Do you know that you can eat a rainbow (彩虹)? You can’t eat a rainbow in the sky, of course. You can make a healthy rainbow out of all the different colors of fruits and vegetables.
A red apple can help keep your heart strong. Red berries (莓) can help keep you from getting ill. An orange carrot can help keep your eyes healthy. An orange is full of vitamins (维生素). 3 . Life for children is much different from before. Children used to (过去) eat a lot of healthy food such as fish, rice, vegetables and fruit. In the last letter, you said you were interested in the school club I started last year. You asked me what pushed me to do so.
Well, the answer came to me when searching for a topic for the school work. I found that many U. S. teens weren’t even eating one piece of fruit or vegetable daily! If I can help others put more vegetables and fruits into their daily meals, I would surely do that.
So, I started “Lettuce Eat” as well as a website with nutrition(营养)tips. Here I want to share some cool tips with you.
If you dislike eating vegetables, here’s a tip for you: Put vegetables into meals without having to taste them. It got me to eat vegetables that I don’t like, such as cauliflower or carrots. I mix(混合)vegetables with meat and use them in noodles or other dishes.
Sometimes you don’t even need to make a difficult dish. By just adding something on the side, you can greatly increase the nutrients you get out of the meal. For example, tomatoes have a lot of vitamin C. If you add tomatoes to rice and beans, you will get more iron.
I think my most useful lesson was knowing the importance of having “3 square meals” so that I wouldn’t be very interested in unhealthy snacks(点心). In the past, I often snacked a lot on chips and chocolates and got into a bad habit of eating too much between meals, then not being hungry enough for a healthy meal, and then being hungry again for snacking... and this would go on and on. Now I know that I need to have a complete meal, including vegetables and other healthy food, and I have now given up most of my unhealthy snacking.
There is so much to learn about nutrition. Although I only spent about a year on my club, it turned out to be a fun way to give useful information to teenagers. I hope you will join us as well!

7 . Everybody wants to be healthy. You know food is very important. There are many kinds of healthy foods. You can have more bananas, apples, oranges, tomatoes, and potatoes because fruit and vegetables are good for you. But don’t eat too much chocolate. It’s not healthy. 9 . PED (Partial eclipse disease, 偏食症) is a kind of bad eating habit (习惯). People with PED only like or dislike some kind of food. It happens (发生) to babies and children most. Some old people have such a problem, too.
Why does it happen?
You are one of the reasons (原因).When you don’t eat some food often, your children see it and soon follow you. Also, too much love from the one—child family makes children get bad eating habits easily. Some children with low Zn (锌) levels might have PED, too.
What do children with PED usually do?
When you find your children have one of such symptoms (症状), you have to take it seriously.
*Only eat meat for a meal, leaving rice there.
*Never eat vegetables but always eat so much junk food.
*Enjoy all drinks such as cola, milk and yogurt and they even think of them as main food.
*Eggs are their favorite food and they eat at least three to four eggs a day.
How to help your children with PED? Add Zn to children’s food.Try to let children eat more food with Zn such as fish, liver (肝脏), oysters (牡蛎) and other kinds of meat.
Sometimes medicine with Zn is necessary too. Set a good example for them. You are the best teacher for your children.

What foods do you eat every day? Do you eat healthy foods? US Photographer(摄影师)Gregg Segal asks students what they eat every week. Then, he takes photos of the students and their foods. Segal wants to use them to ask students to eat healthy foods.
Colorful fruits and vegetables are good for our health. Their colors help us keep healthy. Green is good for our eyes. And it gives us strong bones and teeth. Blue and purple help us remember things well. They are good for our eyes, too. Red gives us healthy hearts. Yellow and orange give us much vitamin C.
For packaged(包装)foods, look at the ingredients(成分). Don’t eat foods with more than five ingredients.
You can write down everything you eat or take photos of your foods for one week. That way, you’ll know what you eat clearly.
