Seven other planets also go around the sun.    2    of them has an environment like     3     of the earth, so scientists do not think they will find life on them. The sun and its planets are     4     the solar system, and our solar system is a small part of a     5    larger group of stars and planets, called the Galaxy or the Milky Way. There are     6    of stars in the Galaxy, and our sun is only one of them.

Scientists have also     7    many other galaxies in the universe. They are very far and their light has to travel for many years to     8     us. So how     9     is the universe? It is     10    to imagine.

3 . Is there life on Mars (火星) ? We don’t know. We are sure that people on the earth can not live on Mars. Earth people can’t live without oxygen(氧气). There is little oxygen on Mars.

Living on Mars would be like living on a very high mountain. There would be little air. It may be 50℃ at noon and -100℃ at night.

Many people think there may be plants on Mars. We know that Mars has carbon (二氧化碳). This is kind of material (物质) found in all plants and animals on the earth. Mars looks red. In some places, it seems gray. Sometimes the gray color turns gray-green then brown, and then gray again. The gray-green color may be a kind of plant life changing color with seasons.

Will man go to Mars one day? If they do, they will have to take their own oxygen, food , clothing and shelter (住所) with them .

1. Which of the following you are sure doesn’t live on Mars?
A.Life.B.Man.C.Plant.D.Carbon.
2. What do you think is the main reason why people can’t live on Mars?

C.Because it is too cold at night.D.Living on Mars is like living on a high mountain.
3. What is always found in plants and animals on the earth?
A.Oxygen.B.Earth.C.Carbon.D.Mars.
4. Which of the following shows that there may be life on Mars?
A.Its gray color.B.Its gray-green color.
C.Its brown color.D.The changing of its colors.
5. Which is true?
A.Some kinds of plants may live on Mars.
B.A little Oxygen is on Mars and it is not enough for earth people to live there.
C.We can live on Mars with the help of carbon.
D.There is always only one season on Mars.
4 .

In 1997, a spaceship called Cassini was sent to explore Saturn (土星) and its moons. Now Cassini’s mission (使命) has come to an end. Scientists made it fall and burn up in 2017. But before that happened, the spaceship had made many trips between Saturn and its rings, sending photos and other information back to the Earth.
Cassini was a project carried out by NASA, the European Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency. It took Cassini about seven years to reach Saturn.
Scientists have learned many exciting things from Cassini. In 2005, Cassini sent a space probe (探测器) to Saturn’s largest moon, Titan, so scientists could get a closer look at the moon’s surface. One of the most important discoveries Cassini made was that there is warm liquid water (液态水) under the ice that covers one of Saturn’s smaller moons, Enceladus. Scientists believe conditions on Enceladus could be similar to the conditions that led to the development of life on Earth.
Cassini’s mission was supposed to be ended in 2008, but because it was still in good shape, scientists increased its life to 2017. Cassini performed the last task of its mission on September 15, 2017.
When Cassini ran out of its fuel (燃料) and entered Saturn’s atmosphere (大气层), it burned up. Scientists said it was necessary for Cassini to be totally destroyed (毁坏) so there was no chance that microbes (微生物) from the Earth could be harmful to any possible life on Saturn.
1. What made scientists think that there might be life on Enceladus?
A.Animals’ waste was found.
B.They heard strange sounds.
C.Some ice was seen to cover it.
D.There is warm liquid water on it.
2. What might happen if Cassini wasn’t totally destroyed?
A.It might destroy Saturn’s surface.
B.It will fall onto the Earth.
C.The microbes from the Earth might be bad for Saturn’s possible life.
D.It will continue to send back information.
3. Which of the following things about Cassini is NOT mentioned?
A.Its findings.B.Its lasting time.
C.Its burning.D.Its later use.
4. What can be inferred from the passage?
A.Cassini was a very successful and useful spaceship.
B.Cassini has stayed in Saturn for ten years.
C.The project of exploring Saturn was carried out by America alone.
D.Enceladus is the biggest moon of Saturn.
5. What is the passage mainly about?
A.The process (过程) of sending Cassini to Saturn.
B.The moons and rings of Saturn.
C.The end of Cassini’s mission.
D.The life on Saturn.

