文章大意:本文是一篇说明文,主要说的是轻食变得越来越受欢迎。

1 . Do you like to eat out and treat yourself to delicious food? Many people are used to choosing hearty (丰盛的), fat-filled dishes and high-sugar desserts, which are not easily cooked at home, though they may be unhealthy.

According to Economic Daily, low-fat and high-fiber meals have become popular in China’s restaurants and online delivery platforms. The recent rise of light meals gives diners a smarter choice. Restaurants serving light meals have increased from just 600 in 2017 to more than 3, 500 in 2018. According to a report by Meituan, a major online food platform, the number of light meals ordered online also rose 75 percent from last year.

Having a light meal, however, doesn’t mean eating only vegetables. Different from the meat-free lifestyle, a light meal avoids oily, salty and spicy food. Instead, it contains things like boiled meat, whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Healthy nutrients (营养成分) are the theme of the light meal. These dishes are useful for keeping healthy and controlling your weight. That’s probably why so many people, especially millennials (千禧一代), are into them. Diners see it as “a great way to avoid getting fat”.

Zou Jing, a college teacher in Wuhan, shared a picture of her lunch: a mixture of beef, eggs, corn, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. She told China Daily, “After eating several light meals, I felt my appetite (胃口) has shrunk. I now prefer light meals.”

These changes in eating behavior are connected to deeper changes in how people think about food. People are more interested in diet quality, not numbers, which is important for both weight control and health. So the next time you have a party with friends, try a light meal. It will satisfy not only your stomachs, but maybe your hearts.

1. From Paragraph 2, we can know that ________.
A.all the restaurants are serving light meals because they are popular
B.few people eat out at restaurants because of the unhealthy food
C.the number of restaurants serving light meals is getting larger
D.according to Meituan, fewer people prefer ordering light meals
2. What is the meaning of the underlined word “shrunk” in Paragraph 4?
A.Got bigger.B.Got better.C.Got worse.D.Got smaller.
3. The writer used the example of Zou Jing just to tell us that ________.
A.light meals can help us avoid getting fat
B.light meals are almost similar to non-meat food
C.she prefers only vegetables instead of oily, salty and spicy food
D.millennials hate light meals because they enjoying eating meat
4. What’s the main idea of the passage?
A.Avoiding meat is a healthy lifestyle.
B.Light meals are becoming more and more popular.
C.People like going into restaurants for dinners.
D.Eating out is unhealthy.

2 . Jamie Oliver, a lively British guy, loves to share his secrets. In his first television show, The Naked Chef, Oliver taught everyone to make simple but delicious food. In Jamies Kitchen, he taught young people how to prepare meals. His next show, Jamies School Dinners, is about changing the food that students eat.

Oliver saw that some schools in Britain were serving junk food—food that is easy to eat but unhealthy. Although it can be delicious, junk food is not very good for children. It is sometimes bad for their health because it doesn’t give them the energy they need at school. They sometimes can’t think well or feel down, and they sometimes put on weight.

Some of the junk foods that Oliver wants to change are canned spaghetti, chicken nuggets (鸡块),French fries, soda, and muffins (松饼). He encourages schools to serve fresh and healthy meats, vegetables, and fruits. He helps the school cooks to make healthy dinners without junk food.

People liked Oliver's idea of bringing high quality food to schools. Thousands enjoyed his television shows. But Oliver wanted them to do more than just watch. At his Feed Me Better website, he collected over 270,000 signatures from people. Oliver sent these signatures to British Prime Minister(首相). Then the Prime Minister promised to help change the school kitchens, teach school cooks to make healthy food, and spend more on school dinners. Thanks to Jamie Oliver, my children will be able to enjoy more healthy meals at school.

文章大意:本文主要介绍了今年最健康的三个国家。

3 . So much of a healthy life is about forming good habits. For people in many European countries, healthy food, regular exercise and taking time to relax are part of their daily routines. Here are the top three healthiest countries in Bloomingberg’s list this year.

