文章大意:这是一篇说明文。主要说的是对于投身于运动的人,最好的运动时间是因人而异的,它由三个因素而定。

3 . Any time of the day you can commit to exercising is a good time for getting active. However, the best time for exercise is different for each person.     1

Determine when you have the most energy. Do you struggle to get out of the bed in the morning or do you wake up energized and ready to go? Are you a night owl and never get to bed before midnight? Once you establish what your sleep tendencies are, you will have a better idea of when your body is most ready to exercise.     2     You are more likely to hit the snooze button instead of getting a workout in.

Consider your daily schedule. When are you the busiest?     3     Try to fit in exercise before or at least around these events. Some people would prefer to get it out of the way first thing, while others prefer to put it off until the end of the day when they are all caught up.

Determine your exercise goals. If you are trying to develop a routine, you may want to exercise in the morning.     4     If you are trying to improve your performance, evening exercise may be best. You may experience less tiredness, quicker reaction times, and more strength and flexibility in the evening. If you are trying to lose weight, you may want to exercise in the morning before you have eaten when your body is more likely to use fat instead of carbohydrates (碳水化合物) for energy.

5     This way, you’ll see how you feel and find the time that works best with your schedule. Keep an exercise log to help you evaluate each time.

A.Fewer people exercise in the morning.
B.Do you perform better in the morning or at night?
C.People who exercise in the morning are more consistent.
D.When do you tend to schedule your most important tasks?
E.Consider your lifestyle and exercise goals to find the right time.
F.If you’re not a morning person, do not schedule an early morning workout.
G.Anyway, you’d better experiment with both morning and evening workouts.

文章大意:本文是新闻报道。文章主要介绍了Starman和其座驾特斯拉敞篷车进一步接近火星火星。

4 . Starman, the dummy (仿真人) riding a cherry-red Tesla Roadster (特斯拉敞篷车) through space, has made his closest approach ever to Mars. The electric roadster and its passenger were attached to the top of a Falcon Heavy rocket during the SpaceX rocket’s first test launch on 6 February 2018.

Two years later, the Falcon Heavy rocket and the vehicle at its tip are making their second trip around the Sun. Mr. McDowell, a Harvard astrophysicist, found that Starman passed 7.4 million kilometers from Mars at 06:25 GMT 7 October, 2020.

The closest recent approach between the Earth and Mars was 56 million kilometers in 2003, though the planets are often hundreds of millions of miles apart depending on where they are in their orbits. No one can see the Falcon Heavy rocket at its current distance, but orbits over periods of a few years are fairly straightforward to predict, and Mr. McDowell used data about how the rocket was moving when it left the Earth’s gravity behind to locate its recent movements exactly.

Last time Starman circled the Sun, McDowell said, it crossed Mars’ orbit while the Red Planet was quite far away. But this time the crossing lined up with a fairly close approach, though still not close enough to feel a strong tug from Mars.

At this point in time, if you were able to go look at the Roadster, it would probably look pretty different. The strong solar radiation environment between the planets would probably have destroyed all the exposed organic materials.

Without the Earth’s atmospheric and magnetic (磁场的) protection, even the plastics and carbon-fibre materials would start to break up. Over the course of decades or centuries, the car will end up with its aluminium (铝) frame and hard glass parts—that’s assuming that none of them get destroyed in impacts with passing space rocks.

1. What can we know from the first two paragraphs?
A.Starman is now circling around the Earth in its orbit.
B.Starman has set out on its second trip around the Sun.
C.Starman has traveled 7.4 million kilometers after launch.
D.Starman still has a long way to go before getting to Mars.
2. How did McDowell manage to locate Starman?
A.By seeking professional help from SpaceX.B.By predicting its future orbit around the Earth.
C.By keeping Starman under visual observation.D.By analyzing data related to the rocket’s movements.
3. What does the underlined word “tug” most probably mean in paragraph 4?
A.Pull.B.Drive.C.Resistance.D.Pressure.
4. What could be the best title for the passage?
A.Starman’s circling around the EarthB.The dialogue between the Earth and Mars
C.Starman’s further approach to the MarsD.SpaceX’s vision in its next space mission

5 . In the day, the view of Wuzhen is dominated by white walls and brown wooden doors, but this scene changes in the night when the different lights in the water town create various stunning colors against the black sky.

Of all the shops in Wuzhen, the workshop selling traditional handmade lanterns stands out the most during the night. The man behind these amazing creations is Gu Yeguang, a 53-year-old craftsman who was born into a family of lantern makers in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province.

Although Gu has spent nearly his entire life making lanterns, he has never grown weary of the profession, saying that getting to teach the craft to young people is what motivates him these days.

To craft the frame of the lantern, Gu has to chop bamboo carefully into long and thin sticks before using a candle to scorch (烧焦) the areas that need to be handled. After bending the sticks, Gu binds the ends together and wraps the completed frame with paper. All these have to be done with great skills and rich experience.

