文章大意:本文主要介绍了恶心食品博物馆,目的是为了鼓励人们吃更环保的食物。

2 . Buy a ticket to the Disgusting (恶心的) Food Museum in Sweden, and you’ll find it is not printed on a piece of paper.

“Instead, it is a vomit (呕吐) bag with our logo,” said Samuel West who set up the museum. It was a joke. But it sounds reasonable in some ways. Inside the museum, the foods with some of the world’s most terrible smells are on display. Walking around in it, someone may want to vomit.

Yet making people vomit is not West’s purpose (目的). “I want people to know that disgust is always in the eye of the visitors,” said West. “We usually find things we’re not familiar with disgusting.” for example, the tree-ant larvae (幼虫) eaten in Mexico, or the bird’s nest soup in China.

There are nearly 80 dishes in the museum. They come from Asia, Europe, the United States, Central and South America, Africa and Australia.

West wants people to know that disgust isn’t just about taste or smell. It’s also about the way the food is made. In the museum, some foods might taste pretty good, but are made in a terrible way. Those include French foie gras (鹅肝酱). This dish needs to feed ducks or geese with force. Another example is the monkey brain (脑). It is said that in some parts of China, the brain is being eaten while the animal still lives.

West hopes that the museum will help people rethink what is delicious food. He also wants to encourage people to try more food that are environmentally friendly. He suggests people eat less meat, especially beef and pork. Instead, he encourages people to eat smaller animals.

C.where people can taste delicious foodD.how people feed the ducks and geese
4. The main purpose of setting up the museum is to ________.
A.ask people to eat environmental foodB.advise people to cook special food
C.encourage people to visit the museumD.tell people to be friendly to the animals

3 . Picture the scene: It’s midnight. You’re very hungry after studying for a long time. Then you see a nice pie in the fridge. Should you eat it? It seems that you shouldn’t for many reasons, including its influence on your brains.

Scientists have long known that eating late at night can make us put on weight. But now a new study has shown that late-night eating can also have a bad influence on our brains — it might hurt our ability to learn new things and store memories.

“We believe that late-night eating may affect(影响) our learning by affecting the parts of the brain that control learning and memory,” Dawn Loh. PhD, a project scientist at the University of California, Los Angeles, said. “We believe the timing of when we eat is the main cause of the damaged memory.”

For the study, the researchers did an experiment on mice. The mice were either allowed to eat during the daytime or during the night. They received the same amount of sleep and calories. Then the researchers tested the brains of the mice and noticed that the mice eating during the night were less able to remember things well.

So think twice before the midnight snack — it might be bad for more than your weight.

Food is an important part of everyone’s life, but it can become a problem when it’s all you think about. If you are trying to make a change in your diet, you may be fighting against continuous thoughts about food that you are hungering for. To keep food off your mind, follow the following tips and start a healthy relationship with food.

    1

Sometimes your body gets some wrong message and tells you that you’re hungry when you really just need some water. Keep a water bottle with you during the day and drink water very often. If you start to think about food, drink some water to see if it makes you not feel hungry anymore.

    2

If you buy things like cookies, chips, and soda, you’re probably going to think about them while they are sitting in your kitchen. Avoid the temptation by only buying healthy foods. Create a shopping list before you go shopping and stick to it as much as you can. Never go to the food store while you are hungry. This can cause you to buy unhealthy food that you are hungering for.

    3

If you’re starting to think about food, try getting up and going for a ride a run, or even a round of soccer with your friends. Exercise is a great way to keep your mind and body occupied while meeting your fitness goals. Try to find a physical activity that you like doing so that you look forward to it. Hiking, rock climbing, weight training, and swimming are all great activities to get your body moving.

    4

If you’re just sitting in your home, you are more likely to think about all the food that is in your kitchen. Go for a walk around the block, run some errands. or head to a movie to keep your mind off food. If you have a pet, take them for a short walk around your neighborhood as an excuse to get out of the house.

    5

Sometimes your brain may still be focused on food. Try keeping a diary to write in whenever you feel like food is on your mind. Write down what you did that day, how you are feeling, and what your goals are. Get creative with your diary by adding pictures or stickers as decoration. Use a pocket-sized diary to keep with you whenever you might need it.

10 . Most of us don’t think about food until we start feeling hungry, but eating is important in life. To talk about food and eating is to talk about one of the most common subjects we know. Eating is just like breathing or sleeping, so everyday, so ordinary, so it does not receive much notice.

However, what, where, when, how, and with whom we eat say a great deal about who we are. Do you use chopsticks? Do you hold the knife backward? Do you chew with your mouth open? All these eating habits say something about you. They are messages even when we are not trying to say anything. Food and the ways we eat it, like clothes and the way we wear them, tell who and what we are.

We learn our eating habits very early in life. We usually have strong feelings about our childhood foods. Foods we learn to like in our early years probably have a special meaning for us forever because they are connected to people and things we love. Mom’s cheese or the way Dad cuts the bread crusts is just right bringing up feelings of love and comfort.

People use food and eating to mark the seasons and the important moments in life (such as growing up and getting married), or to honor gods, and to say something about themselves. People will eat different foods for different holidays. Sometimes people even explain why they eat certain things on certain days. Americans do that sort of explaining at Thanksgiving. They eat Turkey, corn, and Indian pudding because their ancestors ate them at the first Thanksgiving. Those foods mean something to Americans.

As you can see, food and eating mark people’s shared experiences, but they can also mark the differences. In that sense, we truly are what we eat.

1. You can probably read the article from a magazine about ________.
A.travellingB.food and cultureC.clothes and fashionD.sports
2. Why do people have strong feelings about childhood foods?
A.Because the foods may connect to the beloved people or things.
B.Because most of the people like eating cheese and bread.
C.Because the cheese made by Mom and Dad tastes delicious.
D.Because people learn the eating habits very early.
3. Which of the following shows the proper structure of the passage?
A.B.C.D.
4. What is the writing purpose of the passage?
A.To tell us the importance of keeping a healthy eating habit.
B.To compare different eating habits among countries.
C.To show the connections between one’s identity with eating habits.
D.To introduce some festivals and traditional food.