Spain
As the world’s healthiest nation in the 2019 Healthiest Country Index, people in Spain have a “Mediterranean diet”. It includes seafood, nuts and vegetables.
However, the healthiest thing about Spain is not the food, but rather the relaxed way that people enjoy it. While eating out, they may stay to talk, keep getting together, and perhaps share a glass of wine. If the conversation gets good, they’ll stay for hours until late night.
Italy
Like Spain, Italy’s typical (典型的) eating diet also plays a huge role in the country’s health.
Besides eating, Italians typically walk or cycle to their schools and offices. Usually, they spend less time sitting around than people in other countries.
Iceland
Iceland is one of the healthiest countries in the world. For example, they live very long lives.
When it comes to eating, Icelanders keep things simple: lots of fresh dishes made up of seafood and dairy (奶制品) from grassfed cows. This diet reduces the risks of some serious diseases.
Maybe the most important is that hot springs (温泉) provide Icelanders with a relaxing place. Besides, they travel too much.
1. Spanish people stay outside for hours until late night because they ________.
A.talk happilyB.eat a lotC.have a glass of wineD.travel too much
2. Which of the following is NOT the reason for Icelanders’ long lives?
A.Hot springs.B.They eat healthily.C.They keep getting together.D.They travel too much.
3. What do people in Spain, Italy and Iceland do in common?
A.Travel around.B.Drink wines with their friends.
C.Spend time sitting around.D.Eat healthy food and take time to relax.

文章大意:本文主要介绍了人们少吃燕麦的原因。
4 .

Breakfast is very important to everybody. What do you have for breakfast every morning? For most people in the United States, cereal (燕麦) is very popular. They choose it as breakfast for a long time. But this is changing. A study shows that sales (销售量) of cold and hot cereals in the US were $10 million in 2016. That was $2 million less than the number in 2009.

People are thinking more carefully about what they eat in the morning. And cereal is known for being less nutritious (有营养的) and too high in calories (卡路里). “More and more people are trying to get food that matches the definition (定义) of real food,” says Kendall Powell, manager of the General Mills food company. So, what is real food? Real food is that when you see it, you can see clearly what it is made of. Many people choose from a lot of healthy breakfast food instead of cereal these days. They go for fresh fruit, eggs, yogurt and sandwiches.

Some people think that eating cereal at a table takes up too much time. They want to take their breakfast with them out of the door. As a study by www.Food-Management.com shows, snacking is the new way of eating breakfast in US schools. And don’t forget the best thing about eating a sandwich: You don’t need to wash a dish!

1. From Paragraph 1, we know that ________.
A.sales of cereal was $12 million in 2009B.cereal is more popular than before
C.people don’t want to have cold cerealD.people have cereal for three meals a day

文章大意:本文介绍了美国农业部准备了一份食物指南,帮助人们了解哪种食物最健康。食物指南描述了六种主要食物。研究结果表明,过多的动物脂肪对我们的健康有害。

5 . Nowadays, more and more people realize the importance of having a healthy eating habit. As we know, the daily food we eat affects us in different ways. Sometimes, people are not clear about what kind of food is healthy or not. The USDA has prepared a food guide (指南) to help people learn about which kind of food is the healthiest to eat. The food guide describes six main food groups: meat (like fish and chicken), dairy (like milk and cheese), grains (like bread and rice), fruit, and vegetables. The last group is fats and sweets. Though this guide was from the US government, it is also very useful for people in other countries.

The result of the study shows that too much animal fat does harm to our health. For example, in the USA, people eat a lot of meat and only a small amount of grains, fruit and vegetables. As a result, they have a high rate (率) of cancer (癌症) and heart disease. Japanese people eat large amounts of grains and very little meat. The Japanese live longer than anyone else in the world. However, when Japanese people move to the US, the rate of heart disease and cancer rises as their eating habit changes. And as hamburgers and other high-fat foods become popular in Japan, the rate of heart disease and cancer is rising there as well. People are also eating more meat and dairy food in other countries, in which the disease rate is rising along with the change of the way people eat. Doctors suggest people eat more grains, fruit and vegetables and less meat and dairy food. It is important for children to eat healthily as well as their parents. When parents have poor eating habits, their children usually do, too. After all, children eat the same way as their parents. When parents eat healthy food, the children will learn to enjoy it, too. Then they will develop good eating habits easily.

文章大意:本文主要介绍了垃圾食品对青少年的不良影响,以及对垃圾食品说“不”的最好方法。

6 . It’s hard to turn down junk food. However, eating too much junk food can harm your body, particularly if you’re between the ages of 10 and 19.

