文章大意:本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了诗歌的美。

3 . One of the most commonly asked questions in the English language is “How are you?” and whether a person is feeling happy or sad, excited or lonely, fantastic or heartbroken they will just about always answer “Fine”. Why is this? Is it because humans are not good at expressing their emotions? Maybe it is just that emotions are often too personal or too complex to be shared in a casual conversation. However, for centuries, people have often expressed their emotions on paper, in the form of poetry.

The beauty of poetry is that the emotions the poet is trying to convey are often disguised in images so that the poet can maintain a feeling of privacy. For example, in Li Bai’s poem, “Seeing Meng Haoran Off at Yellow Crane Tower”, the poet describes the sail of his friend’s boat rules disappearing into the distance while he watches the river rolling by. This could seem merely like the description of a beautiful scene, but by reading into the poem, you can sense the deep sadness and loneliness that his friend’s leaving has caused him.

Poetry is also written to celebrate positive human emotions like joy, love and happiness. Throughout history, men and women have written poems to their loved ones to express their deep feelings. Poems about nature, which express the poet’s appreciation of the beauty in the world around him or her, are also common. Sadly, many poems have also been written to express anger at the destruction of nature and reactions to horrific events like war and death.

The interesting thing about poetry is that anyone reading a poem can have their own view or feelings about it and heated discussions can often arise over what the poet was originally trying to say or express. Poetry can be interpreted in many different ways. Often, a poem that one person loves another hates. Equally, a poem that one person understands and relates to, may turn another person off.

1. What is the purpose of questions in Para. 1?
A.To introduce a topic.
B.To teach people how to start a conversation.
C.To have empathy with reader.
D.To review the commonly asked questions.
2. What does the underlined word “disguised” in the second paragraph mean?
A.seenB.describedC.hiddenD.disclosed
3. According to the author, which of the following is not false?
A.Humans wish they could be better at expressing their feelings.
B.Many human emotions are very hard to capture in casual conversations.
C.Human emotions are too intense and wide-ranging to be expressed by most people.
D.Poetry is the most important way to express people’s inner feelings.
4. According to the author, what makes poetry particularly interesting?
A.The difference in how different readers interpret and appreciate a poem.
B.The imagery that a poet can use to express emotions can be misunderstood by the reader.
C.The ability of the reader to clearly understand the meaning of a poem.
D.Poets’ unique description and fantastic language about poems.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了中国非物质文化遗产手工艺:面塑。文章主要介绍了其起源以及形式。

8 . Chinese people love food made of flour. In the hands of skilled artisans (手艺人), flour is made into lovely models of people or animals to be enjoyed and played with, which brings a unique kind of pleasure. This art form is called dough figurine (面塑). Among the various art styles of dough figurines, Beijing’s Dough Figurine Lang is a unique folk art, which is filled with the rich history and customs of the capital city. In 2008, it was included in the list of national intangible (非物质的) cultural heritage.

It was created by Lang Shao’an. Most of the dough figurines are animals and characters from legends, historical stories, and local operas. The finished product is either put at the end of a thin stick or on a table for display. Some are mostly for children to eat or play with, with simple forms and vivid decorations, while some are fine pieces of artwork for display only. For this reason, during the making process they are often mixed with additives (添加剂) to better preserve the finished products.

Lang Jiaziyu, born in 1995, is the third-generation inheritor (继承人) of Dough Figurine Lang. When he was 15, he created Beijing Olympic Mascot (吉祥物) shaped dough figurines which were highly praised. He looks a bit more fashionable than other folk artisans. In his skilled hands, pop culture icons (偶像) are popular with young people.

Like most of the other intangible cultural heritage handicrafts in China, Dough Figurine Lang does not get as much attention from the public. Few young people are willing to take the time to master a skill that does not make money, which has led to a decline in the number of those who are devoted to the handicraft. Good handicrafts need the devotion of artisans from one generation to another.

1. What is special about Dough Figurine Lang?
A.It reflects Beijing’s culture.
B.It is created by many famous artists.
C.It shows people’s lifestyles and beliefs.
D.It is popular with both tourists and the locals.
2. Why do artisans add additives to dough figurines?
A.To make dough figurines taste good
B.To keep colors brighter and lasting longer
C.To help shape dough into various forms.
D.To better preserve the finished products
3. What is the third paragraph mainly about?
A.Suggestions for other folk artisans.
B.Different art styles of dough figurines.
C.Lang Jiaziyu’s accomplishments as an artisan
D.The popularity of modern dough figurines
4. What is the main purpose of the passage?
A.To call on people to master a skill.
B.To appeal to people to value this folk art.
C.To teach people ways to appreciate the handicraft.
D.To persuade people to protect national cultural heritage.

You may have achieved a goal but you choose a wrong path. So, always remember that the path you choose in your life chooses your destination and then you shall not have an option to change it.

It is good to fail though it may take you to terrible feelings of life but in return, you will learn many things that life offers.
