1 . Note-taking is a skill(技能) that can help you do well in all your schoolwork. It can make you confident when you are studying. But unluckily, most students don't know how to take notes. Here is some advice:
*Write down key facts. If your teacher writes notes on the blackboard, that's great. You can copy(记下) them or write down the most important facts of all in class. Different teachers do things differently. For example, some teachers may focus on (关注) lots of dates and facts in class, but they only write the important ones on the blackboard. Other teachers may not write anything down, but they may say something important again and again.
*Ask. Don't be afraid to ask your teacher to repeat(重复) what you miss. If your teacher speaks too fast and you can’t follow what he/she is saying, you can ask him/her after class.
*Compare. Comparing your notes with your classmates' can be good for your learning. It can also help you and your classmates correct some mistakes.
*Organise(组织). Note-taking also needs organization. Keep notes for each subject in one notebook, so that you can find everything easily when a test comes.
*Good note-taking takes time. If you decide to recopy(重新抄写) your notes every evening, you'll surely have less time to watch TV. But you'll save time in the coming test.

2 . One day a teacher entered the classroom and gave the students a surprise test. He gave out the paper and asked his students to turn the page and begin. To everyone's surprise, there were no questions, just a black dot in the center of the page.
The teacher saw the expression on everyone’s face and said, "I want you to write what you see there. The confused students got started on the hard task. At the end of the class, the teacher took all the answer papers and started reading each one of them. All of them described the black dot and tried to explain where it was on the paper.
After all had been read, the classroom was quiet. The teacher began to explain, "I am not going to grade you according to this. I just wanted to give you something to think about. No one wrote about the white part of the paper. Everyone focused on the black dot (点). The same happens in our lives. We have a white paper to enjoy, but we always focus on the dark spots. Our life is a gift filled with love and care. We always have reasons to celebrate—friends that help us or jobs that support our lives."
"However, we keep focusing only on the dark spots, the health problems, the lack of money or the bad relationship with a family member. The dark spots are really annoying, but they are very small. Take your eyes away from the black spots in your life. Enjoy each moment that life gives you. Be happy and live a positive life!"

3 . On January 27, in order to win the new pneumonia Resistance war(抗击新型肺炎战), the Ministry of Education issued(公布) a notice on putting off the start time of school in spring 2020. It was said that school should not start before March 12. The exact start time of school will depend on situations and further notices.
However, many parents are very worried that putting off the start of school may affect(影响) children's studies. If they have such a long winter vacation, children will not learn any knowledge, read books or study at all. They may forget what they have learned before. Staying at home for a long time will make them keep eating, sleeping and playing, which seriously affect their physical and mental health.
In short, the close of school influences learning and develops bad habits, so how should we avoid these problems? Local education departments have also issued a notice, that is, to organize online teaching and create a network platform(平台) where necessary courses will be shown every day, and online teaching will be given by excellent teachers of the subject, and students can learn at home through computer or mobile network.
It should be said that such a method is very good. It can not only keep students indoors and not worry about the infection (感染) of the disease, but also make them study at home, improve their learning ability, and truly achieve "no suspension of classes". Both the platform itself and the recorded lesson resources are more useful, and are welcomed by parents and teachers.
Of course, except for learning at home, it is also necessary to teach children about health knowledge, especially how to keep away from touching virus and other knowledge popularization; at the same time, it is also necessary for children to do some physical exercises or some games which is good for physical health at home.

4 . In your spare time, do you help your parents with chores (杂活) around the house? Can you cook for your family?
In order to stress (强调) the importance of hard-working spirit education (劳动教育) among students of different ages, the Communist Party of China Central Committee (中共中央) recently released (发布) a guideline (指导纲要).
The guideline calls for students to respect labor work. Students should learn basic life skills and form good working habits through such education.
The government has been trying to stress the importance of hard-working spirit education. But this has been overlooked (忽视) in recent years. Many teenagers do not value the importance of working hard and aren't interested in doing so.
According to a study of nearly 3,000 students that was done by Ningbo Evening News in March, only 22% of students help with everyday chores around the house.
Schools and families play an important role in teaching students about the value of working hard, the guideline says.
Primary and middle schools should provide students with hard-working spirit classes every week, according to the guideline. Schools can also hold activities to give students real-world work experience. For example, schools can teach children how to plant trees on Tree-Planting Day.
As children's first teachers, parents should also encourage children to learn how to do chores at home. Students should master one or two life skills every year. These skills can include cooking, washing their own clothes and tidying their rooms.

8 . One morning,Emma discovered that her classroom had changed. She found that the desks were no longer in rows, but pushed together to make eight bigger desks. She was so excited about it for the first two days that she couldn't listen to the teachers carefully. But soon she and her classmates got used to this new classroom arrangement(安排). “Now our class is quieter,” said Emma. “What's more,we can come up with our own ideas and learn more through discussion. It's a better way to study.”
David liked it,too. "Group members first discuss," he said,"and then show to the whole class. It encourages us greatly. "This was part of a reform(改革)at David's school. The school made this reform because they wanted to offer students easier ways to study and more chances to discuss. “Our school hopes to improve students' abilities to study by themselves and work in groups.” said Linda,an English teacher.
However, the reform has demanded(要求)more from teachers. Now they have only 15minutes to give a lesson that would have been taught in 40 minutes before. It is difficult to teach in such a short time. Also ask yourself: How much education do I have? For most jobs, the higher your education, the higher your earning power.
In the United States, high school graduates make about $18,600 a year. If you do not finish high school, you make only $10,800 a year. You can make $7,800 more each year by staying in high school!
If you stay in school, then you can make more money. A person with a high school degree makes about $18,600 a year. If that person goes to college and gets a bachelor’s degree(学士学位), he can make $42,000. With a master’s degree (硕士学位), he can make about $53,000. If the person gets a PhD(博士学位), he can make almost $79,000 or more a year.
We can learn a very important thing from this information. If you want to work and make more money, get a good education.

I’d like to share my suggestions about studying with you. “Studying” is not the same thing as “doing homework”! Studying may include doing homework, but it also includes a lot more, as you will see. So if you say that you have no homework, and therefore you can’t or you don’t have to study, you’re mistaken!
I am going to give you some suggestions on how to study efficiently
Not only that, but they also worked equally well for me in literature and math.
Although everyone’s learning style may be different, and some of my suggestions may not work for you, I still ask you to try them. A lot of successful students have used them.
Please send me suggestions about studying that work for you. I will try to include them into the further version of this guide.
Here are some of my suggestions:
A. Manage your time.
B. Take notes in class and rewrite them at home.
C. Study hard and study in a quiet place.
D. Read texts actively and slowly. Do it before and after class.
E. Finish your homework by yourself.
F. Do not only study for exams.
Yours,
Emma
