To better work for the community, our class organized a voluntary activity on last Saturday. They carried out a thorough clean-up of the city square. We set out early in the morning. As soon as we got there, we divided into two groups. One group picked up all the rubbishes on the ground, such as waste paper, cigarette ends and plastic bags throwing everywhere. The other group remove all illegal advertisements from the poles and trees, which was a tough job. We felt tired and happy when the activity was over. How a meaningful day we had! It’s truly to say that we make a living by what we get but we make an life by what we give.

Being caught in a flood is incredible dangerous. Like many other natural disaster, floods can occur with little and no warning. Flash floods are known to rip trees out the ground, destroy buildings and cause bridges to collapse. However, the flood itself isn’t an only issue to deal with it. The aftermath(后果)can be deadly, so it may not be possible to deliver essential supplies such as water and food to the disaster areas. So what should we do to save us? Avoid passing through bridges that crosses rapidly-moving water, as flash floods can cause bridges to collapse. If trap within a flooding building, move to the highest floor. Only move to the roof if necessary.

Yesterday morning, I participated on a school activity who theme focused on “Green Travel Starts From Me”. About 100 students and teachers gather at the school gate at 8:00 and we set out ten minute later to cycle around the city. It took us over two hours finish the 20-kilometer ride. Tiring as we were, we felt proud of us.
It was the first time that I had been covered such a long distance by bike. I believe an activity is of great value as it reminds us that everyone can make a difference to the protect of Earth by traveling in a green way.

Dewey is my pet dog. While water is his favorites, he is also a big fan of snow. One winter day, I take him to a huge snowy field where he could run and play. Before Dewey started to play, I thought would be nice to take a photo of a snowy field. Dewey was such excited to run around in the snow that he couldn’t help ran right through the photo, but ended up helping me create something fantastic. I decided the photo couldn’t be keeping to me alone because of it was just too great. I posted it online to see that anyone else would find it just as wonderfully—and of course, they absolutely did.

During the summer break, I became a community volunteer to protecting the environment for one week. On the first day, I got up very earlier to kick off my seven day volunteer trip. As soon as I put on my volunteer clothes, I got straightly to work. While I was walking to the entrance of a residential area, I saw a man throw a cup on the ground. I immediately went to talk to her and said, ”Hi, sir. I’m volunteer. Can you throw it into the bin?" To my surprise, he just looked at me, turn around and left, leaving me feeling very embarrassed.
Later on, I had to guide people on how to classify their garbage and put it on the different categories of dustbins. There were some residents which did not have such a strong awareness of garbage classification. Besides, I also handed out leaflets on environmental protection to passer-by. That week’s experience was something I would consider it a highlight in my life, as I have helped to serve society as a whole.

As I was watering the plants in the front of my house, my neighbor was passing by for her walk. She appreciated the plants, so I told him how I had increased the number of plants, and that I would be able to offer her few.
Then I mix some potting soil and sand and put them in a container, and after put the open cut into rooting powder, I put it in the soil with a little water. Usually it take 4-6 weeks for the roots to form and then they are ready about repotting or gifting. My connect with dirt and understanding of plants are also growing in the process. I am gratefully for having these plants and the soil as my teachers and for being able to share the fruits with other.

The tornado warning was sounded just as we were about to leave to school. I looked outside. We have been taught to identify a tornado. I could not see a whirlwind but sky was dark. My family went into our shelter, which emergency food and water had been kept.
We were only there for an hour. My brother and I were scaring. We remembered the last time it was a tornado a few mile away. Even the grass was torn up from the ground. Mother cheered me up by talking about our next holiday.
Once we were told it was safe, and we went up. We were gratefully that the tornado missed us.