“Junk food shapes adolescent (青春期的) brains in ways that impair (损害) their ability to think, learn and remember. It can also make it harder to control impulsive (冲动的) behaviors,” said Amy Reichelt, a brain and nutrition specialist at Western University, Canada.

Reichelt and two other researchers reviewed more than 100 studies about how poor food choices can affect adolescent brains. They found adolescents are more sensitive than any other age group to foods with a lot of fat and sugar, as their brains are not yet fully formed.

Adolescent brains are still developing the ability to control themselves. The prefrontal cortex (前额皮质) is the part of the brain that helps us do this. However, this region doesn’t fully develop until we are in our early 20s.

Meanwhile, teen brains get more excited from rewards. The parts of the brain that make us feel good when we eat junk food are fully developed by the teen years. In fact, these regions are even more sensitive (敏感的) when we are young. Therefore, the teen brain has two strikes (攻击) against it when it comes to turning down junk food.

Reichelt and her team conducted their own study using mice, whose brains develop much like our own. They discovered that “teenage” mice that had a high-fat diet performed worse on memory tests than those eating a normal diet.

So, what’s the best way to say no to junk food? Researchers suggest exercise. When we exercise, the brain’s reward system becomes less sensitive to food cues (暗示). Exercise also helps our brains grow and become better able to make smart decisions.

1. The second paragraph is written to ________.
A.describe what junk food isB.explain why teenagers like junk food
C.explain how junk food can harm teen brainsD.show how food helps human brains develop
2. According to the study, why is it hard for young people to turn down junk food?
A.Because they are more sensitive to the joy junk food offers.
B.Because their brains are fully developed.
C.Because they need energy for their development.
D.Because they have a low level of excitement in their brains.
3. According to the researchers, how can exercise help us refuse junk food?
A.It makes the brain’s reward system more sensitive.B.It reduces the brain’s strong wish for junk food.
C.It helps humans make quick decisions.D.It slows down the brains’ activity.
4. What’s the best title of this passage?
A.Say no to junk foodB.Less developed adolescent brains
C.Two strikes against junk foodD.Control impulsive behaviors

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了元气森林饮料公司为广告中无糖的宣传道歉,因为里面是有甜味剂的,作者也建议我们少喝甜饮料。

8 . Have you ever bought Genki Forest (元气森林) sparkling water because it’s advertised as “sugar-free”?

The company said that the drinks are “sucrose-free” (零蔗糖), but this is not the same as “sugar-free”. Now the company then apologized for its misleading advertisement.

In fact, there are many kinds of sugar. Sucrose is just one of them. Other kinds of sugar, such as fructose (果糖) and sugar alcohol (糖醇), are still in Genki Forest drinks. These types of sugar are used as sweeteners (甜味剂). They offer little energy, but a small amount of them can make drinks taste sweet. That’s why diet drinks like Genki Forest are popular among people who want to lose weight.

However, studies find that sweetners might make people eat more. When you eat sweet-tasting things, it sends your brain a “sweet signal”. Then your brain tells your body to prepare itself to take in energy. But since the diet soft drink has little energy, the brain will not receive what is expecting. At this time, you will feel hungry and start getting energy by eating more food.

According to China Daily, drinking too many diet drinks might lead to obesity (肥胖). It’s time for you to think twice about the diet drink trend.

1. Why did Genki Forest apologize?
A.For making too many advertisements.B.For not having an sugar in its drinks.
C.For misspelling words on its packaging.D.For advertising its products incorrectly.
2. What can we infer about Genki Forest from paragraph3?
A.There are sweeteners in its drinks.B.Its drinks have high levels of sucrose.
C.Its drink taste sweeter than other drinks.D.People can lose weight with its drinks.
3. What do studies show about sweeteners?
A.They cause the brain to stop receiving signals.B.They provide enough energy for people.
C.They stop the body from getting energy.D.They probably make people feel hungrier.
4. According to the last paragraph, drinking diet drinks can be ________.
A.funB.harmfulC.refreshingD.fashionable

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了儿童喝全脂牛奶和半脱脂牛奶对儿童健康的影响。

9 . Children should drink full-fat milk until the age of at least six, research suggests—as they are likely to grow up slimmer.

In recent years, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) has recommended that toddlers (学步的儿童) switch to semi-skimmed milk from the age of two, as part of efforts to prevent obesity (肥胖).

