Anti-shoes Anti-shoes are designed to exercise parts of your body while you’re walking. They’re meant to improve your figure, and strengthen your leg and back muscles. The shoes were invented by Swiss engineer Karl Maller. He discovered that the Kenyan Masai tribespeople (who often walk barefoot) don’t suffer from back pain and are famous for their perfect figure. So, he decided that the answer was a shoe with a curved sole (弯曲的鞋底). Walking on this type of shoe is similar to the rocking move of a foot walking on soft sand or grass. |

5 . It was the final part of the 2016 World Triathlon Series in Mexico. With jus700 meters to go, Alistair Brownlee was in third place and his younger brother Jonny, was in the lead. Alistair pushed himself towards the finish line in the burning heat, but as he came round the corner, he saw his brother about to fall onto the track Alistair had to choose -brotherly love, or a chance to win the race?
For Alistair, the choice was clear. His brother was in trouble. He had to help. Alistair ran towards Jonny, caught him and started pulling him towards the finish line. Alistair then pushed his brother over the line. The move put Jonny in second place and Alistair himself in third. It was an unexpected end to the race, but Alistair did not want to discuss it with the media. He just wanted to see his younger brother who had been rushed to the medical area.
The Brownlee brothers have been doing triathlons since they were children “Obviously, when your older brother is doing it, you think it’s a cool thing to do,’says Jonny. Alistair says that they encourage each other as much as they can where they train. Despite argument s over “stupid things” now and then, Alistair agrees than having a brother is an advantage. “Throughout my entire life, I’ve had my brother trying to beat me at everything I do. It has been a fantastic driving force.”
Watched by millions, the ending to the race has varied opinions: should the brothers have been disqualified or highly praised for their actions? 7 . A healthy person is a wealthy person. Wealth is here valued in terms of the person's physical well-being so that he or she is able to go about and carry out day-to-day tasks easily.
Doctors think not enough exercise leads to many people having one form or another of sleeplessness. Moreover, when we sleep better, we can protect ourselves from diseases.
Another example of how exercise helps us to feel better is that it makes us lose weight. It burns off the energy. In our push-button lifestyle, we have become quite sedentary (久坐不动). “Why walk, when we can take the car” seems to be the way of life for all of us.
Lastly, students should exercise at least three times a week for at least twenty minutes each time, as exercise is a good stress killer.
In a word, regular exercise is a useful way by which we can not only feel younger, but look younger.
A.Exercise ensures good health. |
B.This has been made clear by spacemen. |
C.He or she will look good and feel good. |
D.Students are busy with heavy homework. |
E.Nowadays, even shopping is done online. |
F.It is no wonder that our young are gaining weight. |
G.Exercise causes the brain to produce different chemicals. |
8 . It’s easy to talk yourself out of exercising. Even when you have the best intentions to work out, excuses are so easy to find – “I’m too tired”, “I’m busy” or “The weather is bad”. Don’t worry!
※ Take baby steps.
You’ll never try to run 10 miles just in a single day, right? When you do too much too soon, you’ll end up injured and disappointed. Take it easy as you get started. Maybe you only run a quarter of a mile during your first week.
※
Your workout should be just as much a habit as brushing your teeth or eating breakfast. When it’s part of your routine (日常), you won’t even have to think about it. In a few months, fitness can be regular in your day.
※ Keep it real.
You’re not going to shake off 30 pounds in a week.
※Celebrate.
A.Do it for yourself. |
B.Try to get used to it. |
C.It takes weeks to see real changes. |
D.Keep a fitness diary to record your progress. |
E.Aim for something that is realistic as a first step. |
F.The following ways can keep your fitness schedule on track. |
G.When it gets easy for you, you’ll surely make it more challenging. |
Think about some of the games you played as a young child, such as rope-jumping and hide-and-seek. Such games are entertaining and fun. But perhaps more importantly, they translate life into exciting dramas that teach children some of the basic rules they will be expected to follow the rest of their lives, such as taking turns and cooperating.
Many children’s games have a practical side. Children around the world play games that prepare them for work they will do as grown-ups. For instance, some Saudi Arabian children play a game called bones, which sharpens the hand-eye coordination needed in hunting.
Many sports encourage national or local pride. The most famous games of all, the Olympic Games, bring athletes from around the world together to take part in friendly competition. People who watch the event wave flags, knowing that a gold medal is a win for an entire country, not just the athlete who earned it. For countries experiencing natural disasters or war, an Olympic win can mean so much.
Sports are also an event that unites people. Soccer is the most popular sport in the world. People on all continents play it — some for fun and some for a living. Nicolette Iribarne, a Californian soccer player, has discovered a way to spread hope through soccer. He created a foundation to provide poor children with not only soccer balls but also a promising future.
Next time you play your favorite game or sport, think about why you enjoy it, what skills are needed, and whether these skills will help you in other aspects of your life.
