If you run a lot, maybe three or four times a week, you will definite stay in shape. When you run, it's very important drink lots of waters. You should drink a lot of the water before you run and then maybe you should drink a little when you run, if you ran for more than 30 minutes. Naturally, stretch is very important. I have a neighbor we call "Happy". I have never seen her angry at anything and never heard her say a harsh (苛刻) word to anyone or about anyone. They always have a positive attitude     1     other people and the society.

Happy and her husband Ben. 70, have a huge garden on which they spent many happy hours together working. Most of the neighbors watched interestingly as Ben doubled the size of     2     (they) garden. As the cost of food climbed faster, we all wished we also had such a large garden.

One day last month was the time     3     Happy and Ben asked most of the neighbors to go for an “all-day food feast". The place where we     4     (invite) to go was their house. They said to us, "Please bring gloves and arrive very early in the morning, will you?" We didn't know the reason why they asked us to do that. Neither did we know what     5     (take) place the next morning.

By 9:00 am, there were nine of us in the garden picking     6     (variety) kinds of vegetables such as tomatoes, beans, okra, and squash. By 10:00 am, there was lots of laughter. We didn't need to pretend     7     (be)like others and we were ourselves. We shared a lot of stories. By five o'clock. everyone was a little drunk from the wine and beer. After dinner, we played games. We were     8     (extreme) happy. As we were leaving, Happy and Ben handed each of us a shopping bag that was filled with the bounty (收成) of the day. What a delightful gift!

Well, in     9     (summarize)the point wasn't so much about the food. The true gift was a day of friends enjoying one another's company, wasn't     10    ? None of it would have happened if it had been for Happy and Ben's garden.

7 . My husband and I just spent a week in Paris. Our aim was to see if we could live, in some way, like real Parisians(巴黎人). So the first thing we did was rent a rather expensive six-floor apartment which was the size of a cupboard. It was so small that we had to leave our suitcases in the hallway (走廊).

The place wasn't entirely authentic (正宗的), though. Unlike a normal Parisian apartment, the plumbing (水管)worked. There was a nice kitchen and a comfortable bed. Our building even had a small lift with a female voice that said. "Open the door," in perfect French. That is the only French phrase I mastered, and it's a shame that I don't have much use for it.

Parisians are different from you and me. They never look lazy or untidy. As someone noted in this paper a couple of weeks ago, they eat great food and never gain weight. The food is so delicious that you don't need much of it to make you happy. French strawberries don't taste like cardboard (硬纸板). Instead, they explode in your mouth like little flavor bombs.

That is not the only reason why the French eat less than we do. On our first morning in Paris, I went around the corner to the food market to pick up some groceries (食品). I bought a handful of perfectly ripe small strawberries and a little sweet melon. My husband and I agreed they were the best fruit we had ever eaten. But they cost $18.

In France, quality of life is much more important than efficiency (效率). You can tell this by cafés life. French cafés are always crowded. Not all customers are tourists. When do these people work? The French take their 35-hour workweek seriously — so seriously that some labor unions recently struck a deal with a group of companies limiting the number of hours that independent contractors can be on call (随叫随到).

1. How was the apartment the author rented in Paris?
A.It was quite small.
B.The rent of it was low.
C.It had a comfortable living room.
D.The plumbing worked like a normal Parisian apartment.
2. What did the couple do on their first morning in Paris?
A.They visited some of their neighbors.B.They tidied the apartment up.
C.They toured around Paris.D.They did some shopping.
3. Why did the author mention French cafés?
A.To show that not all customers there are tourists
B.To show that the French take their holiday seriously
C.To show that French people care much about quality life.
D.To show that French people enjoy getting together there.
4. What is the labor unions' deal with the companies mainly about?
A.Making sure that their workers work hard and efficiently.
B.Making sure that the companies have good and qualified workers.
C.Making sure that their workers work within a proper amount of time.
D.Making sure that the companies can make their work plans independently.

Archaeologists have uncovered a collection of 3,000-year-old handicrafts at Sanxingdui, Sichuan province. The researchers found more than 500 objects at the site in 2019, most of    1    were carved out of gold, bronze, jade and ivory.

Experts are unsure who made the handicrafts, but they guess that the creators belonged to the Shu state, a    2    (high) skilled civilization conquered by the neighboring state of Qin in 316 B.C. Because the people of Shu left behind few    3    (write) records, historians’ knowledge of their culture is limited.

A major highlight of the find is a 0.6-pound fragment (碎片) of a gold mask that may have been used    4    (wear) during religious ceremonies. About 84 percent pure gold, the piece likely weighed close to one pound in total,     5    (make) it one of the heaviest gold masks from that time period discovered in China to date.

Other    6    (discovery) made at the site included two kinds of silk. Silk has played    7    important role in China’s long history.
