo for many days. All is Well has done just that.

The show tells the story of a Chinese family torn by internal conflict (内部冲突). The main character, Su Mingyu, hardly communicates with her father and her two brothers.

Nowadays, there is often a lack of understanding between parents and children. Parents often complain about their children’s unreasonable behavior, while children usually think their parents are too old-fashionable. Then, when a child has a problem, he usually goes out, leaving his parents in the dark.

__________________________________. First, the two generations, having grown up at different times, have different likes and dislikes for the things around them and so have a little in common to talk about. Second, parents and children, due to the misunderstanding between them, may even feel it uncomfortable to sit and face with each other talking. Finally, with the pace of modern life becoming faster and faster, both parents and children are too busy to spare enough time to exchange ideas, even if they find it necessary to communicate. As a result, the gap between them is growing wider and wider.

However, there is another type of parents who spoil(溺爱) their children a lot. They have a common sense that their children are so precious to them so they always try their best to give their children a happy and meaningful life. Therefore, an increasing number of parents spoil their children and do everything for them, even control their life. For example, many children have to obey their parents’ idea about which school they should go into after they graduate; some children must go to art classes like dancing, piano and painting even though they have no interest in them; what’s more, some strict parents even involve children’s freedom about what friends they should make. On the one hand, these parents care and protect their children, however, on the other hand they may do harm to their children.

As far as I am concerned, it is necessary that parents should give their children more space and freedom so that their children may become more independent.

9 . As we are getting older and older, our ability to think and remember starts to become worse. But not everyone is like this. Some people are super-agers, who are over the age of 80, but have the brain of much younger people.

Scientists know that parts of the brain become smaller in size with age. But the change of the super-agers’ goes much more slowly. In her recent study, Emily Rogalski, a neuroscientist (神经科学家), showed that super-agers have young brains. The area of the brain for attention and memory was shown to be thicker in super-agers. “When we look at a super-ager’s brain, we see that it looks more like a 50-year-old brain than an 80-year-old one”.

▲ Most of them like travelling and playing sports. They always enjoy reading. And they usually have healthy relationships and spend time with friends. “Growing old,” she adds, “does not have to be depressing and sad. Perhaps if we expect a little better from ourselves, we’ll understand that not all getting old makes us sad”.

Rogalski said jokingly that super-agers do not grow on trees — meaning they are special and few. She says she wants to find out why a super-ager’s mind is working so well and not getting old as quickly as most.
