1 . From my father, I have learned a lot. And I'm very thankful to him. I remember when I was a child, my father always got up very early, quietly put on his clothes and went off to work. To arrive in time to open his tiny store at 8:30, he needed to leave our apartment at 6:30. After all (毕竟), he had to take a bus and then the subway. The last journey was a long walk through a neighborhood, much of which was full of the smell of rubbish. I learned it is very important to work. No excuse.

When I was 12, I would, on some Saturdays, go to my father's store to help out. After helping set up the outside clothing display, for the rest of the day, I'd watch to make sure no one stole anything. When I noticed someone looking unusual or strange, I would look the person in the eye, smile and say, "May I help you?" Usually that worked, but sometimes, someone would run off with something. The first time, I ran after the thief but my father shouted, "Martin, stop! There is no need to do that. "It's true that safety is more important than money.

After 10 years of hard work, he saved up enough money to buy his first car, a cheap one-he wouldn't buy one until he could afford to pay for it without borrowing money. I learned: buy only what you can afford. Buying necessary food and clothing won't make us go into debt (债务). The unnecessary things won't give us happiness, which comes from achievement(成就) only.

The Chinese team impressed the Chinese and the world with that match, inside of which was the strong spirit of the team.

In 2013, Lang Ping, worked as the chief coach again after 10 years. In the next 3 years, China step by step got back to the world women's volleyball stage. In the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, the Chinese team gained back its Olympic gold medal again after 12 years. "Never give up, especially in adversity (逆境). I think that's what the spirit of Chinese women's volleyball means," Lang said in Rio 2016.

5 . Could a robot dog help people with Alzheimer's disease (阿兹海默症) and other forms of dementia (痴呆)?

American businessman Tom Stevens thinks so. He recently presented a test version of a yellow Labrador puppy to people in a nursing home in California.

Stevens believes the robot dog, which moves its head from side to side and wags (摇) its tail, can help people with dementia. It is also easier to care for than a real dog. The robot has 16 motors to control its movements and has sensors (传感器) to answer people's voice and touching. Stevens said he came up with the idea for the robot after his mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2011. "Of the many bad days that we had early on, by far the worst was when I had to take away her dog, "Stevens said.

The robot puppy, which is called Jenny, cannot walk and is carried on a small bed. During a visit last month, at the Sage Mountain nursing home in Thousand Oaks, people suffering from dementia and other memory related illnesses put smiles on their faces while petting (爱抚) the puppy.

Jenny has visited the nursing home a number of times. "The dog is very clever, the tail wagging, responding (有反应) to them calling her name," said Caroline Gibson, a spokeswoman for the nursing home. She added that it was "really amazing" to see the nursing home's residents feel comfortable.