5 . The solar system has eight planets. The planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. The Planets are all round, like balls. The planets all go around the sun.
Mercury is the closest to the sun. It is very hot on Mercury. The planets that are far away from the sun are very cold. Venus is between Mercury and the Earth. It is sometimes called Earth’s “sister planet” because they have almost the same size and shape. The Earth is the planet where we live. From space, the Earth looks blue because it has so much water. Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system. Saturn is known for having rings around it. Uranus was the first planet discovered with a telescope. We can see Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn with our eyes, however, to see Uranus, we need a telescope. Neptune is the 8th planet in our solar system. The planet is farthest from the sun.
Probes (探测仪) go into space and take pictures of the planets. We learn a lot from these pictures. If you could send a probe to any planet, where would you send it?
1. What goes around the sun?
A.Moon.B.Stars.C.Spaceships.D.Planets.

The planet Mars is the closest and most similar planet to Earth. It is very    1    to scientists. For example, Mars has seasons with    2    weather, but other planets have the same temperatures all year round. Was there    3    on Mars?

To find out, scientists need    4    if Mars ever had water. In 2004. two robot explores (探测器), or 'rovers', called Spirit and Opportunity were sent to look for    5    of water. These rovers can drive over rocks    6    all kind of rough ground. They can also use cameras and send photos    7     to Earth. First, the two rovers found chemicals and patterns (图文) in the rocks that were probably made by water. Then, they moved to another area and    8    other rocks which may have been created by water. Now scientists think there was probably water on the planet long ago. Today       9    are still not sure if there was life on Mars. They    10    need more information to decide. The discoveries of the two rovers answered some old questions, but they also brought up many new ones.

7 . As space science develops, man has learned more and more about space. Space is not only a    1     but also dangerous. While working in space, spacemen are facing danger as well as s    2    .

Scientists have found out that the in radiation(辐射)is the greatest danger to spacemen. When spacemen are working in space, they are in d    3     of the radiation from the sun and other stars, which is bad for their health. The h    4     of the radiation won’t be found until their children even grandchildren are born. Some s    5     medicine may work a little, but no really effective medicine has been found so far.

Space r    6     is also thought to be a great danger to spacemen. It’s reported that there were 9,000 man-made things flying in space. About 30% of these are satellites, 10% are s    7    , and the rest are space rubbish. An explosion(爆炸)in space in 1999 made a cloud of 300,000 fragments (碎片), each at least 4mm in size. A small piece of these even knocked a spaceship window and c    8     some damage(损 坏).

Scientists are watching and reporting any possible danger all the time. They are working to deal with space rubbish. A    9     space is really dangerous, it interests many people on the Earth. In the near future, it may become possible for people to spend a few days in a space hotel. We may even choose to leave the earth and live in space in a few years. So we should do something to help i    10     the space environment.

9 . When we talked about the space,we know the universe means the earth, the sun, the moon, the stars and so on in space. Many of the stars are so far away that we can’t see them.

Through our geography lessons, we know the earth (1)goes around the sun, and the moon goes around the earth.

We have day and night because the earth keeps moving all the time. Just because the moon is closer to the earth than the sun, it looks much bigger than the sun.(2)The sun is bright enough to give out very strong light. The moon can’t give any light at all, but it looks quite bright, too. Why? In fact, the light from the moon comes from the sun.(3)But in fact the stars are much bigger and brighter than the moon.

(4)在宇宙中仍然有许多其他的行星。But of all these planets, only on the earth there are living things. People on the earth have studied the space all the time. They’ve sent many spaceships into the space many times. On November 3 and 14, 2011, Chinese scientists let Shenzhou Ⅷ successfully dock with(对接) the Tiangong Ⅰ twice. This is one of the greatest events in the history of China’s space.
