1 . Why do we cook food? Well, we didn’t have to cook food before people discovered fire, just like wild animals do. The strange thing is, even after fire was discovered, that no one realized that they could use it to cook! They built fire mainly to scare away (吓跑) wild animals.
Some scientists think that one day, someone must have dropped a bit of meat or fish in the fire. After a while they noticed how good it smelled, tasted it and realised the heat had made it much more enjoyable to eat.