But research on more than 2,700 children found those given full-fat versions ended up with a significantly low body mass index (体重指数) than those given semi-skimmed varieties. Those taking part in the Canadian study were also found to have higher levels of vitamin D, which protects the bones and immune system.

But in 2009, the FSA warned that children were now consuming so much fat that it was clogging their arteries (堵塞动脉). Parents are now advised to switch their children to semi-skimmed milk for the age of two.

The new research suggests such efforts could be counterproductive (产生相反效果). Children who drink full-fat milk were likely to end up less hungry, researchers suggested, making them less likely to snack on high calorie foods.

The Canadian research, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, found that those children who drank whole milk had a Body Mass Index score that was 0.72 units lower than those who drink one or 2% semi-skimmed milk. Lead researcher, DR, Jonathan said the difference amounted to (相当于) the difference between having a healthy weight and being overweight.

Children who drank one cup of whole milk each day that comparable (类似的) vitamin D levels to those drinking nearly three times as much skimmed-milk, the study found. This could be because vitamin D is fat soluble, meaning it dissolves (溶解) in fat rather than water.

Prof Maguire said: “Children who drink low fat milk don’t have less body fat. And they also don’t benefit from the higher vitamin D levels in whole milk. It is a double negative with low fat milk”.

1. What did the FSA suggest?
A.Full-fat milk helps children to grow up slimmer.
B.It’s better for children to drink semi-skimmed milk before 2.
C.Semi-skimmed milk can partly prevent children being fat.
D.Children that drink full-fat milk get higher vitamin D levels.
2. What’s the main idea of Paragraph 5? It’s about           .
A.what the new research found
B.the reason why full-fat milk makes children slimmer
C.how full-fat milk make children less hungry
D.the importance of switching to semi-skimmed milk
3. According to the passage, what can’t people benefit from vitamin D?
A.Improving moods.B.Being slim.C.Being healthy.D.Protecting bones.
4. How does the passage mainly develop?
A.By giving examples.B.By raising figures (数字).
C.By describing the course.D.By making comparison.

文章大意:本文讲述为了健康的生活,科学家研究发现节食和运动搭配同时进行效果会更好。

10 . When it comes to making healthy lifestyle changes, which should come first changing your diet or becoming more physically active?

Previous studies suggested that providing people with too much information about nutrition and physical activity at once tends to be discouraging. That has led to the popularity of advising people to make changes gradually, and set smaller goals.

So the scientists divided 200 inactive participants who were aged 45 or older into four groups. One group was instructed about making diet and fitness changes at the same time, the second group was taught about diet changes first, then fitness changes four months later, the third group changed their exercise habits first and made changes in their eating habits four months later, and the final, control group was not instructed about either diet or fitness changes but about how to manage their stress.

The researchers tracked(跟踪)the groups for full year. Compared to the control group, the three intervention groups made healthy changes in their diet. Those who changed their fitness habits first significantly increased the amount of exercise they received daily compared to the other groups after four months. However,at the end of the year, the group that changed both diet and exercise at the same time was the only one that met the nationally recommended targets for both exercise and nutrition levels, while those who worked on improving their nutrition first were unable to meet the recommended levels of fitness after a year. The researchers suspect that changes to diet are easier to make than changes to physical activity.

The findings show, however, that pairing diet and exercise changes may help to overcome some of the barriers people face in adding more physical activity into their lives. If people change diet and exercise orderly, the scientists say, they may end up placing more importance on the first set of behavior changes and feel less pressured to address the second set.

1. The advice mentioned in the second paragraph seemed ________.
A.popularB.dangerousC.scientificD.unsatisfactory
2. Which group made progress earlier than other groups in increasing the amount of daily exercise?
A.The first group.B.The second group.C.The third group.D.The control group.
3. The reason why those improving their nutrition first failed to meet the levels of fitness after a year might be that _________.
A.they might be very crazy
B.they wouldn't like to change their behaviour
C.it is much harder to change physical activity
D.they might put on weight before changing their physical activity
4. Which of the following does the author probably approve of?
A.Pairing diet and exercise changes.
B.Becoming more physically active first.
C.Changing diet and exercise following a fixed order.
D.Changing diet first and placing more importance on it.
