2 . On July 23, 2020, China successfully set off its first fully home-grown Mars mission, the Tianwen-1 on to a month- long space voyage toward the red Planet, marking a new era in a space exploration long controlled by NASA, USA.

Tianwen-1 consists of an orbiter (轨道器) and a lander. It’s the first attempt by any country to achieve orbiting, landing and roving all in one go. “If successful, it would mean a major technical breakthrough, ” scientists of the China National Space Agency (CNSA) wrote in a recent paper.

The orbiter, lander and rover probe (巡视器) combination lifted off from the Wenchang Satellite Launch Center on Hainan Island Thursday morning at 12: 41 a.m. American space and Mars enthusiast Elon Musk praised the mission on the website Thursday morning, calling the “launch” impressive.

In the Nature astronomy paper, CNSA researchers gave five scientific aims of the Tianwen-1 mission Map the geological structure of Mars, investigate surface soil characteristics, analyze surface material composition and study the Martian climate and environment at the surface, as well as the physical fields and internal structure of Mars. If all goes according to plan, the Tianwen-1 probe will reach Mars orbit in February next year. The orbiter will settle into a polar orbit that will allow it to observe the planets surface from a height between 165 miles and 7, 500 miles.

The Tianwen-1 mission is China’s second attempt at the Red Planet 2011 orbiter mission called Yinghuo-1 failed China is also the first country to land a probe on the far side of the moon. Last January, CNSA successfully sent a robotic lunar rover called Yutu-2 to the moon as part of the Change-4 mission. The rover is still roaming on the dark side of the moon studying the lunar composition.

3 . During my first term of University, I did not know what I wanted to major in. I was very interested in biology, so I chose a very _________ biology science course that was far beyond my abilities. 8 . Entering a sport into the Olympics can be a long process.     1    . First, a sport must have its own international association. Next, it must be practiced by men in at least 75 countries on four continents, or practiced by women in at least 40 countries on three continents.

Which ones are out?

Some sports that were part of the Olympics in the past have been removed from the Games.     2    . Some of them are not well known and you may never have heard of them. Do you know what “Basque pelota” is, for example? Or “roque”? These sports were judged to have become less popular and had to make way for new sports which are more popular.

Which ones are in?

Some sports have been added, such as tac kwon do. which was first included in the Olympics in 2000. In 2016, rugby and golf. which had previously been played at the Olympics and then dropped. were included again. Similarly. baseball. which was left out of the 2012 Olympics, was approved for inclusion again at the 2020 Olympics. This happens because they are now very popular and are played all around the world.     3    .

Squash (壁球) is still waiting to get into the Olympics.     5    , but the IOC has not approved it because they prefer sports that appeal to the youth and do not require new facilities to be built in order to keep the cost down. Other sports that some people would like to see included are wushu. competitive dancing and bowling.

9 . We know that bully (欺凌) happens a lot and that it can make people feel miserable. And school violence happens all the time.

Bully is where a person or a group exercise control over another against their will, often leaving the victim feeling powerless and alone. Bullying can take many forms. Children, young people and adults can instigate bullying and be bullied in schools. Bullying is harmful to all involved, not just the person who is bullied, but to those who do the bullying and those who stand by. It can lead to self-doubt, lack of confidence, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, self-harm and sometimes even suicide. Children might bully because they may not have been taught that it is wrong to bully.     2     They are copying older brothers and sisters, friends or people they observe. They don’t know of more appropriate ways of mixing with their school friends.

How does bullying affect people?

New research has found that more than half of young people in the UK have been bullied. Of those who have been bullied, 58 % said it made them want to miss school, 44 % said it made them avoid social events, and 37 % said it had affected their school work.     3     Racism is when people are treated badly because of their skin colour, culture or nationality. Around 32 % of students said that they had heard something racist at school.

What can I do to help?

    4     If someone you know is being bullied it is important to tell a teacher. You could also talk to your parents or an adult whom you trust. If the person doing the bullying is some-one you know, you could talk to them and explain what they’ re doing is wrong. It’s important to support the person being bullied.     5