The lantern workshop is without doubt one of the most popular attractions in Wuzhen. According to Gu, the workshop would receive more than 100 people during its opening hours from 9 am to 5 pm during the peak summer season. To craft a simple round lantern costs 30 yuan ($4.54). The more unique ones cost 50 yuan each.

After a large group of people departs the workshop following their short class on lantern making, Gu returns to his seat and continues work on a complex dragon-shaped creation. But before he could even pick up his tools, a small girl and her mother enter the space.

“Mummy, mummy, I want a lantern!” the girl exclaims excitedly. Gu raises his head and gets back on his feet. “Sure, let’s get started then,” he says. “Let us begin with this bamboo stick.” And with those few words he lights up the workshop, not with his lanterns but the child’s cherubic (天使般的) smile.

1. Why is Gu still committed to making lanterns?
A.He masters better skills than others.
B.He regards making lanterns as a family business.
C.He has to earn enough money to support his family.
D.He wants to pass down the craft to the young generation.
2. Which can be used to describe the process of making lanterns in paragraph 4?
A.Distinctive.B.Romantic.C.Significant.D.Demanding.
3. What does the writer most probably want to imply in the last paragraph?
A.The educational methods of Gu Yeguang.
B.The busy but peaceful life of Gu Yeguang.
C.The promising future of handmade lanterns.
D.The commercial value of handmade lanterns.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文,主要讲述了无聊的精神状态可能会引发意向不到的创造力。

6 . Being bored is no fun, especially at work. However, a recent study from the Research School of Management at the Australian National University suggests that boredom may have an unexpected benefit.

In a study, 52 participants (参与者) were given a boring task of separating red from green beans for 30 minutes, while another group of 49 participants was asked to create art projects with paper, beans, and glue. Then both groups were instructed to spend five minutes on a creative task. Surprisingly, the group that had performed the boring task produced a higher quantity and quality of creative ideas than the group that had taken part in the art project.

“Boredom is not necessarily terrible based on my research,” says the study’s lead author, Guihyun Park. “People want to get out of a boring state, so they tend to find novelty, which can lead to unique thinking and bring out creativity.” Moreover, it’s also worth noting that studies have found that not everyone experiences the same level of creative benefits from boredom. Researchers have discovered in one experiment that participants who are open to new experiences and driven to achieve specific goals are more likely to see positive effects from being bored.

Finally, Park admits that not every type of job allows a state of boredom, and it really can be detrimental to some important work. “I would say at safety jobs where you need to stay alert (警惕的) all the time, like police or safety guards, boredom will keep your mind wandering, which is really bad,” says Park. “Also, those jobs require less creativity but much attention to details instead; boredom won’t help much there.”

But for designers and anyone in a creative field, boredom is not something to fear, but to embrace (欣然接受). J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series, has shared how she would spend hours sitting on trains, letting her mind wander and coming up with new ideas for her stories. This boredom allowed her to tap into her creativity and imagination, leading to one of the most beloved book series ever.

1. What did the recent study find about boredom?
A.It inspires creative ideas.B.It raises people’s patience.
C.It improves work efficiency.D.It leads to negative feelings.
2. Which kind of people are more likely to benefit from boredom?
A.People who are afraid of change.
B.People who tend to focus on details.
C.People who are willing to try new things.
D.People who enjoy competing with others.
3. What does the underlined word “detrimental” in paragraph 4 probably mean?
A.Attractive.B.Harmful.C.Necessary.D.Challenging.
4. Why does the author mention J.K. Rowling in the last paragraph?
A.To show the power of embracing boredom.
B.To encourage people to stay bored in their daily life.
C.To prove the importance of creativity and imagination.
D.To explain the creation process of the Harry Potter series.

文章大意:这是一篇说明文。文章介绍了保护和传承中国传统节日的三个理由。
10 . 请根据上下文内容,将文中划线部分译成汉语或者英语,并将答案转写到答题卡上。

Traditional festivals are a significant part of Chinese culture, which we must protect and maintain.     1     这样做有三个理由.

First of all, traditional festivals teach us a lot about our nation’s history. For example,     2     the Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated in honour of Qu Yuan, a great poet. By celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival with rice dumplings and dragon boat races, the story of Qu Yuan is passed down from generation to generation.

3     Traditional festivals also enable us to learn more about fine Chinese values. Many festivals, such as the Mid-Autumn Festival, have a caring, family-centred message at their heart. The full moon on the festival stands for family togetherness and     4     family members will come back home even if they live very far away.

Last but not least, traditional festivals are a source of national pride and help shape our national identity. That’s why we celebrate the Hanshi Festival and the Laba Festival with unique customs, and these shared experiences bring us together as a people.     5     传统节日告诉我们我们是谁and fill us with pride of being Chinese.
